  1. well guys i was reading the dress code again and apparently they have revised it... it says white socks or neutral nylons must be worn with the uniform. uniform style shoes and laces must be clean and white with low heels. no open toes, backless shoes or sandals. "white clogs with non-porous top and a back strap are permitted." hmmm... it says this was revised starting july 2,2007.. so... i wondering what you guys think.. i maaaay be returning my other shoes and getting some crocs.. woohooo. :monkeydance: also i wonder if this means we can get the crocs with the holes on the sides but not the top.. lol.. the "professional" ones. im kinda excited about this i hate sneakers..

Its just math and reading.. everyone says the reading is the challenging part you have like 36 questions in like 30 mins i think... and some are big paragraphs... u can skip through questions and answer all the ones you know first you only need to get a 50% in reading and math... buy the NET hobit help book they offer at the bookstore!!! it helped me pass it no problem at all... You know your score immediately.. its really nothing to be nervous about at all.. good luck!!!

i really liked the anatomy coloring book and... barron's anatomy cards sometimes helped me for the labs when you have to memorize all the parts..you can get both at the bookstore or at amazon..good luck!!!!
  4. Hello hello, i am starting nursing school in aug.. and well i haven't taken eng102 yet.. the nursing school lady called me on this and recommend it i take it before i enter block three.. Soooo.. i was wondering if any of you guys have take it online at Rio.. i had a bad experience with microbiology at rio, so im a little hesitant on taking it there again. I want to get it done and she told me not to let it interfere with my nursing classes.. i would love any opinions on where or how you took English 102 while in the program.... i know i just should i have taken it a little earlier... pfff.. :trout: thanks everyone i always appreciate your help! =)
  5. i applied in june 06 to and was accepted for fall 2007.. i believe placement was back in march.. I have waited a year for the maricopia community college... The nursing adviser told me that the high amount of applicants and the amount of spots the wait can be 1-2 years... depending when you get drawn... it is all just luck.. depending on what program you choose.. how many spots.. and how many other people want that location.. i was really lucky to get my first choice! good luck.. its the worst wait.. but it really has made me more relaxed to start i needed the free time...
  6. wow thanks everyone for your help.. good info to know! :monkeydance:

  8. i applied in june and i just got placed... during this placement...and not all the june people were placed... so you prob have another semester wait..
  9. Hello Hello. I am starting nursing school in the fall and im trying to buy all my stuff early so I don't need to deal with it later. I already bought all my books from the book list... So... now i want to order a stethoscope online and I want your guys opinions on a good one that you like. Is there a certain one that MCCD nursing programs recommend..? I really just need a good.. maybe cheaper beginner one. any help would be really appreciated!!!!
  10. i took micro at Rio it was very hard... i got A's on all the homework and test but the finals I could not do them... it was very hard to understand the labs..and was tooo much material that i was not confident on i walked out of the mid-term test it was at like pv mall upstairs..werid.. the computers are really really old there... you could hear everyone typing really really loud...i could not concentrate at all!!!! I was so annoyed.. i left halfway through the test..i just couldnt get the answers.... looool and i usually get A's in science. I took the class during summer school at scc and i learned so much I loved the labs its so much better when its hands on.... i do not like rio at all.. icckkk waste of money... i felt like i didnt learn hardly anything... and i study alot... i bet rio makes alot of money... i know tons of people that have dropped a bunch of classes ... =/
  11. For Maricopa community college nursing program... after you got orientation they will tell you when you have to buy your scrubs.. You are only allowed to buy there scrubs also you only wear them for clinicals. You have to buy your own stethoscope, and there is a book list of about 15 books u have to buy and a bunch arent cheap. You also have to buy a practice at home kit thing that is like 80 bucks. Have you gone to the orientation yet? they covered all this during that time.
  12. I bet you cant wait to get it =) I checked the mail everday! haha... Good luck with school.
  13. Yes it did. monday 7-7 tuesday 7-7 then tues-thurs was 9-2:30..If you have any more questions just message me I will answer. Thxs.
  14. I got mine two weeks ago for scc... I already have started getting shots and getting stuff signed... there is an orientation on the 30th for scottsdale.. im not sure about yours.. maybe just need to call the school and try to talk to someone...good luck
  15. well i just got the schedule for block one.. and clinicals two days a week 7-7 is that crazy.. plus classes?!?!?! ahh.. this makes me worried lol
  16. I wonder if anyone knows anything about scc's program.. if you do id like to hear it thxs! =)
  17. I took both Bio 202 and Bio 205 last summer and they overlapped for a few weeks!!! ahh nightmare.. Bio 205 was really not that bad, but Bio 202 was really hard... If your not used to going to school I do not recommend it.I think bio 201 is harder than 202. But for me I am glad I just dealed with it in the summer. I made me finish all my preq's faster.. and now that I finally got accepted into nursing school... The summer was way worth it.

my friend applied at ASU he took all the preq's he could at the community college and then the rest at asu. You have to pretty much like said above a 3.8 overall gpa.. I believe there is about 60 spots for there nursing school. They have a regular one and accelerated one but... i heard over 500 people applied.. and if you don't get in you really don't get in.. there is not a next time... like at least at community college you can wait, and u will get a spot... I hope this kinda makes sense.. lol
  19. It is about $5,200 for the two years of nursing school. Thats including book and tuition and stuff. I remembering reading this on the application form... hope this helps!!
  20. ya that is the trick, you are able to scroll through all the questions.. answer all the easy short paragraphs first. Then go back and read the ones that are longer and your not sure of. This really helps because you dont spend all the time sitting at one question, u are able to at least get half of the ones you kno done. and even more!!. resulting in a passing score! =) hope this helps! good luck! I did the same method on the math part.
  21. did u buy the study book for the net they have in the bookstore? that helped me alot get through the reading... and i read all the shortest paragraphs first.. and i skipped around.. i did not go in order.. that helped too!
  22. I know im so nervous I hope i get in the the fall.. I have been waiting for a year as well.. I feel like i have to crack open the anatomy book again because I forgot everything... I seriously cant wait until March 20th or whatever the placement date is!!!!!! I hope so bad I get in. I guess we will see! Im sick of my job just let me in already!! I soooo feel your pain!!! Good Luck to you!!
  23. I took Rio microbiology online.. it was very hard to understand for me.. I had a A in the class but then when i took the mid term test i couldnt pass it.i studied so long... the review for the mid term test review was over 4 pages well over 100 questions of information and u had to look up each question.. When i took the microbiology class in the summer at SCC it was soooooo much easier for me to understand... without doing the hands on labs and stuff its very confusing... i loved the class when i took it in the classroom i learned alot... I got a A when i took it during the summer... I said im never taking a demanding rio class like that again! good luck to you! =)
  24. thanks everyone for your suggestions i really appreciate it... another question i have is, do most nursing school teachers allow u to use your pda in class with some of the recommended reference books*like the drug guides* I would hate to buy all this stuff and not really be able to use it.. some of my teachers in the past have a bit old fashioned towards electronic devices lol!!! =)
  25. hello, i will be going into the nursing school in the fall *crosses fingers* I was wondering if you guys had some recommendations of some good books i can start to buy and even start reviewing. i need my brain to start working again... I bought one of those pda and need to buy some nursing software but there is so many...and now that I have a little bit of money I want to start building my collection lol.. so.. if anyone know of some really good books that helped you through nursing school and want to share id really appreciate it thanks!
