  1. Congrats!! :balloons:
  2. I am so upset! The community college near us just started fall registration and does NOT have Chem 2 (organic) in the fall! I need it so I can apply to nursing school (12 month accelerated program) by Dec. 31 because they are changing admission policies after that. So, this summer, I am driving 2 hours to take Chem 1 at another college (not offered at the one here) and will have to take A&P at the same college in the fall on the weekends because their course is 6 credits and counts as 2 classes at the college here. I at least thought I could take Chem here in the fall! I do home daycare so it isn't like I have a flexible schedule! GRRRR!! Sorry for the vent, I need 4 classes by the end of the year and it has been so hard (and stressful) figuring out how to do it. The college here is run by idiots! I am taking on online Biol class at the nearby college this summer, and you wouldn't believe how rude and unhelpful these people are. To get a loan, all I needed was a letter saying how much tuition was and the class dates. They would NOT do it until some time AFTER the drop date! Ummm...how am I supposed to pay for the class if I can't get financing until well after it starts??
  3. I have Biology 111 via distance learning May-Aug. Just got the book and looks pretty easy, except we have labs to do at home! :uhoh21: Chem 1 ("real" class) June-July
  4. The 12 mo. accelerated BSN program I am doing (already have a bachelor's) is $17,000 plus about $2000 for the couple classes I need before then at a community college. The loss of income, cost of daycare, and gas (1-2 hours away) scares me even more, though... Oh, well, it's only 1 year!
  5. I am really nervous about this, too! I remember in High School the smell of the frogs just about knocked me out, not to mention I don't like live frogs up close, either! (Gee, maybe I shouldn't be a nurse??) I am really glad that dh and I will be taking Anatomy together in the fall! :)
  6. Well, he'd better help with your dd, he is still her father and that's his job! Also, just because you make more does not necessarily mean that you will get no support, all fathers are obligated to help with their children's expenses no matter how little they make. I hope things continue to go amicalbly during the divorce. BTW- if you do decide between the two of you that he will be caring for your dd while you go to school, GET IT IN WRITING throug Friend of the Court! I'd hate for him to decide a couple weeks into your classes that he doesn't feel like it anymore. Good luck! :)
  7. Where do you find the coloring books? I love the picture idea, too!
  8. I was thinking about doing CNA before starting Nursing school since I'll have a year with just a couple of online classes to do. Dumb question- but are the phlem jobs through hospitals or labs, usually? Anyone know what they pay compared with CNA?
  9. Me, too! I have Chem 1 June 11-Aug 2, I am scared to death! :uhoh21: I just got the book and glanced through it and wonder what the heck I am thinking doing this during the summer! I saw the term "mole" and cannot for the life of me remember what that is, the only meaning that has had for me the past few years are as some horrible creatures that got into our shed and made a nasty mess! I also have Biology this summer, but it is distance learning from May-Aug. I am hoping I can get a lot of that done before Chem starts. My chem class is also 2 hours away, 4 days a week, so I am just dreading it on all levels. I will have my daycare kids here 7:30-4 over the summer, so I'm hoping they will be happy playing outside a lot and I can study while watching them!
  10. Very true... not to mention their schools are horrible, so that doesn't help attract younger nurses with kids in school, plus homeowner's insurance is crazy! Dh kept saying he wanted to move there until one of his friends did, he doesn't want to anymore!
  11. Just curious which study guide is the best for taking the NET? The Eri one? Also, how much study is needed, or is it pretty basic? Are there science questions, too, or is it just English and Math? I have been looking for a site that details what is on it. Our school uses the computers, but says nothing else is allowed in with you. You can use paper and pencil for math, right? Sorry for all the questions, thanks for any help you can give me!
  12. Thank you! I have called or sent emails to all of those schools! My next question- looks like I have about 4 classes to take for all of the schools since mine have been a few years. I could easily have those done by Fall 2008, but it looks like you have to have them done before you can apply? And if you have to apply 1 year in advance, what are you supposed to do with the year you are waiting to see if you get accepted?? Am I missing something?
  13. How exactly do the point systems work? Do they go by grades?
  14. Hi, I was just wondering what kind of grades you need to get accepted into a school? I have a BS in Mktg already, but only graduated with a 3.3. Not bad, but not great, but at the time I worked full time, went to school full time and was a single mom. Should I have any problems getting in? Also, do I have to take a test to get accepted, I am a little confused with the other posts I've read. Also- I called our community college yesterday and there is a 3 year wait to do your clinicals. That was pretty depressing, I have more calls to make today to see if other schools are like that, too. I have a friend who is also going to school for nursing, and she said that you can get in and out of Baker quick- if you have all A's. Is that how most schools work, do you need all A's? I've only gotten one C in my life, but am worried if I need ALL A's... Is it any harder getting accepted into 4 year programs than 2 year programs? Thanks for any advice!
