Agree, there is not a chance that they will put a good word out there for you if they have false info about you they will continue to do so, they're not looking out for you, that is totally unfair regardless of the motive behind pushing you to leave. Totally feel for you and cannot comprehend the mechanics behind that type of management that dispose of its employees in a visceral and senseless way. I'll say have a meeting with this person and ask straight forward what to do to keep your job and if you sense they have no interest on keeping you then give your resignation right then and there. You have the right to fire your job if you feel does not fitted you.

i'm an lpn having a long list of challenges w/couple of cnas, they like to tell me what to do and argue i mean argue or give me the dumb look when told what to do. i talk to them first, if no improvement i ask another nurse to talk to them since they are more familiar with the other nurse then, if still no changes i let the supervisor know and end of story until now when this cna said "don't do that...infection" to a pt while been toileted i asked her about it, the cna ignore me twice, i let the supervisor in turn know, after work i saw them two talking so i approached them and with a smile on my face asked "what are we going to do about it" the supervisor told the cna before walking away to go home at the same time the cna said to me "what are we going to do about what" i tried not to make it a big deal and emphasize the importance of communicating everything related about the pts for which she had the nerve to say that she would not tell me anything about a pt if she considers it to be not important. now not only have something with the cna but also with the supervisor whom instead of addressing it just walked away.

It is very normal to loose contact w/your pals from nursing school, look at your self about to start orientation (congratulations!) and planning to be a volunteer among other goals. Your life is starting to get busy again so, yes is easy to loose communication and feel lonely after all those months together w/your classmates. Therefore, when it comes about starting new friendships in the workplace, taking it slow while maintaining a professional and friendly approach would be beneficial in the long run. Besides you have many friends here at all nurses and no strings attached.

started my rounds around 12 am, i was working on my last pt at the end of the hallway and needed some assistance to lift the pt up in bed. i was about to leave the pt's bedside when a nurse in her white uniform walked in front of the room and right away i asked for her help but she continued walking w/o even stopping or looking my way. my jaw dropped in disbelief, and i decided to wait for her because she'll have to come back this same way...but she didn't. i left the pt's bedside, stepped out of the room and looked in the direction she just went to and asked myself what the heck happened with her? she could only have gone to the storage room and an empty room going under construction where only the bathroom was usable. i stared at the two closed doors at the end of the hallway for a second and opened them one by one........both were empty.

i used to work as receptionist at h&r block and as a cashier at wal-mart while working in the skill nursing floor. i believed i did it because of boredom, so once i realized it i looked for a job in a hospital where i could float everywhere and so far i've been doing it for more than 5 yrs and feeling good about it. would i go back to work in a non-nursing field? i think not.

freshman year of...nursing? i'm asking because couple of freshman nursing students took micro w/me and according to them it was not bad at all, but regardles of anything i believe you did right, just remember that some colleges do not accept the sciences over 5 years old. good luck!

a pediatric nurse really dialed 911, our code inside the hospital starts w/a diff #. after administration found out, it was not funny at all, but we use what happened to that nurse once in awhile as an inside joke!i hope that you guys liked it!

a nurse enters a patient room w/o knocking. the room is softly illuminated by the bathroom's light. the nurse approaches the bed carefully trying not to disturb the sleeping patient. once by the bedside calls her name......"mrs.___, time for you sleeping pill" "911 what is your emergency?" -"can you send an ambulance to ___ hospital, pediatric's unit, ___floor, we have a code blue"

