Accdg to an article i read: "The shortage of nurses has eased due to the economic downturn. Nationwide, nurses are delaying retirement, moving from part-time to full time jobs, and putting off career changes. And some who left work are now returning in order to cover expenses when their spouses have lost their jobs. In addition, some hospitals have laid off workers or even closed. However, hospital nursing executives say that the shortage is still very real, especially in rural areas, and they worry about the future. "One of my major fears is that people will feel that the nursing shortage is ending," said Lynn Whisman, chief nursing officer at Erlanger hospital in Chattanooga. "There is a lull right now, but it is going to be a short-term lull, and the nursing shortage is going to get even worse." So let us not lose hope, guys. Maybe they're really just finding it difficult to place us. What we can do is continue praying and continue the faith.

Graduate Nurse, can't find a job
I am also jobless right now but I am not giving up hope. Maybe the recession has slightly masked the nursing shortage. but i know this is only for the short-term. So dont worry too much

I really don't get it why we are even required to get IVT. I think it's just for money-making schemes. Grr. We are already nurses.

Cambridge Healthcare
Hello. Quick Update. Last April 2 2010, Patti Mowery (Director of Education and Recruitment Consultant Cambridge Healthcare) emailed me to revise my resume to include any ICU experience I've had. Im an ER nurse. I did revise my resume and along with it i asked if there are still no job positions available for me. She replied " It is not safe to say there are no job positions available for you. Finding placement is a little more difficult due to the the economy, however there are still needs for nurses with your experience. We have presented your resume, and continue to present it to many of our facilities. We hope to have good news for you soon. From Patti" To that I said thanks and hoping for a positive feedback. I dont know what to make of it. I am barely keeping my hopes up. It's been 5 months of waiting (since November). I resigned from my job already! To those who resigned from their jobs due to CHC's promise of deployment, where are you now and what are your plan Bs?

NM License Renewal, anyone?
Hi. I am a NewMEx licensed RN whose license has already expired due to the many inconsistencies of the NM BON. I faxed my application last June 2, 2009 but 2 weeks later got a snail mail from them asking me to re-send them my form because the printout of the second page of my renewal form was not clear. Is it my fault that their fax machine ran out of ink? Anyway, i resent them the form thru fax again, to which up to 2 weeks had passed and there was still no update on my status in the NM website. No transaction was made by the BON in my credit card. I called them several times but only got voice mails for every single contact in their directory. Whats the point of having a phone if you only answer it with voicemail? I am living in the Philippines and calling internationally does not come cheap. And now my license has expired. I have no choice but to fedex them the renewal form and ticking the box for "renewing late: 200 dollars". I am very disappointed with how they handle such matters. It has been 2 days since their receipt of my renewal form (basing it on the FedEx website tracker), no update was made on the BON website re: my status. What r ur thoughts regarding this? Anyone had the same experience? Thanks!

NM License Renewal, anyone?
hello everyone! im about to renew my license in new mexico. i have yet to step foot in the US since there is retrogression. i have a slight concern in answering the renewal form of NM. based on the form, (http://www.bon.state.nm.us/forms/RN_LPN_Renewal_Mar09.pdf -- for your reference) it asks: G. Principal location of work in nursing: State __________ County ______________________ Zip ____________ City ________________________ I do not know how to answer since it doesn't specifically ask for a country. it assumes i have work in the US. should i answer New Mexico (but it's not true, i only intend to work there once i get my visa) or just state Philippines (which is true since i am working in the philippines)? thank you for your help guys! better safe than sorry. =)
