I worked in social services. 2 degrees along with being bilingual will get you $13/hr to start (assuming you can even find a job). So yeah, I feel pretty fortunate to be a nurse.

I had a three week plan. Most of the info was relatively fresh from taking the HESI a few months prior. week 1: Hurst live review; review what we went over in class week 2: test myself using Saunders (book) questions and reviewing what I was weak in. Answer Lacharity questions. week 3: finish up Lacharity, do questions from Sanders (CD) and Hurst review (website). Brushed up on Pediatrics using the HESI review book (it's better than Saunders). Make sure you do the SATA questions on the Saunders CD! What was not helpful: NCLEX 3500. Questions were far too easy. What is helpful if you're weak in pharm: HESI review book or Saunders (although Saunders has a little too much info) All in all, I was surprised at how much easier the test was than my professors had made it out to be; they put "the fear of NCLEX" into us from day 1 of school .

I would skip the review course (IMO); it's pretty easy.

It's possible another student complained about the fact that you (and other students) were allowed the extra time. If you're the curve-killer, any kind of extra help you get (such as extra time) is going to draw a lot of negative attention to you and seem unfair to the students who are struggling.

I agree. (P.S. You didn't miss out on anything -- I did get in, and all I have to show for it is a lot of debt (!)...and a less-than-glowing "image" of doctors:lol2: .)

You can't compare the two. The classes required for medical school are much harder and more competitive than the courses for nursing school. organic chemistry... At my school, pre-meds weren't even allowed to take A&P because it was considered an "easy A" to boost the ol' science gpa.

I haven't decided. I may apply to both the regular and the fast track programs.

Hi, I'm a pre-nursing student with BS's in bio and psych, 3.5 gpa overall (graduated 10 years ago). I expect that I will get A's in A&P I and II (have 100+ averages so far). Unfortunately, when I was young and stupid I made C's in Texas government and advanced microbiology. I plan to retake them this summer. I had made B's in some of my other prereqs back in the day as well (in various chemistry classes, a history class, etc.) Do you think I need to retake everything and postpone applying for another year? The thought of enduring Texas government again doesn't thrill me, but I like to hedge my bets. I appreciate any feedback!

woo hoo! 100 on my first test. I wish all of the exams could be this easy!

I'm getting a better education at my cc than I received at my large public institution. I'm being taught by people who want to teach rather than (1.) indifferent graduate students who are sleep-deprived and overworked and (2.) surly professors who would rather be working on their research or climbing the administrative ladder than teaching 100+ pre-med and nursing students. Most of these professors made no attempt to hide their disdain for us "pre-" students (read: not future graduate student/slaves working in their labs).

If your bf is already acting like that, I guess it's better to find out now rather than later (when you're knee-deep in a nursing program). I speak from experience. I dropped out of med school (partially) because of a bad marriage. I should have dumped the guy and kept the dream! Just my opinion

Hi, We don't start until Tuesday, and my prof doesn't even have class info posted on his website yet. I'm taking A&P I, A&P II and nutrition.
