Maybe someone could help me out....I have been looking for a job now for awhile I didn't think it was going to be like this. I thought as soon as I received my license, there would be numerous jobs for me to choice from. I have taken my resume to over 20 nursing homes, as well as faxed a few from newspaper ads. I have been on monster, career builder...... So far not one call. I am puzzled since you always hear that there is a nursing shortage. Does anyone know of any nursing homes that are hiring in the Queens/Long Island area? Any help would be appreciative.

  3. Thanks PN2B2008!!! I don't know how you all in CA can stay sane waiting for your results, the 2 days I had to wait seemed FOREVER, I will send some good vibes your way and hopefully I will be congratulating you soon :)
  4. OMG I can't believe it, I took the NCLEX PN 8/22 which i thought was going to be a BIG mistake since I was going to take it in september thru suzanne's plan. But while I was waiting for the 2nd part I was like "you know this stuff what the heck are you waiting for" I had been studying everyday since I graduated in June, and today @ 9am there it was.....your results are ready (talking about nervous). I have never in my life taken a test where I felt unsure whether or not I passed. I had tons of questions like "which patient would you take care of first", delegation, 2 med questions, calculating intake, tons on parkinson's disease, infection control. When the computer shut off at 85 qs I thought i was having a heart attack that I raised my hand before it could get to the survey. Walked out of there like "what in the world was that". Just wanted to thank everyone for their support including suzanne !!!

  6. Hello!, I went thru a LPN BOCES program in Rockland so sorry I can not help you with the books they should have given you a list at orientation. The best advice I can give is to study, study, study and when you don't know something don't be afraid to ask the teacher. Stay after school to review your test so that you understand why you got the question wrong. Make sure you take time out for yourself because the program is accelerated, so that you are able to process all that information. Having experience as a CNA should help. I graduated this pass June, the months went by sooo fast. Just stay focus and you should do just fine!!!!:)
