Mountain State University LPN-BSN program Info please
Sorry not sure of any in VA. We had students that commuted because they could not find another program. Sorry because I know that it is a very convenient program with only going to college one day a week for the first part then two days a week for the nursing program. Thank you, I am glad to be done. Mountain State University LPN-BSN program Info please
We stayed at the Martinsburg Campus, never had to go to any other campus. Our clinicals were at the Martinsburg Va which is about 10 minutes from the college, City Hospital which is actually the exit before college, and the Winchester Medical Center which was about 25 minutes farther than college but was amazing. It is just that we did not know when our were our clinicals were going to be until like a week before we had them at times, not always. I just felt that it was disorganized. If I could have gone to college more days or was out of work while going to college I would have chosen another college but I am just glad to be done. It was not torture but just disorganized. Dani

Mountain State University LPN-BSN program Info please
I started the LPN to BSN program at the Martinsburg campus in January 2006 and I just graduated on May 12, 2009. It is a 3 year 5 month program. For the first 1 year and 1/2 you go to class from 6p to 10p than the rest of college you are in the nursing program which is two days a week one 4 hours than another is clinicals which is a 12 hour day. You do have a 120 hour practicum at the end of your course that you have to do but you have about a month and a half to finish it. If I made it you can make it, I started with a 3 year old and now she is 6 plus I had 6 hosptializations during my 3 1/2 years of college for no less than 1 week at atime. It was very disorganized but I am so glad that I did it. You can make it but you have to a determined person to succeed. Dani

Mountain State University LPN-BSN program Info please
For the first 2 and 1/2 years you only go to college for one night 4 hours each night. Than the rest of the time which is about one year you go one night a week than 12 hours one day which our day was Fridays but each cohort is different, the class chooses the day they want to do clinicals. I live right on the WV MD line so my commute was only 20 minutes but there were 2 classmates of mine that traveled from down the road about an hour. Dani

Mountain State University LPN-BSN program Info please
I just graduated from MSU Martinsburg campus on Tuesday evening with my BSN. I was an LPN for 22 years before returning to college to get my RN, BSN. Mountain state is convenient with only going to college one night a week from 6p to 10p till you start the nursing part of the cohort than you go one night a week from 5p to 9p than one day for clinicals which is 7a to 7p. MSU is a bit disorganized but with the convenience you can do it. I am a single mom and have been hospitalized 6 times during my college time but made it. The program is actually 3 years and 5 months long. Good luck. Dani

Will you work during a Pandemic?
I have had Meningitis 6 times since March of 2006 with 4 episodes 2 months apart in 2007 so I would not go to work during a pandemic only because I am so suceptible to getting sick. If I did not have the history of all the hospitalizations then I would definitely go to work during a pandemic because as a nurse I would feel obligated to help people as I do every day of my life.

Am i doing something wrong?? Plaese Help
Flower, you need to do what is best for your family and for you. Your child needs to be around other children also. I am having trouble with my 4 year old because she has not been in daycare since she was 2 so she is use to being with my parents or me. I wish that she would have been in a more stable/child oriented day care. I have been an LPN for almost 20 years and I am very proud that I went to school and have the education that I do. I do not have to depend on my fiance's income at all. If something would happen to him tomorrow I know that our daughter and I would make it. I think that you need to ask your sister if she will take care of you and your daughter if something happens to your husband because if you do not get an education or foundation to grow on now were will you be if something does happen. Many families live for today like my fiance, not tomorrow or the future. We all never know how long we have on this earth but we all will have bills to pay and they do not go away without paying them off. Every little bit counts. Plus, your daughter will be proud of you when you show her that she can do anything that you set your mind to. I am currently enrolled in a LPN to BSN program but I only go one night a week. It is still hard and demands time but you can do it. Last, What does your husband say? It is all in what your family needs not your sister. Best Wishes, Dani

How many Nurse jobs have you had?
With 19 years of nursing background, I have had 7 fulltime jobs with the least amount of time was 1 year and the most time was 71/2 years. I have also worked for 2 agencies which I am still on there call list. One of the main reasons that I left any of them was that I just really needed a change due to administrative changes that were of course out of my control. Currently I work for the Department of Veterans Affairs and hope to stay with the federal government after I get my BSN. Nursing is a difficult and rewarding career with a high burnout rate in some specialties. I think all nurses are special because it takes a special person to take care of patients that are at their most volnurable time of their life. I have also done EMS for 15 years but left my certification expire in 2002.

Preparing for "transition" class for lpn to RN.
Hello. I am in an LPN to BSN program right now but currently taking the prereq. The best advice I can give you is go over any math/algebra that you can. We had statistics, nursing math, math and meds, and algebra. The other courses which we reguired to take over the last year was ethics, philosophy, sociology, english, and chemistry. Not sure if you have prerequisites or not. The other advise I can give is Great for you that you are returning and good luck with your classes. It is not easy but then again LPN school was not a breeze.

What would you have done? rant
When I was writing this I did not mean to demean any profession rather it be a nurse, paramedic or EMT. I should have typed slower and unfortunately my 4 year old was being a brat at the time. Yes, I have been an EMT and was one for 15 years as a matter of fact I was Captain for my station for 2-3 years before going through a divorce and needing some time off. I am sorry for the statement that I made about them being beneath us, we all have different skill levels rather you do EMS or Nursing but I have had many EMS personnel come into the nursing home which I have worked and made the nurses feel bad about calling them for different emergencies because they felt that we did not do the proper care or take the proper action of taking care of the patient and they were inappropriate and yes I was inappropriate for saying what I did and I take full responsiblity for the wrongful statement that I made. EMS is a very hard and stressful career as well as nurses and we all deserve to be respected for the care that we provide at the time of our patient need. None of us are perfect and if we were we would not have disciplinary action taken when necessary. Dani

Is there any LPN to RN BSN programs?
I go to the Martinsburg, WV location. I am not sure were you live but it is about 45 minutes from Frederick during traffic via 340. I am not sure were we are going to go for clinicals yet because I am not in the nursing courses yet. I am glad to help, or at least give you another option. Dani

Did anyone go to Hagerstown CC?
I thought about going to HCC but after I checked into Mountain State University I decided to go there. I really like that it is only 1 night a week and I am able to keep working and spend time with my family while still going back for my degree. I know a few nurses that did go to HCC and liked it. My nephews girlfriend graduates this month. Good Luck if you choose to go there. Dani

Roll Call, LPN to RN Students!!!
Hello. My name is Dani, I have been an LPN for 18 years, oops actually 19 years. I am currently enrolled in an LPN to BSN program which I have attended for one year now. I only go one night a week which I love because I am a mom of a 4 year old which I think sometimes is a full-time job of its own. I wish everyone returning to school good-luck and if I can help anyone in any way please let me know. For JulieLPN, I took Statistics last semester and fortunately passed but thank you to our professor which was an RN and left us use our books for our final or I would not have passed. If I can help though let me know. Bye for now. Dani