i agree with what have been said so far, and let me tell you that i'm a softie too because i'm always on the patient's side, and for that same reason, there have been some nurses telling me that i'll be easily used/manipulated by patients. i don't believe that, my sin is to make sure that the lab process and give the results in quickly, so the anestesiologist can be called, so the mother to be can have an epidural to stop the painful contractions instead of making her wait 30-45 minutes. that lenght of time, in her condition it feels like an eternity. my sin is to ask why is patient so and so calling so often "well she just wants her cane, er was already notified" so i go to er myself (from the 11th floor) for the patient's cane, for which she has been asking for the past 6 or 5 hours, since her admittion from er. it took me only seven minutes to take care of that. after i gave the cane to the patient the calls stop,.. she went to sleep. i sympathize with people but specially the people that are in a vulnerable position which are the patients. i take my time reading every patient's kardex for care, precautions, and diet. i do it to better take care of them. so yeah, i'm a softie because i have a heart. go for nursing and hang in tight because is not a smooth ride. good luck to all of us going for nursing!

having a job that allows you to do school work is a blessing, just don't let the excitment of your job get to you. at times i think i'll quit mine because i cannot study and neither do school work but i just have to remind myself of how flexible they have been with my class schedule and i forget everything. so i'm wishing you good luck and take advantage of what your job offers(which is time to study) and knock those classes off so you can be in the path to nursing school! good luck again!

with all due respect to all nursing pioneers whom had passion and sacrificed so much for an ideal which was to become a nurse, going part time to school does not make me any less passionate about nursing. i'm so glad that i can still be a nurse even though i'm not a recent graduate from high school! and for those that went for nursing, and graduated just to find out is not their call, heck! i see nothing wrong with it, not even a waste of their time. (don't twist what you're about to read, keep focus)how many times in your life you have gone for something to find out later on -regardless of the reasons why- is not for you?, e.g., marriage, kids, a job, a car, a pair of shoes, milk, juice, etc. but if you didn't tried you will never had known. education is never a waste of time, but doing nothing, absolutely nothing not even thinking is for me a waste of time, unless you're meditating.

i completely agree with what have been said on the previous postings. as a pre-nursing student working in a hospital have had the opportunity to witness how nurses are treated by their nurse manager(and other nurses because of seniority), also they have to do what doctors want propmtly so not to upset them uhhh, soo scary! i don't want that for me! when there is camarederie, work is a breeze otherwise is stressful, is already enough with what a nurse goes trough on a daily basis at work, how can this be solved?

microbiology students: don't give up! life is a miracle you know; our minds can't comprehend what god has planned for each of us or when our time will end. we travel to and from each day while trying to survive. we tell our children god is great and jesus was alive. we ask ourselves the question when we have time to rest, what is humanity about and what is our major quest. we have our family history that goes back through the years. we know the names of all of them and how they conquered fears. we only have a short time to spend upon this earth. we want to make the best of it and live for all its worth. i guess we're not to understand until our time has come, the mysteries of human life and why it ends for some. we pray to god for all we need and honor our husband or wife. we thank him for the perfect gift, the miracle of life.

thank you for responding to my posting, i just wanted to vent my frustation and i got more in return., thank you again. now let me tell you that my class is coming along, i enjoy microbiology, and believe that taking biology prior to, helped me prepare for this class. oh, and my classmates are doing much better, a third one tried to play the trick on me though, and guess what i said,i told her no....and then stayed with her after class so she could write notes for an upcoming test!

my class so far is ok what's not ok though is a couple of students that don't have their books. on the first day of class, one sitting by me asked to borrow my cd from my book to do homework that was given to us that same day, i went ahead and let her take it home, she returned my cd next day and everything was fine until another chick later on sat at the table with us and she started this similar conversation "the book cost too much and that is just ridiculous and i'll not spend money on something i'll just be using once" blah.. blah.. blah..almost the same lines the first girl gave me. i try to understand but i don't get it, i cannot comprehend why someone could be that much of..... and not buy its own book, c'mon i don't have it easy either but i'm sure that if i can do it so can they!, for starters i'm paying myself through school and have never ever gone to a class w/o being ready and sit and hope that someone would let me use their books, this is just too much of..... now i'm expecting next day of class thinking of how am i going to handle this situation! some people really have no clue of the meaning of the word parasites even after being explained in microbiology class!
