  2. sent my application in for fall 2011.. still waiting to hear- what other schools did you apply to? why did you pick umdnj? i work with 2 nurses .. both attending umdnj.. i works part time and said this is doable- one works full time and said it was rough- ill keep you posted-
  3. i find the patient care and home visit to be a wonderful experience. it is calling dr's 3 and 4 times , pharmacies, charting that never ends and documentation that is for the jury in mind as well as check off boxes and naratives and 485s and updates and on and on.. i spend a full day in the field and then chart another 2 to 4 hrs a night- not sure if this is typical
  4. nj community hospice working 4 to 5 days a week with some weekends and oncall if needed anywhere from 28 to 45 an hr smaller private companies pay less... hospital based hospice pay more.. always rushing... always.... loaded down with paper or computer work... (hrs of it) but if you like hospice and you like being a little manic.... ITS A GREAT JOB
  5. i work for profit organization we have approx 125 cencus for 8 rn's my case load is 20( i have a busy area) i case manage and travel( not usually more than 150 miles on for the week) i make 32 an hr for 40 hrs( dont usually get paid for overtime) we have no on call nurse for the weeknights(4p - 8am) our area is huge--- on call can travel over 150 miles a night or less, but the area cover 6 counties ( on call week nurses don't last) the day nurses cover on call we are burnt out and anxious about the weekend nurse quiting( on call weekend can travel 350 miles a weekend easily) we also have not back up for either position the company and the nurses we work with are great! but we don't seem to find anyone to stay( its either the salary or the travel) any suggestions

  7. i recently switched from emergency on call to case manager for approx 16 pts - most in assited living- lots of dementia and some cardiac- the problem is- many of them don't technically qualify! has anyone had this experience? txs g in jersey
