  1. Hey! I apologize for posting, I know this post is old. Thank you for your insight into Duke's ABSN program. You answered so many of my questions! I have some additional questions but I am not able to send a direct message. My e-mail is [email protected] if you have the time to write to me. Thank you in advance!
  2. Agree with Mergirlc! Many colleges are even waiving SAT and ACT scores for high school students. This is an unusual event and I think many schools will work with students. Don't stress and good luck!
  3. I am currently a teacher and have a Bachelor's and Master's in another area. I am going the ASN route with an accelerated evening and weekend program. The program is 4 semesters (after pre-reqs) that consists of two evening classes and weekend clinicals. It is a long commute for me, but it is worth it given the tuition cost (community college) and non-traditional option. After getting one bachelor's degree I do not want any school debt! After I graduate, I will continue to a RN to BSN program while working as a nurse. I had a lot of friends who encouraged me to go the BSN or accelerated BSN route. There are a lot of pros for the BSN route: 1) More hiring options, 2) "Just getting it over with" and 3) Focusing on school full-time but they are also 1) Longer and 2) More expensive and 3) More school debt from not working. They also suggested the accelerated Masters but there were only two in my state and they were a long ways from me and really expensive. The link below allows you to search for the school programs in your state. https://www.aacnnursing.org/About-AACN/Who-We-Are/Member-Schools
  4. I think you are right. I speak for myself that I would rather remove myself from a situation I do not agree with, then fight it. I don't think attacking anyone's opinion is going to make anything better. If someone thinks they have a better solution I would hope they speak up but attacking does not solve anything. I agree, I think that healthcare workers do have a lot of power right now.
  5. I see what you are saying. Who do you think would be in the best position to fix the problem or advocate for nurses?
  6. I mean so they would send them home to prevent it spreading to patients. If someone has it, even if they were not showing symptoms, they could be spreading it to patients and co-workers.
  7. If she tested positive would it help the disease from being spread further?
  8. So far we have clinicals continuing in April but that may change.
  9. Unfortunately, there is not a “best case scenario”. Yes, nurses entering the work force without the extra clinical/teaching hours is a set-back, as is having to jump into a healthcare crisis right away. However, they are predicting this to get worse and/or last for awhile.
