  1. Well, I usually make A's on my papers, I just REALLY hate them (in our ADN prg we write at least 4-5 papers a semester..is that common for other ADN prg?)...I have a hard time putting them together with research and stuff... Oh well, I was hoping. As for documentation, I always get really good compliments. I think I just hate to write b/c I hate to research and put it all together. I dunno. I guess everyone is different. Maybe I'm just lazy when it comes to that b/c I have never liked to write. The more I write I guess the more I will learn to enjoy it. Thanks for all your help.
  2. I couldn't find a forum appropriate for this question, so I figured this one would be ok. I am graduating from an ADN program next week and I am wanting to look in to continuing my education within the next year, possibly two. I have heard that there are many different online programs. One of the main issues I have heard about are that some of them require tons of papers to be written. Some don't. I don't know about others but I HATE to write papers. I have difficulty writing a good paper and would hate to go back to school and be steady writing papers. My main question is, do you know of any of the online (reputable) colleges where they don't require a lot of papers to be written? I mean I know there will be paper requirements, but I just don't want to be writing a paper every single week, I'd rather be learning nursing curriculum. Writing is my weak point. Thanks for any info.
  3. Thanks for all of your info on this. I just find it kind of funny our nursing school has never mentioned this to us. Not that is makes a difference. I love to learn knew things. I am so excited about graduating and starting work this June! YAY!
  4. I will take a look at your resume and cover letter if you like. We just finished a 2 week lecture on cover letters and resumes. Things to do, things not to do, and so forth. PM me on here if you would like me to take a look. Good luck to ya! I graduate in May and I have a job starting on Surgical Unit. I have a lot of people in my class who have job offers for the ER. So, obviously they are looking for new faces there.
  5. Why does one need to do CE credits when they become an RN? They haven't mentioned this to us at all in our nursing classes that we would have to take credits or anything. I'm just curious why one needs to do this? I actually have a few test from the AJN that I have completed and will send in when I get my license, I just want to know what they do for me besides gaining knowledge? I hope this makes sense. Thanks for any information.
  6. I'm wanting to make a folder of papers and information I will need when being hired. I know they will make a copy of my drivers license, they'll want a copy of my nursing licenses, but what other things will they want? Thanks so much!
  7. I need to come up with 5 in order from most important to least. I'm drawing a blank!! 3 month old with DS adm for FTT G-tube inserted protuding tongue under weight 2.86 kgs language barrier with mother no english alert responds to stimuli, calms by mother's talking and holding low set ear and eyes good cap refill P 140-150 bp67/45 temp97.6 R 45-55 appears in no pain HELP !
  8. Thank you all so much, these were very helpful. End of semester and my brain is fried!
  9. I also already have impaired phy mobility and impaired verbal communication.
  10. I need atleast 5 nursing diagnoses for a pt who has had a R. brain stroke (MCA), L weakenss (CVA). Hx of CAD, HTN, hyperlipidemia, hx of 2 CVAs, cardiomyopathy, lg. ventricular thromobis, heart cath., CHF, RF, and facial drooping. I had too many self care deficits. This pt could do pretty much everything for himself except wash parts of his body (underarms), but I already have a ND for that. HELP, please!!
  11. toriphile23>> it would be hygiene, she didn't know how to wipe properly and it was causing her UTIs.
  12. Thanks jade. I will definitely pm you if I can EVER think of any more diagnoses.
  13. Thanks. And I do have the NANDA ND book. I just don't know how to word the diagonosis for pain being that it is coming from two different sources. One being her arthritis and the other being from her surgery. Thanks again for you input. I think my brain is failing me with all this stuff! lol
  14. Any help or comments would be great. I have to do a nursing process paper and we have to have 10 Nur Diag prioritized. Also, we have to do 5 Care Plans on the top 5. Any help would be great, and rationales as to why it should be 1,2,3,ect would be great as well. If any of them are basically the same thing let me know that as well. Thanks in advance! 1. Pain --how would I write a diagnosis on pain for a lady who recently had hip surgery and has osteoarthritis pain?? 2. Knowledge deficit wiping 3. Skin integrity 4. Ineffective tissue perfusion 4. Risk for falls 5. Impaired physical mobility This is all I have so far, I'm struggling to think of five more!! But are these in the right order? Rebecca
  15. I suggest that you call your advisors at each of these schools. Tell them you weren't accepted and that you would like to know what you could do to up your chances for next time. They may look at your file and wonder why themselves. Things happen, they could have accidently looked over your file, or you could have left something out of your application, most colleges don't call you and let you know that you are missing anything, they just send you a letter saying you didn't get in. Call, but as I said, I would speak with my advisor who directed me with my nursing information, if you didn't have one of these advisors look on your website and see who the nursing advisors are and call and ask to speak with one of them. Good luck!
  16. OMG! I kept refreshing and I know I visited the page every 30 mins to check from atleast 9am to 9pm last night! NOTHING. I was fearing that the site may have shutdown! I'm a pesimist some times! Just glad its back up and running!
  17. Our ADN prg runs from Fall of this year to Spring of 2008, so it is a little short than two years by a couple months, and that is with pre-reqs included (16 Credit Hours, 17 credit hours, 11 CH, 12 CH, and 12CH, each semester in that oder). You can do your pre-reqs before hand or you don't have to. I got accepted with having none complete. I did however sign up for the API and MATT this summer so I will have that out of the way. It can be done, but they do advise no more than 6hrs a week of outside employment. Good luck to ya!
  18. I'm glad you started this thread. I, too, start nursing school this fall! I'm very excited and have been wondering myself if there was something I should be doing. Which I really haven't had time to look at anything else since I am trying to hold an A average in A & P one. Which that might not happen! lol Anyways, glad you posted this! Can't wait to see more replies!! Rebecca
  19. Sorry that addresss was so long. When you get to that page enter in the box where it says ENTER JOB TITLE. HTHs Rebecca Also, I just put in GA info to see what it would be like if we moved!..lol..I'm from SC so the 21 an hour still applies..ok...I think I'm done now..lol

I'm not sure if it is just THAT hosp or ALL trident. Also, check out the website I listed. It is great. Shows what you will appr make on your checks after taxes and deductions. Have fun! Rebecca
  21. i have never heard of this test. is it a nursing entrance test (net)? is it for bsn maybe? i had to take the net in order to be accepted into the nursing prg. let me know about this other test, just curious. knowledge is power! lol rebecca
  22. Its a big deal to me, too!! I am soooo excited! I start school this fall and am ready to get the plain ole white uniforms we HAVE to wear! (pats YOU and ME on the back) Good luck! Rebecca:roll
  23. Now you have me wondering if I should cancel my study session with a classmate tomorrow! I didn't want to do it, but she really needs to study (she has failed everything she has taken this semester.) If she doesn't pass from here on out, I fear that she will not pass the class (which is Anatomy and Physiology I). I have been doing great studying, but I have my husband as a study partner. I'm not sure I can study with someone, whom I am having to help. I think that motorcycle mama had a good way of putting it though. I will try it this time, but next time I may just be too busy. good luck with whatever you decide to do! and good luck in school!! Rebecca
