  1. This post really helped me too! I did my first day of clinical today and I feel the same way I am so afraid to make a mistake I am paralyzing myself. Does anyone have any advice about chart documentation? I don't want to look like a moron. I am used to charting as a nurse but this is quite different does anyone have any advice. Where would I find the SOAP notes for clinical that were mentioned in a previous post anyone know? I'd like any help I can get.
  2. I am a per-diem nurse and I work in all of the facilities that our company owns. One of our facilities does the bedside report. Personally, I don't mind it but I know plenty of nurses who hated it. Some of the concerns I heard were the lack of confidentiality because of the other patient in the room and having to find each nurse. I have given bedside report and some things we save for outside of the room. While in the room I always try to speak softly enough that the other patient cannot hear what I am saying. For the most part I have not had a bad experience with bedside report.
  3. I think most of us do receive 1$/hr for taking charge. check your facilities policy.
  4. I just wrote a paper for my MSN concerning medicating the dying patient. In my research I have found that most times clients do not receive adequate symptom control at the end of life. I am a hospice educator and I will tell you this you must as a nursing professional advocate for your patient. Advocating for your patient includes medicating them for pain and keeping them comfortable.
  5. I don't think it will fly right away. They have been trying to make a BSN entry level for a while now and they can't b/c of the shortage. There is a shortage of NP's too.
  6. Hi everyone I have been reading the threads about FMC and I was wondering what do they pay? I have one of their clinics about 5 miles from me here in SW Pa. and I was considering interviewing with them. I was wondering if it would be worth my while. And does anyone out there know how much the travel agencies pay for dialysis nurses? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  7. Hi all, I am very interested in PHN I did apply with the state I doubt they have received the app yet though had to send it via snail mail. But anyway does anyone out there know is this the only way to obtain a position? I wasn't sure if the state was my only resource and I know here in Pa state jobs can be hard to come by. Any thoughts??
  8. Hi, I have to chime in I have had two different salaried positions and each of them expected the same you do what they want when they want. I have noticed at my place of work certain people don't have to take on extra and others are expected too. It is out of hand. We now have new management and it is getting worse the new team talks to us as if we are not human. They send offensive text messages and I have spoke to other nurses who are just as upset as I am. At one time this was a decent place to work but it has gone down the tubes. The new sup seems to think that we enjoy running 40-50miles out of our way to go into another nurse's territory that is refusing to do an admission. Needless to say I have cut back to PT I plan to teach in the fall and I do plan to quit entirely at some point. I am basically just staying on the books until I finish my practicum for my MSN. But in reading the posts I don't think salaried positions are for everyone there were good days where I worked in the past which made up for the long stressful days. But lately the long days with extra work have become a commonality and it's burning nurses left and right.
  9. Anyone know what the laws are in Pennsylvania?
  10. Hi I am rather new to this site and I want to venture into aesthetic nursing. I live in Pa. I need to find somewhere to take the courses and someone who can help me along in getting a business started. I have seen some advertisements for different courses and just have no clue where to go. Please help.
