So, to be clear, my background is as a nurse circulator in the OR, in outpatient chemotherapy infusion, and as of now I do telehealth. Do you think that working telehealth will hurt my chances of getting a job as a nurse educator (preferably online)?

Hello! I am finishing my RN to BSN and am considering an MSN-ED, but when I look for jobs in that area, I only find jobs for DNP's. Is it possible to teach with only an MSN-ED? If so how do you find available jobs as I've been looking everywhere I can think of to find examples of MSN-ED jobs.

Graduate 12/15/11 and took my NCLEX RN on Thursday (1/19/12). Got my results 3 hours ago, and felt like I failed the entire 2 days because my questions were SO hard... but today I am an R.N. in Texas! Btw, the Pearsonvue trick worked for me :) Good luck & god bless!

I suck at and hate math, I took every remedial math course to get into my program, I also scored like a 58% in math on my nursing school entrance test (but a 98% in science), and got into my school of choice on the first attempt. I went to Oakton, but transferred to TCC in Texas to get my ADN. I have worked full time throughout school - prereq's and nursing school, even though everyone said it can't be done, and guess what? TODAY I AM A R.N.!!!!!!!! You can do it!!! Hell, I dropped out of Sandwich, IL H.S. 14 years ago, and all I can say is it takes hard work and dedication. TCC is one of the most sought after BSN programs to get into in the state of Texas, and I thought I couldn't do it. I also thought I may fail due to overwork/school the entire 2 years of my BSN, but I didn't. YOU CAN DO THIS - and if you have any doubt (which god knows, i was plagued with), message me. The best advice I can give you is don't give up, and when you get in IMMEDIATELY apply for all PCT positions available. Most grads in my class are having a hard time getting a job, but the few who did were PCT's during the latter half of their ADN program. GOOD LUCK, GOD BLESS, KEEP US UPDATED! Oh, also my hospital pays for the ADN to BSN as long as you've worked there before becoming an R.N. - and may I add, I am 32 years old.

Wow, that was biased. I am a high-school dropout who got my GED because I was sick of getting beaten at home & honestly, i've found that very few people at my work act like this, but the 2/50 who do have their BSN. I feel that if you are a "low class, ignorant person" that is probably just how you are, and maybe you should reflect on what you say before you say (or post) it.

Swore I failed, but the Pearsonvue trick worked for me!! Passed with 77 questions on a Thursday and found out 48 hours later on a Saturday in the state of Texas that - TODAY I AM A R.N.!!!!! :w00t:

Got into school on first application even with the crappy math score. Graduated in Dec. 2011 with no math problems throughout school. R.N. as of today!!!

Amazing to me how so many people can afford not to work. If I don't have a job the baby and I will starve to death.

I was also told I could not get pregnant and here I am, 11 weeks along, and about to graduate from nursing school. Luckily, I've been working as a Nurse Extern at my hospital for over a year now, so it should be easy for me to transition to become an R.N. After reading these posts I just want one thing clarified: As a single mother with no family or anyone else to help me out, some of you think I should not become a nurse at this time? I should forget the last 4 years of hard work, put a smile on my face, and work for less than $30,000 a year, just because it will mildly inconvenience the staff at work? I wonder what you would do in my situation?

I changed my job from an inflexible 5-6 day/wk vet tech job to a 3 night/wk PCT/Nurse Extern job at a hospital = less stress & more $!!! Can't loose, but it took 6 months of applying to get the job. Good luck, it can be done!

So i'm only just starting adult, but what? For infection check your (CBC) WBC count, for electrolytes check your (Chemistry) sodium, potassium, chloride. Blood Sugar lvl for glucose, but i'm not sure that all patients w/ MI would be elevated. For Liver disease check your SGPT/ALT and SGOT/AST. Hope this helps a little!

Some ppl just don't retain written information as well as others, check your book for a CD. Also look online for harder concepts (Youtube), but make sure the source looks knowledgeable. The best thing you can do is to practice NCLEX questions, either online or order a book like Saunders or Kaplan NCLEX review that re-caps all the important info. for each subject and gives you NCLEX questions to answer. Won't know for sure until I graduate, but from what I've heard starting out pays around $22/hr. I guess it depends on your personality, but if you like Chicago, go to downtown Dallas. If you like it a little more laid-back, Ft. Worth might be your style. I particularly like the HEB area in between the cities, although Arlington is cool too. I suggest coming down for a week and spend 1/2 the time in Dallas and 1/2 in Ft. Worth and also research job availability here too. I hear the job market is becoming more crowded. I don't want to upset you or anyone else, but to me Irving seemed dirty and crowded. I am aware that there are different parts of Irving and maybe I just didn't live on a good side? I lived right off 183 near the airport and Walmart. Anyway, didn't mean to offend you.

Good luck. Tried to take it while also working on a full-schedule of pre-req's. If you want an "A" take it alone. Otherwise do like I did and take it until the drop date and drop it, unless you're getting an A, or i guess, a B. Now at some schools, like mine, you can only take a class twice and you get the higher grade, no matter what. Good luck. Take it slow and get good grades!

Well, my GPA was just a little above 3.5 and I made a 60 something percent on my TEAS (which by the way is no indicator of what your science skills are I failed the math 'cause I ran out of time). AND GUESS WHAT? I GOT INTO A SCHOOL THAT ALL THE RESPONSES TO MY GRADES TOLD ME I WOULDN'T GET INTO! If you need to, go ahead and retake the TEAS and reapply. If that doesn't work, retake the science classes you'd like to get a better grade in or do it in the meantime. (Although I think you can only do this one time now.) Lastly, have a second game plan. I'm in a nursing program and ppl still fail out once they're in. God forbid I don't make it through all 2 years. I'm gonna say **** IT and do photojournalism like I always wanted to, or try and get in the dental program, although i'm sick and tired of programs you have to "try" and get into, even though I got in the first time I applied. I feel that it is valuable to learn a lesson like that, but not at the risk of failing out after only a few weeks. When I asked the teacher why we only get 2 chances she said: "that's the way it's always been". Um ok. Here's my response: Nursing practices decided a while ago not to judge the person who made the mistake but the system that failed. I also found out that almost half the class of 120 failed. I think it's time to rethink your teaching and testing strategies. The teacher also said ppl in adult were failing b/c they didn't know how to give injections. Well, no wonder, when you are only give one shot in your first semester and you are randomly tested on one injection (or two if you fail the first). Insulin and IM injections involve many different steps. I told her that I knew it would be more time consuming, but why not grade students on giving all 4 types of injections and grading them on each one instead of the 2 time pass/fail testing currently in place. Wow. The students might actually learn something. I also just learned the definition of "fidelity". Little good it will do me if I don't pass on Monday. I will certainly remember to have it if I pass, unlike my teachers, when I deal with clients.

I was given advice earlier in my im/sq post "stick to yourself, don't trust anyone else". Unbelievable and sad, but it seems true that in nursing school you should not stick your neck out or trust anyone. period.

Drop the "due to right foot pain". But otherwise looks good. You may want a second opinion as i'm just a first semester.
