  1. EEWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!! I think I would bust a gut if that happened to me! Ok, here are mine and some of my other comrads....we were just talking about this the other day... china bowel in a lady parts....that she couldn't get out and the Doc had to "fish" it out for her. A lady that was scalped from a MVA and they found her cell in her head flap. Electric Toothbrush in the rectum...this one was funny. Everytime he walked by the station all you could hear was "BuZZZZZZZ" Oh...remote on ABD folds..."honey change the channel" thats all I can think of right now....
  2. LMAO! That is too funny Triage....:)
  3. I wish somtimes that I could go to the ICU for a little while and learn some of the skills that the ICU nuse are expert at. Some drugs we don't see very often in the ED, you see everyday in the ICU. Vents, and diffrent procedues we don't do very often in the ED you can get some really good experience in the ICU. Another unit I would recommend is Tele. I came from cardiac backround, and found out that ED nurses are not so great @ tele. This can be very helpfull in emergent situations.
  4. BOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! RADIO!!!!!!!! I don't think its the EMS we don't like, its the sprained finger they just brought it...LOL
  5. I love when the floor says "Oh, we are to busy to take that pt right now, hold on for an hour or so." I wish I could say that to the ambulance that just brought that MI in!!!!!:chuckle
  6. I just recently had a women OD on wellbutrin extended release. She took like 8 times the normal dosage. We had to monitor for QTC widing. If it got to large she could go into v-tach. I'm not sure if it causes any irrversable damage though.
  7. I totally agree....I never hesitate to call pharmacy, or ask someone else. These reactions and incompatablities could be really serious. It's up to us make sure it dosn't happen.
  8. HAHHAHAHA! I love it! I feel that where I work in an ER we are very close with our Doctors. We are all on a first name basis with all of them. I think we spend so much time with eachother it would be weird to call them anything else.
  9. Ok this is too funny.... how 'bout--- I'm gonna leave if you don't do this for me! Do it. I dare ya. Diabetic starving----(and 300lbs)---"It's 200pm and I havn't eaten a thing all day, and I'm diabetic!!" oh hear me whimper....awww... poor baby, why didn't you eat before you got here? What does this look like McDonalds? Oh, am I suppose to say "Do you want fries with that vicodin?" LOL Veins Vern-----"Oh, they can never get my veins, they have to use a Butt......HEY!! YOU GOT IT!!" That's all for now...nice post guys :)
  10. Thankfully we never do...It always seems that at 1300 the ED gets crazy busy....That would suck if we were a Nurse down!
  11. I worked for an ambulace service and this was one of thier stories... 2 medic got called to a CPR very late at night. Upon putting the pt in the bus and turing it on the radio blasted sooo loud "SHOT THROUGH THE HEART AND YOUR TO BLAME....." While they were doing CPR and intubating this pt. They kept telling the driver to turn off the radio, and he kept saying "I can't! It won't even turn down!" Of corse, this happened all the way to the hospital, about a 15 min ride...and the radio has never acted up again!...True story :)
  12. Man, that's how I want to go!
  13. Yoyo...I am sorry for you. this is a pain right in the butt. I transferred from Penn. to NY and what a hassel! It takes twice as long as just getting your licence in the first place! Make sure you call both state boards of nursing and fill out all the forms both states need or else you are in for a longer wait. And, don't forget to pay those fees!!! Try to get your Florida license before you get your job, and it also helps if its not at the same time the grad are getting thiers. If you have trouble, try writing your local assembly man....it worked for me!! They put a rush on my license and I finally got it after 3 mo of waiting!!
  14. Speaking of flight nursing any one know what they pay???
