I did not have to take a CNA course to get into Loyola and I will not have to take one to sit for the NCLEX-RN. I think you may have gotten some incorrect info.

I just hook up this thing called "iTalk" to my iPod and it go. We are allowed to record lectures and encouraged to put our recorders up at a table near the professor while they are lecturing. It is the best thing, I don't have to worry about space and quality is great. I got it for $20 on Amazon.

Just an update.... I was thinking about this post and thought it is funny that I am now sitting here starting week 4 at Loyola's ABSN program. Everything works out in the end. Woohoo!! Now if I can just keep my sanity over the next year

Well I start May 19th so I have orientation this week. I am also trying to add some exercise in, get the "office"/guest bedroom in order so I have a nice relaxing place to study. I am going to be off for a week before school starts so I am going to try to stock the freezer with some meals and get a bunch of warm weather recipes together so I have "go to" dinners and plans for dinners.

Like the PP said it is an accelerated program for students who already have a bachelor's degree in another area. It is 12.5 months but is intense, 5 days a week 8am-5pm.

Biggest fear: Failing! This is a huge sacrafice for me and my husband as I won't be working for 13 months. What you'd like us to know about you: This is my 2nd degree, in my previous life I was/am a CPA. I am married and have two adorable furbabies.

I will be quitting to start my ABSN in May. We are strongly advised not to work and I can't imagine working and finding the time to study, etc. Student and private loans will be my friend....

Thanks! Ours our white as well so I think I will probably by 2-3 depending on # of days we will have clinicals.

Hello! I just got my acceptance letter and start in May! We have uniforms we need to buy from a specific site, but no mention was made of how many to purchase. I was thinking at least 2 pairs, but I would love some input. Our uniform is pants, top and clinical long coat.

Good for you!! I am waiting to hear as well although I was told they would be reviewing my application starting Jan 10. I know they are doing rolling admissions...I just wonder how many spots are left....

Sorry to hijack the thread.... I am highly motivated...partially due to being type A, partially since it is so hard to get into nursing school and also since I feel obligated to do so since I have taken a huge paycut to go back to school and feel I owe it to myself and my husband. I am applying to Loyola ABSN, UIC, and Purdue ABSN. I can't wait to hear something!!! Thanks again.

OMG, thanks houstonmr! I have been on myself that I have to have straight A's to get into nursing school so I have been pushing myself. I have suprised myself as I have an accounting background and all this science is new to me, but I love it.

I don't have any kids but I do work and I took AP1, Micro, Chem and Developmental Psych this semster and while it has been hard I am almost done, Finals next week, and I have all A's going into it. You can definitely do it.

Hello all- I have a previous degree in accounting and now I am getting my pre-reqs for NS. I am in the middle of putting my applications together and I am really unsure if I should be trying to get my ABSN or Masters. I think I want to eventually be a NP or go into teaching but since I have never worked as a nurse I can't be 100% certain. I would love some feed back from people in similar positions. Thanks.

I am planning on A&P II, Survey of O-Chem for nursing majors & a silly intro to computers since my computer class from degree one is over 5 years old. Um, hello I use computers everyday - 11 hours.

You can do it! I am taking A&P1, Chem, Micro and Developmental Psych as well as working 20 hours a week. It takes a lot of motivation and being organized but it can be done. I am 32 and trying to get into a ABSN program so no time to waste! Good Luck!

Hello all! I did a search and didn't come up with what I was looking for.... I am preparing my nursing school resume which is due in a little over a month. I am applying to an accelerated program for 2nd degree students. I have been out of school 10+ years and have been working strictly in the accounting field. I started my prereqs this summer and I am doing well, 4.0! I have a great resume for getting an accounting job, but was wondering how I need to tailor it for the nursing program. Any thoughts or input is greatly appreciated! Melissa
