A stupid question...
Hello, im still not a cna/lpn/or nurse, but in my looking into this, here in the US it looks like on average LPN course is 1 year, though the one nearest me is a 2 year, or atleast was, the website now says its being revised and gives a number to call so not sure what they are doing. As far as i know most if not all LPN programs here are non-degree, so it would be a diploma or certficate or something? not sure, here you can get an associates degree (could possibly be done in 2 years) in nursing and become an RN, you can get a bachelor's here as well. - jason

LTC Dignity
you asked if you were delusional, and i just wanted to point out that even if everyone who responded had said that you were wrong, even if everyone in your class / work place said you were wrong and just to do it fast etc., you would still not be delusional, we are most definatly, regardless of job, training, etc. we are to love others :) just because people who are supposed to be, call themselves, or called by others "experts" doesnt make them experts, or even right. defiantly keep that love of others :) - jason

A stupid question...
Hello, its not a stupid question, and i am not a nurse or an lpn or even a cna, but i am looking into thesea reas and other things, not sure what i am going to do, but i think it would be worth it to look at what your wanting to do, it does sound like LPN's are mostly hired in long term care facilities at this point, and i would think that doing the LPN and then a bridge program would cost more, though that may not be the case, but one advantage of doing the LPN possibly could be that if that is a 1 year program instead of an ADN which is likely a 2 year program, after being an LPN if you wanted to becom ea nurse you could do that online which would give you more time with your family and such. - jason

LPN now CNA?
just so you know the part about an RN not being able to be a CNA must be a state thing or something as i read something else today that talked about what an Illinois LPN didnt have to be on the NA Registry to work as one or something similiar. - jason

death

Flexible hours, but might this work?
thanks for the replies, and scheduling flexibility is large consideration to what i end up doing, if you would i could use examples of other jobs the agency type thing works for as i would like to look into those but at this point dont know what to look for. I like the idea of healthcare very much as it helps people, but i am not sure i can handle all the stress, some of the things id see, death, and so on, of course i know God will give me the strength to do it if that is what He wants. i am trying to look into all this right now. so job flexibility and job openings are a big part of it, id also like, as you have noticed from other of my threads/posts that i would like it if job skills transfered to outside of the hospital/work setting. also amount of pay when working is a factor but not the main one, the pay of nursing compared to other jobs with the flexibility that i know about seems nice thanks - jason

LPN be a CNA? Shower Naked? Nurse in Community?
I am wondering about nurses capabilities outside of the workplace, but that is just noe part of the things i am wondering about, as i would also likely have a job in healthcare if i go this route, im thinking this sounds rude, i dont mean it rudely i just mean that yes that is a question i have but not the only reason i am looking at nursing and related fields, but yes i am wondering how much nursing might help me help people outside of work, in teh community or abroad, would this benefit anything beyond what i could do from reading a book and not gonig to nursing school? I wasnt sure about vaccines as i read about an RN planning for vaccines abroad, but this of course was likely part of an organization that included other health workers with the ability to get the medicine. i also read in a book that i dont think was intended for professional level healthcare workers and it talked about getting vaccines as part of a village health kit if you could keep them at the proper temperature. thanks for the replies and info :) - jason

Made a mistake last night.
Hello, this is kind off topic but i think its okay... someone said they are not a tech and such, what is a tech as compared to a cna or lpn and what is the actual title of a tech if i were to look it up? dont really knwo what all to say, most of us make mistakes, no matter our job etc. and it looks like you handled it correctly in telling the nurse adn taking responisibilty for what you did. and it would seem you care and are learning from the mistake. thanks - jason
