  1. I have a BA already and really, really, don't want to take the time or spend the money for a BSN. I'd like to do what the title says: Find an online RN to psychiatric nurse practitioner program. I've only found one program, and it required IIRC Dela...
  2. Looking for an online RN-MSN/NP in Psych

Thanks ear, that was the one program I found also. Looks like I'll have to do the BSN to DNP route. I found lots of online programs for that particular path.
  3. Dear Pysch Nurses

I'm lollin'. If there was a "love this post" button, I'd be mashing it. I'd rather do 2 semesters of cardiac stuff than one of mother/baby. Ugh!
  4. Funny thing client said

According to a patient, klonopin is "minty". I can neither confirm nor deny this, but you have to admit it is a nice combination; not anxious and kissy fresh.
  5. Oh crap...I can't believe I forgot...

I called for admit orders and forgot to enter them into the computer :thankya: I remembered on day 2 of a 3 day weekend.
  6. Pearsonvue Trick Is this TRUE? Does it work every time?

  7. Pearsonvue Trick Is this TRUE? Does it work every time?

On Monday I didn't get a popup but DID get a message saying I could not register at this time and to contact the state board. I tried again today using the 'reregister' option (should I have tried 'register'?) and it let me enter the credit card info...
  8. July 2009 NCLEX Support Group

Grats jive and cornelius and others who are RNs as of today! (I do have to admit I got bluish tint question wrong, however. doh!)
  9. July 2009 NCLEX Support Group

Was thinking of you this morning 'b,bsn09'! Mine shut off at 75 questions. 4 or 5 SATA, lots of questions on cohorting, pedes, and psych, and lots more questions that made me go doubleyou tee eff. Bluish tints? Parasitic infections? Are they making u...
  10. July 2009 NCLEX Support Group

Taking it for the first and hopefully ONLY time on the 27th, will have results on the 29th. Good luck everyone! :rckn:
  11. New Grads, A Few Words of Encouragement

I want to meet a person who doesn't get stressed out over losing their house because they cannot find a job anywhere doing anything (yes, it's that bad here, unemployment is 18% locally). I'd love to know their secret.
  12. nursing student

Nail clippers, ibuprofen/acetaminophen/etc, extra pens and pencils, pencil leads and erasers, gum, ponytail holders. In a bag for yourself make sure you put in a pair of earplugs and extra batteries for a tape recorder if you plan on using one.
  13. "Four months after you start class (Dec 07) will be the start of the longest recession since World War II. Two months after you graduate (May 09), the unemployment rate will be at 9.5%, the highest it has been in 26 years. It will be hard, if not imp...
  14. New Grads, A Few Words of Encouragement

I hear you. I gave up a job with the government that I'd have made over 80K with during the time it took to get my ADN. Short term sacrifices for long term gains and all that... but I haven't seen my gain yet. I don't have time to wait for the job ma...
  15. New Grads, A Few Words of Encouragement

How long has this crunch been going on? I started hearing things at school in March or so, but in reading older posts it looks like it started sometime in 2008? This may be a dumb question... but does getting a job become easier once you have a licen...
  16. new student, not what it seems.

Which nurse do I want taking care of me: The one who gets "above average" grades without studying, or one who goes the extra mile and actually cares to learn, comprehend, and apply the content? Hm...tough choice!
  17. Scared... insight needed.

You won't know how you'll react until it happens. Focus on breathing slow and deep in and out and repeat to yourself to focus on the patient. This is what kept me upright and conscious while observing a birth (which I went into thinking "oh, piece of...
  18. What makes NS so hard?

You are picking up information, skills, terms, and jargon all at the same time, in a short period of time. Since everyone has their own style of learning, you have to take the information presented and smash, distill, compress, and mold it into a for...
  19. You know you are in nursing school when ctxt

Your friend's parents now find it necessary to tell you every med they are on, along with their last lab results :omy: You are now the person to beat when it comes to discussing "the worst/grossest thing I've ever seen is..." amongst your non-medical...
  20. Those of us on summer vacation...

I had a really hard time "detoxing" from school. The week after classes ended for the summer, I went through the syllabi for the fall's classes and started reading and highlighting the material we'd be covering. Now that I'm a month in to break, I'v...
  21. On discharge day, doing a final head to toe assessment of a 15 year old who had just given birth to her first child and suffered a 2nd degree laceration. Leaning down and to the side, looking at her peri area, noting that the area was healing nicely,...
  22. Share The Weirdest Reasons Patients Push The Call Light

In my first clinical at a nursing home, I was making sure the resident was all set before I left the room. I handed her the call button and... she pressed it. I was standing right in front of her and she pressed the call button :smackingf
  23. You know you are in nursing school when ctxt

Oh geez, that is the truth! The other night I dreamed a classmate and I were having problems setting an IV pump. I was awoken from the dream by loud static coming from the television. I had the remote in my hand and was mashing buttons on it - the TV...
  24. Things you would LOVE to say to your nursing instructors...

To the instructor of first half of second semester's clinicals: Please tell Stephanie to kindly shut up about her marital problems, namely her husband's incessant appetite for sex and her lack of desire for it. I don't like her and having to listen t...
  25. what are your thoughts nursing students? ...

I decided to go back to school because I had a BA that I wasn't doing much with. I decided on either an ADN program or a MSW program. The advice given to me from social workers themselves is that social work is a dying field. There will ALWAYS be a ...
