  1. :heartbeatthanks, you are most helpful!
  2. hi I went to the clep site and they have an introductory to sociology clep. And you can pay $10 and get a downloadable study guide for it. So am I correct in thinking this. I can pay the $10, study for the clep, go and take the test, pass the clep, and then Excelsior gives you credit for sociology, instead of having to go and pay the $200 for the excelsior test. Am I correct? I am just learning all of this. thankyou.
  3. what do you have to have to pass? or what is their grading scale? At my current 78% is passing, anything under is failing.
  4. I check in here daily, too, even though I'm in the CPNE-wait holding pattern. :) It's so much fun to watch everyone's progress! I never thought I'd be the one waiting on the CPNE. I enrolled in July of 2006, but didn't take my first exam (A&P) until May 2007. I didn't even take an exam that required enrollment until I had been enrolled for nearly a year! Whoops. Live and learn. Lunah, please tell me why you said this because I was planning on taking as many classes as I could (gen eds) before paying the enrollment fee. Why did you say live and learn? What is wrong with that, or what does it do or not do for you if I go that route? thanks
  5. vonda, maybe we can keep in touch, I graduate LPN in July. Here's to the future!
  6. ok, I called and asked. Got my questions answered. I am always looking towards the future!!!
  7. thankyou, can you just take general ed classes while you are finishing up your lpn? Or will they not let you in at all without your lpn? thanks
  8. ok thanks. I plan on calling them tomorrow. My husband wants to take some courses at home as well, he wants to go full time and get his nursing degree but can't until I am done. I do have a free online account.
  9. I am working on my LPN, have only a few months left. Question #1Can I send my unofficial transcripts to them and have them tell me which classes I will need. ?? Question #2 does this still cost the $75?? I realize I will need the nursing 1-7 classes. I am figuring I need sociology and micro, and maybe an english. Question #3 Does that mean I can enroll for $75 and take sociology, english, and micro while waiting to get my LPN, then apply, get accepted and then pay that $895 yearly fee? Those classes are considered general classes right? Question #4 Can anyone pay the $75 enrollment fee and start on their general classes? You would think excelsior's website would be easier to understand. It seems complicated. I am so afraid that I will enroll and then not know how to work the system. Is that stupid or is it actually easier than it seems. Used to a brick and mortor school here. Please help ! thanks for those helping, I feel like a ding dong!

  11. How much does the code take off?
  12. yes I guess I will be waiting, I left several messages and emails. so it will ge the waiting game for me. on EC website it clearly states to check with your own state.
  13. oh another question, does anyone know forsure if EC is accepted by ohio to sit for the nclex-rn?? I tried every way to get ahold of the ohio bon and all i got were machines. leave a message. And could not find any of info on acceptable schools or accrediable schools on their website. Misty
  14. I called ohio board of nursing, all i got was machines. But I left messages and I emailed. So I hope to have an answer about attending them soon. I wonder how quick they are about answering. LOL If anyone could still answer the other questions about EC about the gen. ed. stuff that would be great. The one about the $75 and gen ed classes and stuff. thanks in advance.
  15. how do i know which gen ed classes I will need? the enrolling/applying is confusing, do I still need to pay the 75$ just to get them to speak to me? Or how in the world do I download this nc-1 and take the test for free and get credit for it, if not enrolled? sorry for all the questions. thankyou for the useful info I will be calling them today.
  16. oh another question, does anyone know forsure if EC is accepted by ohio to sit for the nclex-rn?? Misty
  17. I am in my 3rd quarter of LPN school. I am interested in starting EC, especially since this clinical test thing said a 6-8 mo. wait. I want to get through my RN asap. Since I don't have my LPN yet, can I still register free and go ahead and start on the NC-1 test for free?? Or no, do I have to show proof of LPN, (which I don't have, because I am not one yet) I hope this made sense. thanks in advance. Misty
  18. sad to say, but you are there to become a nurse and you have to put that priority first. If you make a good friendship along the way then you are very blessed. But so far, I have been in nursing school almost a year and have learned some very hard lessons, that although I am in my 30's now, women can be just as bad as girls who were in high school. Very hurtful. For those that make wonderful friendships, then that is fantastic. Just don't let your heart get broken and let it deter you from finishing your goals and dreams and taking care of your family.
  19. thanks for helping explain that. appreciated!
  20. what is the difference between clinical death, biologic death, and brain death?

I am just starting my 3rd term, believe me there was NO sliding through! No extra credit was given at all. You must pass all tests with a 78% to pass, homework is not included in that. Homework is a bonus that can raise you grade after you have passed tests with a 78%. They feel if you cannot pass the tests then you cannot pass the nclex. Nclex doesn't give extra credit, and nclex doesn't care if you have test anxiety. I personally know 2 people got kicked out last semester for cheating. It isn't tolerated. I guess anyone can say anthing they want unless they actually go there. But I actually attend RETS (right now) and can tell you that the sliding through and extra credit stuff is NOT TRUE. ( or everyone would make it). There have had a little teacher turnover that I know off.
  24. I agree with you poster, but I think it isn't nurses just angry, I think it is humans. I haven't worked in a decade, went to nursing school. I am probably the 3rd oldest person in my class. I am 33, and most are younger than I. I had no idea how unhappy most people are, 95% of the class if extremely rude to their classmates, teachers, and have no respect at all. It is quite amazing the ethics and morals that are out there. I was really surprised. The social aspects of the people around me is harder to deal with than nursing school itself, and we all know nursing school is very hard. I just figure I have to get used to it, it prob won't be any better in the actual field. But think positive, you can be one of the nurses or humans that have a good outlook on life, you can respect others and ect. I know everyone has their bad days, I have had way more than I want to admit being in nursing school. But many people seem as if they just are there to make life difficult for everyone else. My spouse has just as many complaints about his job.
