  1. Hey Lunden nice to hear from you, Thanks for asking if I got in, but I didn't apply. I started Brown Mackie's LPN program and have 7 months to go now. I am just going to gom to OCC and do their TPN program and I just recently found out that OCC now has a 1 year LPN-RN program and are accepting Brown Mackie students. I am kind of disappointed now, because I probably could have got in because I retook psy and that made me have a 3.6 GPA, but I'll just look at it like I will be able to start working next year as a LPN making decent money, while I do an accelerated program. But good luck to you LPN or RN school it is very rough.
  2. I'm going to Brown Mackie in Ohio. Good program so far lots of work but it will be worth it in the end. I also heard of something called Global University don't know how realible it is, but I heard they do LPN and RN.
  3. Good Luck too you both hope you get in. I applied to WCCCD twice once in May for August 2008 and once in September for January 2008. Got rejected twice because the GPA cut off was 3.7. Now I'm doing LPN for now because I couldn't just sit around and wait, then I'll go to a fast track program. It is very tough when you guys study, study, study. Nursing school has already showed me that it takes dedication to do it!
  4. Some clinical sites are closer to Michigan. She said some may be within a hundred mile radius of the school. Basically clinicals are still in Ohio, but you don't have to go to class afterwards. They even have carpools set up so if you need to get to clinicals you can meet in the lobby of the school. I live in Michigan also. I feel your excitement too. I hope I am able too sleep tonight, because after tomorrow I am just waiting for orienation on the 30th. Yah! Then off to class I go. You will love the school. They have suround sound set up in every class so the people in the back can here with projectors. So professional, so clean. There are four labs two on the first floor, two on the second. They are set up just like a hospital. I can't wait. Even though I am tired of school this will get me closer to my goal. I will let you see for yourself Let me know how it goes Friday! Good Luck!
  5. Hi Melissa, I drive is about 1 hour 45minutes. It's worth it to be in an Nursing program. They don't even care what grades you have in A& P all they need to know is if you passed it. Have your transcript sent from your school. If you have taken psychology and a computer class that will help also. A& P, Psy and a computer class is what takes months off. The program is actually 15 months, but if those classes are done then take four months off. I printed an unofficial transcript to take with me just for their records until they receive my official. Classes will be 4 days a week until clinicals then it will be 5 days a week. Only for about 3 months, after that class will be 2 days a week with one or two days of clinicals. All the classes are 1 month, because it is acclerated. I have to go back tomorrow for my financial aid appointment and to take my transitional studies test. Don't worry about the test it is only a basic math and english test. What ever part you don't pass they just make you take the class for 1 month and then you'll go right into your nursing. If you pass then you go right into Intro to Nursing (PN 1000). Orientation is on December 30th. I will find out class times for sure on that day. You will get in. Classes start on January 5th. Hope this helps and I will see you at Orienation on the 30th. On Friday they will interview you and give you a tour of the school (very nice) and you will sign your paper work, make you appointment for your Financial aid appointment and testing. Yea!
  6. All LPN programs are costly. Why I don't know. I going to attend Brown Mackie College in Findlay OH, becuase they don't have a waitlist and there not looking at GPA for admissions. It will take me 12 months to complete, because I have AP, PSY and CIS done. If you don't have them done then it is 15 months. In October 09 they are also starting an LPN to RN program for their students only and it will take 6 months to complete. Cost I don't care at this point, because I will have a ton of student loans by the end anyways. Staying here in Michigan retaking classes or transferring to different schools. Good Luck with whatever you choose, but Everest program doesn't seem bad at all and they do admissions in January, May and September. I just didn't want to take more test. If you have previous college classes they consider that for there admission points. I went to an information meeting.
  7. Hello all, I am new to the Ohio board, but not new to all nurses. I am from Michigan and I am thinking of attending Brown Mackie College in Findlay. I was wondering if anyone could tell me about this school or has anyone attended. How is it? Is it a good school? What is there pass rate on the NCLEX? Im just curious because I can't find much information on this school. Any feed back would be appreciated.
  8. Hi Fullofsm1lez, If I were you I would attend another information meeting just because so much is changing for Fall 09 admissions. But as long as you have the letter confirming that you attened a meeting to put with your application file you should be good. But don't quote me. No information is better than the information you hear with your own two ears. Here is a list of meetings and times for the information and application meeting from a meeting I attended on September 10 hope this helps: Information Meetings Times 5:30PM-7:00PM Tuesday, December 9 Tuesday, February 10 These are the only two meeting before the application deadline. Application Meetings Times same as above Monday, February 16 Thursday, February 26 this is the deadline meeting for Fall 09 admissions so this meeting will be at 1:00PM-3:330PM All of these meetings are at the Northwest campus. There are other dates but they are for Spring 2010. Hopes this helps and good luck!
  9. Hey Lunden the holiday was great1 Yeah I decided to transfer to WSU and take Chemistry and Speech. I figured what the Hell I might as well try another school while take classes that will help me to get on the wait list at another school. I get to take Chem 1 over there without having to take Intro to Chem. If I stay @ WCCCD then I would have to take Intro to Chem and then Chem 1. I am still going to reapply for Spring 09. I just need to know if changes will be in favor of the students. Like if you have taken all your pre-req's @ WCCCD will you get more points or what type of medical experience are they looking for etcc. BTW nice to here from you again also.
  10. Hey Lunden How is everything going? Are you going to stay @ WCCCD this spring or are you transferring to another school? I'm still so confused right now I really still don't know what to do. Take Care!
  11. They accept 120 students for August admission and 120 students for January admissions. They are changing their guidelines for August 2009 admissions so make sure that you attend an application meeting if you are not a student already.
  12. Hey Wayne State Katie, I have never had Chem before but I am a really hard worker and learn very fast. How do I attempt to get an overide to take both I am willing to try just about anything to be able to apply for Fall. I had a touch up with Chemistry by taking anatomy classes. Do they usually grant overides or since I am a transfer student is there any other considerations. You are such an informative person and I appreciate all the feedback you have given me.
  13. Hey Wayne State Katie or anyone is anyone fimiliar with Mary Frances Barber she teaches Chemistry1020 @ WSU. I was wondering if she was a good teacher, or is her class difficult. Thanks for any input.
  14. Hi again Wayne State Katie, Thanks for the words of encouragement. That's what I was wondering if I could take Chem 1020 instead of 1000. But what I was trying to figure out is on the site it states that applications are due on March 1st and completion of Pre Req's must be submitted by June 1st, If I were to take Chem 1020 in January and be registered for Chem 1030 for summer will they consider my application. On the site it doesn't list Chem 1030 as one of the Pre req's. So that's what I was considering. Because I have been rejected twice and I am really ready to start the nursing program soon.
  15. Hi Wayne State Katie Thank youn so much for all of your info. It is really helpful. I signed up to take Chemistry 1000, but I'm not sure if I can take Chemistry 1020 without having completed 1000 first Chem 1020 &1030 is what they want for the program. I also signed up to take an Oral Communications class (Speech Basically), because I have never taken it before. I am a transfer student and they took all of my classes that's required for their nursing program yah! If I could take Chem 1020 next semseter without having to take Chem 1000 first then I could take Chem 1020 in the summer and maybe I could apply for next fall. What do you think?
