  1. Not only will I report but I have reported it.
  2. I'm having to wait also; they haven't received my CLEP transcripts.
  3. Oh boy. Hoping that won't be the case for me. Fingers crossed
  4. I am aiming for Sept 1 also. The only hold up is a couple of transcripts and I hope they are received soon. Ready to start especially since it's almost impossible to do anything except bedside nursing without a BSN these days. At least that's how it is where I work.
  5. This sound identical to what happened to me the other day. I call the rapid response, unit nurses came and attempted to make us look like idiots. I don't feel bad though. I still maintain that I/we did the right thing. Some others obviously need to know that Dnr doesn't mean do not treat.
  6. Life has taught me 1. To develop a thick skin and 2. That people with that type of personality (not just nurses) either have personal insecurities or have problems managing their personal lives; neither of which were of my concern. Once I learned policies of the facility and enlisted the help of other seasoned nurses on the floor I felt better about myself and was able to let her issues roll right offy back. She soon realized that I wasn't easily intimidated.
  7. I had a Cn like that; always gave me admissions back to back; treated me like an idiot when I asked questions and wouldn't help out in a bind. This was over 4 years ago; well now she has finally run her course and is no longer the "top dog" as she thought she was. Time often brings about a change; however if this is causing you stress and distress, apply for transfer as soon as you are able. Best of wishes to you.
  8. Brandon, I totally get where you're coming from. I worked LTC for three yrs and have worked acute care for 4 yrs and they are 2 totally different horses when it comes to pt care. I can so relate to people NEEDING showers/meds and refusing. In LTC you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.
  9. Some people are just nosey and rude. Things that shouldn't be open for discussion; especially since you didn't confide in her. I just would have asked her why she wants to know and why she thinks she's privy to such information.
  10. Georgia has it's long list of stipulations but EC is accepted. I'm licensed in GA.
  11. We get this a lot where I work. I work tele/acute and we get a lot of unit patients before they are ready. Our ratio is also 1:6 and I usually keep my fingers crossed praying nothing serious happens to the unit patient. While I effectively try to manage my whole team. Dangerous situation.
  12. I've worked LTAC and acute care.
  13. I Co sign on what Beach says. I only used Sherri's online and also passed the CPNE @ Southern Regional with one PCS repeat all because I got distracted during care. Olga, sorry you didn't have a good experience bit not everyone shares your opinion.
  14. This video is very upsetting and ****** me off. Maryland didn't supply reason for revocation to WV because they COULDN'T. I wonder if she could pursue legal action; interfering with someone's livelihood is never ok.
  15. Thanks Lyndaa. It's been rough but could have been worse.
  16. I graduated October 2011; took boards December 2011 passed first try with the minimum questions; applied for licensure immediately and got the run around from JAN-MAR of 2012 with whether or not they received my application. Then received a generic email that I would have to complete a 320 hr preceptorship. Also in Jan 2012 I'd just found out that after 14 yrs I was expecting my second child; April 2012 my dad was admitted to hospice care after battling Pancreatic Cancer for over 2 yrs; May 2012 went into preterm labor and had to take FMLA time and would be off until after baby was born. With all of this happening and my place of employment changing names/management I didn't even attempt to obtain preceptorship as I was in no shape to do so. Decided to let my application lapse and reapply after the year was up. Well, I delivered my baby at 34wks via c-section and he was born happy and whole; husband was diagnosed with lymphoma just a few days later. Dad passed in September on the exact date baby turned 2 months old. Got my self together or so I thought and reapplied in November/December; board attempted to give me the run around again but this time I had EVERYTHING I needed and sought legal counsel. Happy to say that as of today I am officially and RN. It's been rough but as the saying goes "anything worth having is worth fighting for". Despite all I've been through if I had to do it all over again I still would choose Excelsior for my education. I have no regrets at all. To the Georgia residents that are considering enrolling I say go for it; just be prepared to fight if necessary.
  17. I'd be a make up artist; no doubt about it
  18. Not to make light of this comment but reminds me of something that happened to me a month ago at work. "Demented" and confused elderly woman refers to me as a n****r and threatens to kick the s**t out of me. Once I told her that of she did I would press charges and that I'm also pregnant she SUDDENLY became oriented. Imagine that ...
  19. Exactly!!! This is also the reason that careplans exist. To hopefully move toward a healthful goal.
  20. LOL!!!! If I didn't know any better I would think I am the nurse you speak of. I understand that we should try to allow patients some autonomy but I'm not going to risk a severe hyperglycemic whose main reason for being in the hospital to continue to eat what he/she wants. Limits are set for a reason.
