Yes, I am interviewing with them this week. I got the same info as NurseJAG. The recruiter also said that they are interviewing for two days.

My first semester of nursing school will be starting August 31st too. I really can't give you much advice since it will be my first semester too. I haven't bought my books or have an orientation yet but I already feel the stress is coming on its way BUT whenever I feel discourage, I remind myself how hard I had to work to get into the nursing school and how on top of the world I feel when I got an acceptance phone call. This is just the beginning. You will do amazing and you are not alone!!!

Special Kae, I was in your position about 5 months ago and now, I am starting the nursing program in the Fall. I took the test only once and got a decent score. I bought a mannual study guide from ATI testing and an online practice. In the mannual study guide, it will pretty much tell you what subjects will be on the test. I would highly recommend buying those. TEAS test is not that bad, REALLY! Math portion was actually the easiest for me..what got me though was a science portion. The science questions mostly contain life science, earth science that you learned from 6-7th grade and one or two questions on A&P, microbiology. You have to have a positive attitude. Tell yourself that you can do this. Manage time to study and devote yourself to it. You will do awesome!! SMILE :)

Do you have any work experience? I understand that SDSU gives more points for students who work in a related healthcare field than students who have volunteer hours.

It's comforting to hear that I am not alone so thanks to you! I am choosing whether I shoud take a philosophy or a literature class. I have to take both eventually but I guess I just want to get the harder one out of the way (maybe) since I think the first semester of nursing school should be the easiest and it will get harder in the long run. OR I might just take one of the classes in the summer or something.

Thank you kate82! I am staying positive. I know it will be difficult but I am prepared for that. I mainly will want to focus my time on nursing classes just like happiness10466 said but I cannot neglect my gen ed either since it can affect my GPA. Though, I would think that students who are getting a BSN will have to do the same thing I will be doing (don't count me on that) because according to the course plan from my school, it seems to set it up that way. I went straight from finishing pre-req to the nursing program so there aren't much time to finish ALL of my gen-ed. Classes left I need to take are such as world lit, philosophy, etc. Anyway, thanks again for your help.

Thank you guys for the response!! I don't have any kids so that is a good thing. I am a transfer student plus I have to fullfill the University upper-division requirement classes to get my Bachelor, not just for the program..that's why I have to take enough general education classes. As much as I don't want to, I really have no choice. happiness10466, what types of classes of gen ed are you taking with nursing courses? Lots of reading and papers?

Hello, I am starting the nursing program this fall. (BSN program). Well, it seems like in every semesters while I will be in the nursing school, I somehow have manage to take at least one non-nursing classes along with all my other nursing classes in order to finish a program with a Bachelor's Degree in 2.5 years. Therefore, I approximately will be taking about 17 credits (with 3 credits of gen. ed class) in each semester. 17 credits is a quite big load in a regular semester already but this is a nursing school so I figure it will be MUCH harder! I guess, I just want some hear some advices or if everybody else is also doing the same thing I am. Anything help would be appreciated. Thank you

Thank you for the info. Not until after the orientation? That surprises me because I thought we would be getting that sooner than that. Anyway, thanks for sharing!! I really appreciate it. Also, did she say anything about getting our physical exam done? or immunization record? I guess now, I just have sit and wait till the orientation..I feel like I should be doing something productive preparing for the school to start.

I haven't gotten a letter in the mail either maybe they don't send them out at all..Yeah, they updated the orientation stuff, but not anything on compliance. I remember when I received the call that we supposed to start on getting CPR card immediately but I don't recall she said anything about background check..I will just wait another week to call them back. If you hear anything, please let me know and I will do the same thing as well! Thanks!

California State University San Marcos. I think that's pretty close (not sure though) San Diego State University but I think it's a bit further.

I don't know anything about schools in VA but SDSU (San Diego State University) doesn't have a waiting list but it gets very competitive. The school select candidates based off cumm GPA, pre-reg GPA, volunteer hours, work experience, and TEAS score.

BSN. This way, I would be spending less time in school and I believe that I would get pay more a little more with BSN. :)

Thanks for the response. I have a pretty ok gps but what throws me off is that I don't have a work experience. I only volunteered which will give me 5 points instead of 10-15 points. If you don't mind me asking, do you have any work experiences? And good luck to you too!!!

I took TEAS test today and I got 85.9% Is that a good enough score to apply for SDSU? I am so nervous!!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH GUYS FOR THE ADVICE AND ENCOURAGEMENT!! I decided I am just going to apply for the school anyway and see what happen. If I don't get in, I will have to look into CNA class. I can't really look into right now since I am moving to California in November and classes won't start again until Spring Semester. Another tricky part is that I am an international student so there are regulations that I need to follow regarding the immigration law. (I can't take any classes right now since I am on what we call, "optional pracitical training.") Like I said, I will see what happen. Now I am doing my best preparing for TEAS test, get my volunteer hours in as many as possible. I have a pretty good GPA (3.8) for both pre-req and commulative. It is just work experiences that I dont have Again guys, thank you for all the reponses!!!

Thank you for the response. So the new admission criteria gives point for both volunteer and work experience. Well, I have been volunteering at the hospital so I know I will get 5 points for that. But for the work experience part, you have to be employed somehow. From you said, do you think if I have a nurse at the hospital write me a letter as an aid or something, would that help? Since they just change the admission again, I just hope that many pre-nursing students wouldnt have many experiences either.

I cant get any job as CNA because I never take CNA classes. CNA classes are really hard to get in also.

I just hope that most people who apply for Fall 2009 won't have experiences as well because 15 point is very significant and I hate to lose that. Do you know if they give points for bilingual? thanks again.

Point Loma are too expensive. San Macros gave points for residency which I won't get that since I didnt go to school in California state. I cant apply to Oklahma University because i think you have to already have a bachelor degree or something. Thank you for the encouragement. I still cant believe they did that. I got grades, volunteer hours..just not work experience
