  1. If I take a home equity loan out to pay for my nursing education will this be considered a loan that they will pay towards or does it have to be a "student" loan?
  2. CONGRATS Julie! Good luck with you decision, I would be stuck too!!! Thanks for the update!!!
  3. Congrats on your interivew GatorGirl! I cannot wait to follow you all through the next few months. I'm a year behind you all and will be starting my final pre-reqs at FCCJ in May, applying for acclerated programs the following May!
  4. Thanks Julie, I will definally be in touch once the FCCJ class schedule comes out for instructor help! Should be around the first week in March!
  5. Julie, CONGRADULATIONS!!!! That is sooo exciting. I cannot wait to hear how your interview goes and to watch you through the final steps!!! I will be thinking about you! GOOD LUCK! Any more news from JU?
  6. Julie, Good luck to you with your acceptances and choices! The info session was great last night! They did mention they were printing the interview acceptance invites today. Not sure if they go in the mail today or tomorrow but be on the look out. Let us know!!! Good luck!
  7. Julie, Its great to hear from someone in the UNF/JU track. I'm planning on applying to both those programs for summer '09. I'm taking my pre-reqs at FCCJ, starting this summer and then will apply. I'm actually going to attend the UNF BSN info session today. Did you attend one of these? Please keep us updated on your status!!!
  8. I'm only 26, but I am making a big career change. I have my bachlors and masters degree in accounting. I have worked in the field for a little over 3 years now in external and internal audit. I'm ready for a change as there is no way I can sit behind this computer for another 40 years! Good Luck to everyone!!! I love following everyone's lifes and career changes!
  9. Thanks for the response. I will be starting my pre-reqs in May. I have 3 semesters of pre-reqs, then I'm applying to UNF's acclerated program, but FCCJ's program is my backup. Stay in touch!
  10. Wow, thanks for all the respones. I really appreciate everyone's advice and hearing everyone's situations! Due to my circumstances (boss thinking I was working on CPA exam, when I would not be) I did not feel right not telling him. So today is friday and I just finished my chat with him!! Overall it went GREAT! I can keep my job as long as I want it and then he even said we will talk about part-time once I know my pre-req schedule!! He definally tried to give me some bad points about nursing and force the CPA and the accounting field on me, but I knew that was coming and I have already made the decision its not for me. I could make a lot more money staying where I am and continuing in this field, but sometimes its just not about the money anymore!! Thanks again for all your words and encouragement!!!
  11. Thats what I was thinking. .Thanks for your response!
  12. How far in advance to the course schedules normally get posted online? I'm starting pre-reqs at FCCJ in May (Summer) and I'm just so excited to see the schedule :) BIG DORK, I know! I'm just so excited to start this journey. TIA
  13. Loris - Thanks so much for your kind words! I do plan to approach my boss on friday so I stay in control. I feel we have a good relationship so it should go good, but like you said, you never know. My plan B is actually go do a CNA course and find a part-time job to continue thru my pre-reqs, although the pay would of course drop, I would love the experiance, so I'm really excited either way!! Thanks again!
  14. I currently work as an internal auditor at a public corporation and have decided that accounting is not for me. The past few years I have been working on completing the CPA but cannot get through it. I know the main reason is because my heart is not into it and I'm not giving my full attention while studying! My boss thinks that I'm starting a new CPA review course in Jan to complete the exam. On Friday, when he returns from vacation, I'm informing him of my decision to not complete the CPA exam and go back to school for nursing. I'm hoping he will allow me to stay here until the end of April as I'm not starting courses till May. We have had a great relationship and work environment so I think he will be ok, but thats a big change he is not expecting. Have others gone through this discussion? Any advice or stories to share?
  15. Beach Girl - Thanks for the info! Congrats in your progress so far and good luck with the rest of your program.
  16. BeachGirl - I'm looking to start the acclerated program in May 09. I will start the pre-reqs in May 08. I currently hold my bachlors and master in accounting. How do you like the acclerated program at UNF? How far along are you? What was your major/career before nursing? Nice to meet you!
  17. I cannot help you out with any info on UNF acceptance but just wanted to say Hi! I'm planning on starting pre-reqs at FCCJ this May and applying to UNF the following May. Keep this post updated with your progress, I would love to follow it through. GOOD LUCK!
  18. Its great to hear from fellow accountants. I worked for Ernst & Young for 2 years and the moved to an internal audit department for a public company, thinking I needed something different. I have almost been here a year and have realized although its something different, its still accounting and I"m not happy! I plan to quit my job and start pre-reqs in May. I may work part time depending on how classes are feeling. I will then appy for acclerated BSN programs to start the following may. Nice to meet all my fellow accountants!
  19. MikeinFL - I was unable to find that info, but interesting Thanks. I still have about a little under a year before applying to programs, have pre-reqs to complete first. So we will see what they are up to then. np_wannabe - Thanks for the info as well! JU is definally not my first choice as I know its a private university so of course more expensive. But if thats where I get in we will reconsider. The information is helpful. Thanks!!
  20. New to the forum and need to add onto the FL Roll Call. I currently live in Jacksonville, FL. I plan to start my pre-req's in May and then an accerlated BSN program the following May, either at UNF, UF Jax, or JU. Will apply to all three programs, UNF being my first choice. Nice to meet you all!!
  21. Bumping up this tread for any more information on UNF, JU, or the UF Jax program. I'm going to be taking my pre-reqs at FCCJ starting in May 2008 and then applying for the acclerated program at the three schools above. Thanks in advance!
