  1. hi, i dont know if i am doing the right thing. if you are desperate to work here in US, the hospitAL where i work is directly hiring nurses from the philippines provided they have visa screen and work experience. the thing is, they only offer $19/hr. 20 nurses arrived last feb and 10 are coming. it is only an H1C visa because we all know that there is retrogression. if you are interested, just PM (private message) me...:nuke:
  2. hello there babyblue18, am also a filipina working here as an RN in Laredo Medical Center. I've been here for only 2 months. i travelled w/ my whole family and arrived oct 2. my first impression w/ laredo itself is a very remote place. it seems that you're not in america. but if you're only starting to have a life in america, i tell you, its the best place to be hre. there are a lot of filipinos here and are very very friendly. they would reach out to help you in any way they could. LMC will also house you for free. sponsored nurses all have stayed in their staff house. cost of living is simple. you dont have to worry about buying branded clothings coz nobody would mind you. apartments are cheap ranging from 500-700. everything is accesible, grocery, church, school, mall, etc. 30 mins ride around laredo is considered far already. my apartment is just 3-5 min ride away from LMC. we dont have a car yet but grocery is just a stones throw away from home. my kids would just also walk to skul. sometimes i would only walk in going to work. but of course, when we are all settled and stable, buying a car here is easy. with LMC itself, they are really understaff. the patient ratio is quite high. but as i said, it's a good start here. there are a lot of nurses mostly from BOHOL who just arrive as working visa. a lot are still coming. anywhere you go in LMC or any unit you will be assigned, there is always a Filipino you can help and assist you, promise. Just go ahead with your plans in coming here. Looking forward to seeing you very soon! and :welcome:......

Unfortunately, we were not issued a visa coz i lack 2 important documents: employment contract and visascreen. now that i have these 2 documents in my hands just now, what will be the scenario if i will submit it to the embassy? PLS.... anybody can shed light..... thanks!

  8. good day fellow nurse! i just want some clarification regarding renewal of RN license. I heard from a friend that if a foreign nurse expires her US license, she/he has to take the exam again???? except in Vermont....I hope it's definitely not true.... please give insights coz my license will expire this March 31, 2007. thanks....:nuke:
  9. hi! am also a Filipino nurse and i need the renewal form since my license will expire on March 31, 2007. just want to clarify issues; i've heard from a friend that expired state board exams need to be taken again?! except in vermont.... guys, if you have any idea.... pls.....
  10. hello cheson AND NAPOCA, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! am happy for you GUYS! i also pased nclex. i took my exam last may 3 in hongkong. God bless us all! RN, Philippines.
  11. hi apple4doc, nice to hear from you. just like you, am also planning to sign up with other agency but i have doubts because im afraid i mught go through the VERY LONG process again (waiting time). i've been waing for more than 3 yrs now. i just took my nclex in hongkong last may 3 and thank GOD, I PASSED. as of now, am just waiting for any advice from them. actually, i called up fred just now but i couldnt contact him. his cel no. is not in use anymore. the landline in cebu just hang up my calls. dont know whats going on. but still im crossing my fingers that everything will turn out right. just keep in contact with them and ask for your progress. open communication is the KEY.
  12. thanks once again. ok lang cheson for double posting. am from cagayan de oro city, philippines. i applied for the licensure in vermont but my employer is in louisiana. for the tips, just do constant review of at least 50 questions a day. i had saunders, lippincott, nsna, mosby, kaplan (all just CD reviewers). i started reviewing for almost two years. i never stopped reading after taking CGFNS. my problem now would be my IELTS because my agency didnt pay my visa screen. i passed IELTS march 2004 and it expired due to negligence of my agency. but nevertheless, i was able to pass it once, i can make it again with GOD'S help. hoping to be in the US soon. NURSE from the Phil.
  13. hi to all nurses all over the world, i just want to share my happiness. i took my nclex last may 3, 2006 in hongkong. and just this morning i got my result, I PASS :rotfl: . for all those who prayed for me, THANK YOU! though it was tiresome :zzzzz , i finished at almost 6hrs, it was indeed worth it. THANK YOU LORD! NURSE FROM THE philippines
  14. to all nurses, im so so so happy to have heard from you. i thought no one would ever open this and take time to read. it has given me a little relief . as of now, i will just concentrate on my upcoming NCLEX exam in hongkong. then deal it this problem later. honestly, i really have no choice but to go with the flow of the agency because i dont have the funds to pay for all the necessary expences for tha exams and other payments. i was just lucky to have a friend who offered to pay for my dependents immigrant visa fee ($1,000+). and its very ironic because i just knew that they havent payed for MY OWN IMMIGRANT VISA FEE. if i have known then i would have asked my friend to pay for my visa screen instead of paying for my dependents. nevertheless, THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH for taking time to read and give inspiring words. i have no choice but to move on..... still looking forward to hear more from all of you. nurse in the PHILIPPINES
