  1. I used RN 3500. I read the Saunders book front to back and after each section I did the the questions. But that was over a 4 mth span of time.
  2. I'm on Pediatric Med-Surg. I'm so super happy. Thank you.
  3. $37,000 is awfully expensive. I know I wouldn't want to pay on that especially when you think about the interest that it will build. Here are some positives of Associate degree Nursing I know from first hand. I don't know where you live but here in VA I am making exactly the same as as the new BSN nurses. I can apply to get $3,000 tuition assistance at the intuition where I am working and there are separate scholarships available for when I start BSN classes. I will have gotten a 3 yrs bacholers, its not 2 yrs but is sure beats the traditional 4yr BSN. Also, an ADN nurses takes the same boards and have the same responsibilities and a BSN nurse. I am so glad with the decision I made. I applied to nursing school for two yrs before I was accepted. In the end it doesn't matter to me because I am finally doing what I have always dreamed of :)
  4. Nursing schools are competitive, but not impossible. Will you get in the first time you apply??? Maybe .... Maybe not, but if you want to be a nurse you won't let that stop you. I applied to nursing school for two yrs before I was accepted. I was frustrated. But there was no way I was going to let ANYONE discourage me from applying for the next term. So I applied to every school I where my application would be considered and I got in, I didn't get into my first choice but I am so okay with that. Because here I am today, I just finished my second day on the job as a RN in on a Ped Med-Surg floor. Hang in there, apply and apply and apply if you need to. Its will be so worth it in the end :)
  5. I chose to go to INOVA for my fellowship. I'm actually started oreintation yesterday and I'm happy with my choice already. Flip flopping between days and nights will take some getting used to, but I'll manage. Plus the diff is good. I cant wait to actually pair up with my preceptor!!!!
  6. Hi pitbullcm, I used Saunders primarily. I mostly did my questions in study mode so I don't what my scores were. The few times I took it in exam mode i think I averaged around 64%, but I passed Nclex.
  7. Yea you should definitely give them a call. I did my clinical there in April and when we went to the NICU the nurses we literally begging us to go talk the the nurse recruiter. Two of my classes mates were hired in the NICU before graduation. They probably are willing take all the help they can get.
  8. A friend of mine just passed hers yesterday and her expiration date isn't until 2011. We graduated in th same class. I emailed the BON so hopefully they will get back to me soon. I'm very curious.
  9. That cant be true because it is expires in just over a year for me.
  10. Hey Everyone, Does anyone know why some people licenses expires faster than others. For examples mines was issued on the 27th of June 2008 and expires September 30th 2009. My friends was issued on June 24th 2008 and doesn't expire until June 30, 2010. Why is that?
  11. I say you def made the right decision. That programs sounds way to unorganized. And if its like that on the outside imagine what those poor students are going through. My school was the same way a few examples 1)My pharm teacher walked out mid way through the semester and left over half the class failing. 2) I signed up for AM clinicals and I found out the week before clinicals were to start the instructor decided to take on a clinical group. Did they know that a week before clinicals?? Of course, did they care to tell us, NO. 3) There was a required summer course and 7 weeks into the 8 week course the department head decided the teacher wasn't qualified. So not only would the student have to take the course over again in the fall, they would have to pay for it again. The list goes on. It was the most frustrating 2 yrs of my life. Your gut was probably right.
  12. I finished 75 questions in less than an hour also. Looking back I should have taken my time, but I got so frustrated with the questions I was getting I started clicking the first answer that jumped at me. But I passed, so my first instincts must have been right.
  13. momtojosh, Congrats!!!! Your patients will be very lucky to have a nurse who there because she loves the profession. I used Saunders to study for Nclex. Its really up to you through. If you feel weak in some area you can use notes and text. I recommend lots of practice questions. . Good luck and hopefully you'll here back from the state sound so you can get out there and make a difference :).
  14. I passed. That is stress I never want to experience again.
