Troponin is more specific to heart injury and stays up longer ,that is why it is a reliable source to ruling in MI/ACS. The number depends on the hospital I guess. When I was in London

My last manager gave me carer's leave when my daughter got sick and I had to stay at home to take care of her at short notice.

nurses get blame abuse any docs out there
I understand what you are feeling because it is the same in our hospital. The shortage of staff is getting dangerous. There was even a day when after closing the curtains to give privacy to one of my patients I suddenly burst into tears due to stress, I have never done that in all of my years nursing. The patient was very sympathetic telling me she has seen how I was running around all day.It is like evryday we are filling incident forms. I hope ang pray they will do something about this.I have discussed how I feel with my nurse in charge alraedy but what can they do????It is the people on top that has the say.I wish they would come and try to do our job for a day and see how stressful it is. Now there are no phlebotomist on Sundays so it is our job to take blood as well, House officers are busy when you need them.:sasq:

Cardiac Meds-so confused
Hi, hope this will help, most betablockers ends with "lol" like metoprolol, carvedilol, atenolo, bisoprolol, sotalol. They slow down the heart rate and are contra - indicated to patients with heart block. Most ace inhibitors end with "pril" like captopril, ramipril, perindopril, quinapril, enalapril. They are use to treat heart failure and hypertension. Good luck and take your time learning them.

failure to capture
And also there is a limit in giving atropine so the best is still to have a temporary pacer at bedside.

Saudi- MOH
When I went to Saudi, they told me where I would be working a week after I passed the entrance exam and started submitting the additional papers they wanted. My starting salary was 2550 in Saudi riyals and that was in 1996. Every year there is an increment depending on your performance. It was ok for me then since I was single, didn't need to send money home. Plus everything was free including food and your vacation is paid. And in Saudi your 50 riyals will go far since the standard of living is not expensive, that is why a lot of Filipino nurses go back there when they become citizens in other western countries because they would pay you more. I just don't know now how much MOH pays now.

blood thinners
Hi Misslo, I am a cardiac nurse working in CCU,we have a lot of patients that have Afib and we mostly tell them to be extra careful in doing their ADLs because sometimes they are not only on warfarin but on aspirin and clopidogrel if they had had an ischemic event. They do know that they will bruise easily as well. And prior to any surgery warfarin is stopped and is shifted to low molecular weight heparin. We did have a patient who had knee aspiration and was on warfarin ,6 hours and 3pressure dressing after, it was still bleeding soaking the dressing. One of the resident doctor applied a dressing with a few drop of protamine sulfate and that stopped the bleeding.

Saudi- MOH
Hi, working in a Saudi MOH hospital was good for me. It is lonely but at least you get to go home every 11 mos and it is a paid holiday. Most of the MOH hospital have many Filipino nurses so you'll get a lot of support. I learned a lot there and it was in Saudi that I realized i wanted to become a CCU nurse. So I am a cardiac nurse now working in UK. Go to POEA window S or T that was where I went. Everything is paid by the Saudi government.
