Unit Coordinators
Ok the sceniaro is this: When you are hired at your job 5 months ago there were lots of other nurses. They all leave one at a time to go else where. Suddenly the unit coordinator leaves as well to do MDS. This unit is a rehab unit for hips, knees so on so forth. Suddenly you get asked you need to be unit coordinator. you think they are joking. However, today you get asked by human resources and the DON if you would be instered in the position. It is very demanding and you still have duties as a floor nurse as well. Problem arises when you find out they hired two new nurses and they are RN's you are an LPN. Does this pose a problem?

First LPN job
Wow I just don't know where to start. I thought I would go into my job scared and forgetful. I was wrong I was scared but as the day went on I loosed up and the nurse side came out full force. I work on a rehab unit. It is busy, hectic and very exciting unit. The admissions, discharges, meds, doctors. Hard to believe that I am a nurse i guess

How Do You Manage Kids/household/school?
When I was in school I juggled work, boyfriend at the time and 3 kids. It was hard when it came time for the nursing program I did quit my job. The clinical hours were crazy so I had no choice. However, I did get remarried and he was wonderful in helping with the girls, and cooking. My biggest problem was daycare and kids homework. 2 of my girls are mentally challaged not severe but mild so homework at daycare was a big issue, but no other choice but to send them to public school. But it was doable once I had everything planned out. Keep chin up it will work out.

NC and excelsior college
The BON emailed me yestarday and told me they accept excelior. Great! however it also said that I needed to make sure i wanted to go this route because if I ever moved to a state that doesn't accept the education from Excelsior I wouldn't be able to practice in that state. NC is a compact state by the way. Why is that? What makes Excelsior so different from a regular class room besides the fact it is all online and you don't do clinicals every week? I am so frustrated now.

How long was your wait for the NCLEX-PN?
I graduated in July. I just took my boards on Sept. 11th. A friend of mine took her 2 weeks after graduation. I could have but opted to wait I had my ATT on August 8th, but waited to test.

Any advice would be nice
Its not really about less patients. I actually did take the one that is M-F but it is like a hospital type unit. For patients who are ready to be discharged from the hospital yet not fully able to go home until they get more rehab.
-
Any one who just passed the NCLEX? Please share your experience and study tips.
I recently passed as well. I answered bunches of questions from saunders and many many more.
-
i know the number.....
hi it was a friend of mine who had the 205 questions and she did pass. I took mine 9-11 and passed.

First job
Well after much deliberation I have finally been offered a job as a nurse. I will be working in the rehad unit of a LTC. It is very nice. I don't actually start until Oct. 9th, but it will be worth the wait. I am so excited. Do the nurses treat you any different being that you are an LPN and not an RN, because I do know that there are some RN's working there but mostly LPN's.
-
i know the number.....
I know the number of questions answered doesn't mean a hill of beans, but what is the percentage that someone who answers say 205 questions before the machine cuts off actually passes the NCLEX?

Question: please help!!!!
NC is a multistate practice privilege. so when you get your license i know you can practice in virgina, SC, tennessee and texas, there may be more but i am not sure of them all.

Any advice would be nice
I have a small dilimia going on in my head. I just recently passed my boards so as a new LPN I am searching for jobs. OK I found this really awsome nurisng home which looks nothing like a nursing home and pay is good 17.50 M-F no weekends and holidays are rotated. It is a fast paced, but not over loaded. Nurses have to alternate in helping with the physicians orders so everyone rotates the front desk during their shift. It is 45 min from my home. The lady told me she wants to hire me but she went to a conference and she even called me saturday and talked to me. So I am sure I will hear something soon. Then there is this other nurisng home which offered me the position and want me to start monday it is a dollar less and I have to work everyother weekend and it is only 15 min from my home. Here I will be taken care of 30 patients at the other 20 or less. This dilima is killing me and my husband just says which ever one you want. I need a job, but I am afarid of jumping at the first one that offers.

Lpn school
I live in North Carolina and got my PN from Rockingham Community College (Wentworth), also Guilford Technical Community College offers LPN (greensboro). Those are the only two I can think of right now. RCC is wonderful. The cost is not too bad either. I would say roughly 3000-4000 for the whole program.

Passed boards last week
i passed my boards last wednsday. Now it shocks me to answer the phone and get offers from nursing homes, doctors offices. One waiting in the wings because i really want that one, but haven't heard yet. But two interveiws in one week and one today so wish me luck. Also I am proud to be an LPN because I worked very hard to get here and plan on getting my RN. Be proud of your LPN or PN status you change peoples lives and help people everyday.

I HATE asking this question!!!!
Well I just graduated and passed my boards and so far with my job interviews the lowest I have been offered is 15.50 higest is 24 and that is for the weekend shift on 3rd.
