  1. Good Luck in your choice and training. If I can be of help witrh your placements give me a shout be happy to help...if I CAN:up::up:
  2. first off .. Well done, on your choices.. Am I right in saying that Glasgow Uni is now the name for BELL College and PaisleyUni????.. I went to Bell College which was affiliated with Strathclyde Uni at that time. I worked with Lanarkshire NHS before coming to New York.. I personally thought the style of training was good.. I was a Preceptor for the new students and i worked closely with the PEFs and lecturers .Bell college has avery good nursing campus with a skills lab .Kinda was a bit jelous of this as, when i was doing my training it was done at the old hartwood hospital grounds...big old building with a lot of old ghosts and memories... we had a blast.. As for Abertay, I am sure thats just as good good...can you not google grades for both.. also take into account where you are staying.. sorry i,m not much help.. but good luck aggy b xx
  3. HI... Just reading your post... not been on in a couple days.. I answered in your other post........i,ll pm you with my email addy.. are you still in the uk.???? aggy b:D
  4. Hi The role of LVN/LPN is different in a lot of ways, from our EN. As SD says it can depend on the state you are working in. Here in NY LPN's cannot start a blood transfusion, or give IV meds. They cannot do initial assessment either. Also over here, untrained staff (PCT) can do blood draws, ecg , but cant cannulate.... well, not where I work. Get that book I told you about..it has a full chapter on who can do what/or not. If anything else i,ll be happy to help. AGGY X
  5. HI THERE, Well, I trained in lanarkshire health board... now nhs lanarkshire..... I worked in monklands... I see its on the news cos of this swine flu..... lol I worked in the ID UNIT... Did surgical hdu before that...... I started my training in 1975, but didnt sit my finals.. got married, had family ...got divorced... and then made decision to go back to nursing... so here I am.... I was a p2000 student...1995:yeah::yeah: take care ....aggb
  6. :coollook: Oops sorry.. my bad..... hope you can get the book.....by the way, I didn't mean that you would get tested on this book, but on delegation, and priority.:bugeyes: Wishing you well... aggy b
  7. SD, I didn't realise you sat nclex that long ago:bugeyes:.. no wonder you went to Canada.. its crazy that immigration is taking forever....but all things for a reason.. right!!!! aggy b
  8. :specs: Hi STUDYBUDDY, Like SD, I too passed on 3rd attempt.... I,m already here living and had been working as a PCT.. (clinical support worker to us) I got loads of books given to me by other nurses, but I liked the SAUNDERS 4TH EDITION.. Also, study as if you are a student.. nclex world doesnt want you to think like what really goes on in the wards.. and you,ll be amazed what you have forgot.. well, I did anyway:bugeyes: There is also another book I liked.. LINDA LA CHARITY..ASSESSMENT, PRIORITY AND DELEGATION.. you will get asked loads of qs on this.. GOOD LUCK AGGY B:up:

  16. HI.. I hope you dont mind me posting this, I have been on allnurses for a while, but I guess you can call me a bit of a lurker:wink2::wink2: I have been reading your posts and replied to others. Can I just say that you are a very sensitive, caring person. The kind of nurse I would want to work with, take care of me and be my backup. As a preceptor I worked with plenty students who just didnt give a damn, it was just a way of getting a job that most didnt want to do, and wouldnt last in the world of nursing. I wish you well in your career...you are a great nurse:nurse: trust me. ps.. i,ve just passed the nclex here in ny, so now its my turn to be a beginner again aggy b xx:up:
  17. JUST SAW YOUR OTHER POST.... :yeah: WELL DONE... :nurse: AGGY B

  19. :redpinkhe:redpinkhe first off.. i,m sorry for your loss... it shows you are a strong person that you carried on with studies. I too failed twice,passed 3rd time.... I read the saunders 4th edition, and bought the linda la charity book delegation and priority.. i found this helped a lot. Try not to get down about it.. i know thats easier said than done.. you will do this you know:wink2::wink2: You have the right temperment to be a nurse..and a good one, this will only make you stronger and your husband is watching over you:saint:, just read the saunders, it is very easy reading and if you want i can send you the la charity book:) its my turn to help others now. aggy b x
  20. First off, sorry for those that failed:scrying: you will get it next time.. As for the pearson vue "trick" ... on fri night after reading this thread, I tried to re register, I took my exam on 12th march, and it wouldnt let me go all the way to cc details.. like many of you, I started to think, ok maybe it is true. I dont see it as a "trick", it just makes sense that if you dont have to re register if you have passed. It is after all a computerized system. Wish i,d done it the last 2times to find out. Just my thoughts on this, so dont take it as gospel truth. On saturday morning I paid for my quick result and I had Passed. 3rd time lucky:nurse: aggy b x
  21. WELL DONE YOU...:nurse: GOOD LUCK IN YOUR FUTURE:yeah:
  22. THANKS...LOOK ABOVE.... AGGY B XX:up:
  23. :yeah::yeah: WEL DONE.. NO MORE NCLEX:nurse::nurse:
  24. Hi BABYLADY.. well heres my story..first off, i trained in the UK. The first I took the test it shut off at 75... I have to admit I went into this not fully prepared as I thought, quite foolishly I may add.... that I didnt have to study much.... see how that came back and bit me on the ass:) Second time I got 265.. Used the Saunders, 3500 rn nclex online questions... felt more in control, but still failed. Third time....got just over 200 , stopped looking at the number so dont no for sure .. I went to the library on my lunch break and went through the saunders, bought the linda la charity book, which i have to say helped me with priority, delegation.. thing was it was just reinforcing what i already know.... if you dont have this book i would recommend it. maybe it was just my time... all things for a reason... THANK YOU GOD.. HOPE THIS HELPS AND GOOD LUCK AGGY B XX
  25. THANK YOU....I,m sure you made it too...:up: good luck time to move on with the next phase in our journey...:nurse: aggy b
