  1. Amber, I am not sure what you mean? I see the Anatomy course, but what is prob? Just curious. Once I find this out maybe I can help you.
  2. Can you tell me exactly how many semesters it will take to complete Rn program at LMU? When do they set up advising sessions and what is discussed during that time? I only need the nursing core classes-already have pre-req's and would also like to know how they set up the class schedules for someone like myself that only needs the nursing courses. Also, how many days a week per semester--Thanks for any info you might have time to give to the future LMU students.
  3. Which classes did you have trouble in? retook? Just curious.
  4. Amber, I was recently accepted into LMU RN division starting this Fall 09. I am a non-traditional student that has been trying to get into an RN program since completing LPN school. It has actually taken me 2 years to get to this point. I am excited, but somewhat nervous due to being out of school for a while. The admission process was rather simple and my grades ranged from Low B's, high B's to a few A's. The greatest amount of emphasis is put on the pre-reqs and what you have actually completed. Note: if you have not taken any A&P, Microbiology courses, this will weigh on some of the process. Do not give up and do whatever you can to get to the point that you can call yourself an RN. Other people do it, why not you and me? Thanks, TJ
  5. I would like any information regarding the schedules at LMU, how difficult the Math is, information on Advising session--what actually takes place,, etc. For all the LMU students attending this year this would really be helpful. Thanks, TJ
  6. I will also be starting NS in Fall 09. I am wondering who may be attending LMU/Knoxville Tn? Anyone out there doing this and let me know if you have had an advising session as of yet. Thanks, TJ
  7. I would like to talk with you regarding LMU RN division and specifically have some questions regarding Math process with the nursing.. Thanks
  8. So refreshing to hear, but I do not think you want a 48 year old sitting next to you--LOL! I have been in your shoes prior to returning to RN school. I hold a degree in Histotechnology/Pathology, medical transcription as well as LPN just recently completed. Hold your tongue, and sooner or later they will not be there to annoy you--LOL!
  9. Touche' my fellow nurse. I could have not said it any better..
  10. I started not to respond to this, but felt the burning desire to do so. I am wondering if this is a "Bash the non-traditional student agenda?" First of all, not all non-traditional students think they know it all, there are a lot of us that are willing to accept failure and challenge and exceed just like the younger students. I am disappointed in the fact that all people are stereotyped into one category. I have been trying for the past 2 years to get into an RN program and just this year was accepted. I look forward to the intense study and heartache just like everyone else. I recently graduated LPN school at age 46 and will be entering RN division at age of 48. I plan on finishing and working, and NO! I do not plan on dieing anytime soon--LOL! I feel it is important to follow your dreams and goals and never let anyone or anything stand in your way of doing so. I wish you much success in your nursing journey and ironically maybe working beside you one day--Who knows? What would you do then?
  11. Thank you so much for all the information. This will help a lot of the incoming LMU students. I will be in touch if anything else comes to mind. Thanks again. Tammy
  12. You will be fine. Do not let other peoples issues affect what you have going on. It is just always good to vent and have someone to listen. Good luck and stay strong.........
  13. Thanks. You sound very wise and hit the nail on the head. I have been married for ever (LOL-- only 17 years) and most have been wonderful, just a few more wrinkles in the mix. Take care and thanks for your input, it makes things nice to hear we are not alone.
  14. Hi Heather! I am now in your shoes for Fall of 09 at LMU. I am wondering if you can give the LMU students attending Blount campus some insight as to what to expect next.. Any info would be awesome. Thanks, TJ
  15. I stumbled upon this while reading some emails and felt the need to reply to all on this thread. I hear you everyone and can definitely relate to everything being said and vented. I am married myself with a husband that works out of the country, Nigeria, Africa to be exact. He is home every 6 weeks and out of the country the other 6 weeks. This puts him being home 6 months out of the year. I have a 17 year old as of tomorrow which I have raised practically alone since he hit high school. With that came teenage problems, homework, friend issues, etc. I really sometimes do not know how I have done it all. I recently completed LPN school and was just recently accepted into LMU for Fall 09 RN division. My husband makes very good money, which is one of the reasons we are doing the out of the country scenario, but with that said, I am having to pay for my schooling, gas, any expenses that I incur while in nursing school and make sure I have enough money to support our son. He allows me an allowance every month-- Go figure! I cannot wait to finish my RN, become self sufficient again and have the opportunity to say, Thanks, but no thanks-- if he does not "get it together" I too, once my son graduates next year will be working out of the country, traveling and finally following my dreams. If you have someone that is helping you even with slight aggravation, feel blessed-- your time will come and all of lifes little challenges would have been worth it. Just felt like I needed to vent somewhat--
  16. I have really been wanting to talk with you regarding LMU. I did purchase the math/med book and will be working on this during the summer. In LPN school we actually used the Pickar manual which was also a med/math book that showed us how to do dosage, calibration, ratio/proportion, etc. Is the math in the Henke's book pretty much the same and what edition are you guys using? I would really love to talk with you and get the inside information....
  17. Do not fret! It has actually taken me 2 years to get accepted into a RN program. I am currently a LPN, Histotechnologist and certified medical transcriptionist. My persistance finally paid off. I was just accepted last month at LMU/ TN school and cannot wait to get started again. I do believe in the saying,' as one door closes another one opens'. The timing for me this go round was great. I have a 17 year old and a husband working out of the country. I was feeling that mom (myself) would never get a chance to be a nurse, but determination and never giving up made this possible. I wish you lots of luck and your time will come-- it always does.
  18. Good luck to you and let me know how it turns out. I wish you much success and happiness in your nursing journey.
  19. I assume you are in the knoxville area or close to it. Have you heard anything regarding LMU nursing program? if so, fill me in.:smiletea2:
  20. Have you heard anything since applying? Any notifications via email? I also know that they accept anywhere from 30-40 people through the TSU homeschool. I believe the deadline to apply to TSU is April 15th and hopefully after that point, they will be contacting candidates either way. Also wondering if you have actually applied to Roane State or heard anything from them concerning RODP?
  21. I have actually applied to the RODP with homeschool at TSU. I recently was accepted into LMU RN division this month and not sure which direction I am going in. With the RODP you have to either an LPN or certified or licensed in another healthcare field. You have to apply online and from there your paperwork goes to a Board to see if you even qualify to be sent further into the process. It is a drawn out process, but it is doable. I recieved email just this wekk stating I had been referred to my "homeschool" which is TSU in Nashville. From there the TSU Nursing division will once again review paperwork and let me know if I was accepted into their program. The program works like this-- You will be doing online book work with clinicals 2-4 days/week (not sure on this) at various clinical sites such as VA, etc. Let me know when you applied and to what homeschool and we can talk further..
  22. I will be sending in my deposit of $100 for placement in the program. I will let you know what happens after that.
  23. You will do just great because knowing you are paying for all of it, makes things happen. I am hoping to obtain TN non-traditional lottery assistance for at least a portion of the book cost. I did find out the first class Nurs 115--books range from $400- 500 for that particular class. I am hoping this experience will end up being a success story for all of us.
  24. Also wondering if you had any medical experience going in and what is the next step after acceptance letter? We are all at a loss...
  25. I am thrilled to hear from someone at LMU. I am actually a LPN and have 16 years medical experience behind me as well. I have a degree in Histotechnology, nursing and medical transcription. I am hoping this will help me out. I am wondering how the schedules work at the satellite bases. I realize you are not at Alcoa, but it would give us all some insight as to what we are getting into. I am worried about my math skills because I do not like math and math does not like me. I made an 80% in Pharmacology and hated the class. Not the meds, but the actual math involved. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks so much!!!
