I'm 54-do three 8 hour night shifts a week. Once in a while will pick up an extra day. Still doing OK with this, but I think full time would be nasty. However, have to tell you that I do work with some one who is older then I am, and she does full time. Also had an RN retire last year who was 67 and full time til the last night!!

Our patient's rights info packet that we are giving to folks upon admission to our facility includes a paragraph about doc's writing. Tells people that if they can't read the script a doc gives them, they should demand a new one. Should be interesting to see what happens with that.

Medical floor-guy in DT's and a doc who doesn't medicate for that. 1 RN and 3 security guards injured in the free for all. Yeah, I feel threatened.

SOunds like you done good hon, and I agree, the intern is the yo-yo on this one. My first year of nursing was on a tele unit in a small inner city hospital that was scary on a regular basis. Many days got in the car and cried with relief that no body died during our shift. Hugs to you, and just remember all nights will not be like that.

I think floating is a lousy word to use to describe the whole situation! SOunds light and airy and easy. Alternative combat assignment would be more accurate. IMHO.

Connie, you are So right! All of you remember, they never put "SHE WAS A GREAT HOUSEKEEPER" on anyone's tombstone. When my house was trashed(like most of the time) I just blamed it on the good fairy not showing up AGAIN to handle it!

Donn't get too bummed about this first test, now you have a feel for how it will go, and the anatomy stuff Is easier to "get" then the cell stuff, I think. The Kreb's cycle!?!?!?!? Never got it , never will!!

Graduated at 49. Got downsized out of "the largest competer company in the world" in the early 90's. Took me awhile to get my ADN, but is has worked out well for me. Am still doing floor nursing at the moment after 5 years, but I do agree, a plan B is a good idea. There are many different roads to travel as a nurse-that's one of the +'s. It is rewarding, heartbreaking, and NEVER boring!
