Sounds about right. You would have to fill out an event report. "Event report" isn't just for things that happen but to bring attention to near misses or other situations. Your event report on the that might change a policy on monitoring of patients with NG tubes or other things. Don't see it as a negative or blaming.

Do not return list is just a list with their agency/hospital that you couldn't go back there. nothing legal!! Probably can't use them as a reference. Sounds more like she was threatening you, but what ever, just move on to the next job, I wouldn't be stuck on a company that has to threaten to keep employees.

No, it is not a HIPPA violation. Unless you know that by asking your church to pray for a patient in your hospital, then going to describe her in detail with some knowledge that someone in the congregation knows her/or can guess who it is. For example it is not against HIPPA to ask your church to pray for your patient in the hospital (NO NAME) who is ill of (i.e..) Cancer. It is in violationt to say "Please pray for my patient who is ill, she is dying of Cancer. She has brown hair, blue eyes and 3 kids. Her husband used to live down the road from me. But now they live somewhere South. EVEN THOUGH YOU DIDN'T SAY ANY SPECIFIC NAME/MR #/ YOU DID MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR SOMEONE TO GUESS WHO SHE WAS.

She can request a review. She has to be willing to go beyond the nurse manager in this case.

Go to the nursing school counselor, you may have to repeat some courses...

Don't think you are going to find any luck there. Thats pretty much the story everywhere....

If you do this job for the money then you will learn real fast that you don't get paid enough for the the stuff we do... But the real measure is not how much money she/he makes but whether or not they are willing to do it for free..... Yes I get paid for what I do, but I also volunteered to help patients before I ever got my degree. I would do it for free. I hope you find other reasons to go after a nursing career. I know we all had our reasons but if your main reason is the money then I am scared to see the type of nurse you will become. Your heart has to be in it.

I gained during nursing school. lost a little during clinicals, but gained it back eating to stay awake finishing care plans all night. Working now... don't know yet... less time to eat thats for sure!

I think I love it when negative people say "I don't know why they do this to us..." I hear it all the time too. I just want to say HEY you don't likey??? You leavey!!! I just can't take it as well! I hear more complaining than people working! Yeah there are some new rules and policies that just make work harder but hey you know what its probably going to cover your ass at the end. I remember this one nurse spent more time bitching about this new form than the time it actually took to finish the form! Silly.... But you also have to put yourself in the hospital admin. place. You are the one responsible for everyones life, and you want to make sure your nurses are responsible, doctors are responsible and so on... So to make sure that certain things/steps are done I think they come out with these forms to be filled. So you can't say you didn't know...

What hospital will you be working at??? I work in the medical center and live in uptown. I am bout 20 minutes away but the traffic is bad. Crime is really high too, but to be honest with you it's high even in the 'burbs. Not sure what is going on.... But if I could live anywhere I would choose woodlands and work at hermann hospital there.... Less crime, prettier, less traffic....

Oh no.. that is not at all common!!!! We actually believe our lactation consultants are more like mafia mob bosses... it is all about that breast! We encourage breast feeding.

Well I won't say where I work but I know most of our patients are illegals. We don't ask that, we have social services speak to them about insurance and other resources. Sometimes we get a family whose parents are 20 with 6 kids.....

Don't work ER but I agree with having a reservoir on floor, or what about wall units? I know will units are not possible in busy ER (rows of beds, no rooms except for shock rooms). Is there a nurse to check off on tanks? Check them every 2 hours or so? O2 going at 2-10 L /min would still take some time to run out... Sounds to me that the people before you should have been more observant of the O2 levels in the tanks. I know they don't fill them until they are empty due to safety precautions but they should also have some full on stand by so when a call comes in they can just come exchange it with you. ????

if its the nursing board that you will have a problem with, then it sounds like you need change states..... Nursing boards from my understanding cover states, not individual counties.
