Geez. these just keep getting better!

Hmmm, I've been a grocery bagger, a teller, a loan officer, a secretary/receptionist, a military wife (followed him to Germany for awhile), an assistant teacher, a checker, and a pricing manager (in that order). Most of time I was also a full time student. Sheesh...I've been in school a long time. What a fun thread!

I'll be 28 1/2 by the time I graduate next December ('08). Shoulda, coulda, woulda... Doesn't sound old to me, but I want to start a family soon (and all the other things that go along with it!) so I'm fighting with how long I should work before doing that. Geez, I haven't even started school yet and I'm already worried about planning for a family!

Are you only looking in the Ohio area? California has several schools with that type of degree plan. Check the state schools.

Maximus, I, too, have several W's on my transcript for various reasons over the last 9 years, all of which were replaced with A's. My overall GPA is very good and I scored high on the NET. So, evidently the ABSN program I have been accepted to doesn't seem to mind the W's! I would call the admissons counselor at the school you want to apply to and ask, just to be safe. How can this be? I live in Sacramento and hear all the time how EVERY hospital around here is in need of nurses. There are new hospitals opening in the area soon (Roseville-Kaiser for example) that must need nurses. Has anyone here tried looking further south for jobs (such as Stockton, Lodi, Merced, etc.)? Also Sutter Davis hospital seems to always be hiring (and I believe they have a new grad program). Wow...this thread may be the saddest I have read yet! I will start NS in January and had hoped to work in this region when I graduate in December.

I got my call this afternoon too...I got into the ABSN program for Sac!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:monkeydance::monkeydance::monkeydance::monkeydance: I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off of my chest!

Me three!!! I'm taking Organic chemistry now just in case I don't get into the school I really want to go to. I have the HARDEST time getting any studying done for that class because I'm constantly checking my email or chasing down the postlady. (I think she thinks I'm pretty crazy at this point.) I heard yesterday that decisions will be out in the next two weeks... THe other three schools I've applied won't tell me anything until November. Arrrggg.

I took ethics, as well for my humanities course. (And, I also had a bit of an egomaniac as a teacher.) I took the course several years ago but I remember thoroughly enjoying the material. Good luck to you!

I'm trying to keep my daily routine of freaking out about this to myself... Last thing I heard was that decisions will be out by mid-October. They are still accepting applications for the ABSN program. Waiting, waiting, waiting.

I sent one app out at the end of June and won't know anything until mid-October (27 spots/100 or more applicants). Sent another app out two days ago and won't find out about that one until late October (40 spots for over 300 applicants) And, am sending another one out Monday (also 40 spots with over 300 applicants). I think I have one more place to apply at the end of this month as well. I've been on pins and needles every day for the last few months! I check my email several time a day and almost attack the mailman every afternoon! Good luck to everyone

So, today was my first day of o-chem. And we jumped right in! My teacher handed out the syllabus (didn't go over it much) then dove right into the first lecture. It was just a basic review of chem. After looking through the syllabus after class I think it'll be ok.

I took micro this summer and there were 26/26 pre-nursing students in the class! Every pre-req I have taken so far has had 95% or more pre-nursing students. Good luck in micro!

I'm taking O-Chem this fall. Bought my $120 book today...yuck. I liked regular chem but have heard horror stories about this course. Not looking forward to the next 16 weeks.

There are several choices for Pharm but Patho was a bit harder to find. I took Patho through Woodland Community College (In Woodland, CA) and Pharm through Sac City (in Sacramento, CA). Both were totally online. They weren't too difficult. I got A's in both but it's hard for me to get a lot out of online courses. I learn much more through traditional courses. Good luck!

I've signed up for Organic Chemistry Developmental Psychology Medical Dosage Calculations Preparation for Nursing CPR oh yeah, my favorite! Pilates! Looking forward to getting some much needed exercise :)

SMC-Sac still does interviews for all of their programs. Only the campuses in the Bay area no longer do them. Who do you have for patho? I just finished the online course at Woodland with Poynter. It wasn't horribly bad. Just a lot of reading. Turbohound had Scroggins so he can tell you about her class.

Hey turbohound! I did end up getting an A in patho but I dont feel like I retained much. Poynter had little to no input in the course. She took for ever to grade our assigments. I had a cruel little thing happen to me the other day. I walked out to the mailbox as soon as I got home and opened it to see an envelope from Samuel Merritt. My heart was instantly beating so fast! Of course I ripped open the envelope to see...............A dvd for Samuel Merritt. I'm on their mailing list. This waiting is killing me...
