The most embarrasing thing you've done at work!
I was doing an agency shift in a high care nursing home. Whilst leaning over patient to turn her, she had dementia, she looked straight at my chest and said, "you have nice bazookas". I couldn't move, and had to wait until we had finished turning her before I could leave that room. I have never forgotten it, and it really makes me laugh when I think of an 88 year old women telling me I have nice bazookas!

Suffering thru night shift position for your kids sake
Hi, I did nights for a few months because I had twins that were under 12 months and an older girl at primary school. I thought I would do it for the kids, but in my instance, it wasn't a very good idea. I turned out completely cranky, moody, yelling at the kids and the hubby!! Wouldn't do it again. I worked casual days on medical ward for a while but now I have a permanent position as a research nurse working 9 - 3.30. I'd suggest if it's really getting to you, go casual until something with appropriate hours becomes available. If you are anything like me, it sometimes isn't worth it!

Syringes with no needles - garbage or sharps container?
We were told to place syringes without needles into the garbage at the hospital otherwise it fills up the sharps container unnecessarily!

Why did you take up nursing? What's your story?
I was a single mum heading down the wrong path and didn't know where to go. Mum and dad were supporting me and I was pretty much depressed when they suggested that I should give nursing a go. I guess, at first it was to make mum and dad happy, didn't really think I'd get into uni, but I did, and now I've completed my degree and am working towards a PG diploma in family and community health. I'm glad mum and dad suggested it as I couldn't picture myself doing anything different now!

What are the item(s) you need most for nursing school?
If you are starting out, I'd recommend you take a packet of jellybeans to keep in your pocket. Saves alot of embarrassment if you feel faint whilst looking at those nasty blood soaking procedures....!!! I learnt the hard way but am fine now with those trusty beanies..
