CRNA Student Loans
I have a friend that was in a similar situation. He had no savings and got in. His student loans through fasfa covered just enough to cover the program. he took out Extra money for living expenses through a credit Union as student loans. It’s extra loans but it’ll get you through and can be paid back

Mount Marty CRNA
I chose to go to a program closer to home however I can honestly say this program may be one of the best out there, especially when it comes to support for students. The professor all seemed extremely welcoming, they made me feel at home. They had people bring their support system, wife, parents, etc to the interview. It was one of the only places where I spoke to the students and the students did not have that “exhausted” and “stressed” appearance on their face. Highly highly recommend mount marty

University of Arizona CRNA 2020
I did get some negative feedback about my GPA. I had a 3.4 for both and I still got accepted into the program. I did accept at another, however, they said the things I’ve done stood out enough to overlook my GPA!

CRNA school chances
You may need to do more and make yourself more competitive but I’d say you’re on the right track. You can look at my post history to see what I’ve done but my stats were lower than yours, I didn’t retake any classes despite having some mess ups. I still got accepted into every school I interviewed at except one!

Realistic Goal?
I was in the same boat as you. I knew I wanted this since high school but didn’t take things seriously enough at first. Graduated nursing with a 3.42. I’ll add a link to another post where you’ll see what I did and got in to my dream school! Also took a grad level stats class and got a 4.0 which helped!

CRNA program RE-applicants 2021 start
I think it contributed but from knowing people that got in after applying with less than 1 year (my mother included) makes me believe And hope it was more than just that lol

CRNA program RE-applicants 2021 start
Worked for 2 years when I got in, applied At 1 year and 6months or so. i agree, good advice. Know your patients inside and out but I’ve only had one interview ask me about that which wasn’t bad. I didn’t spend much money on conferences and classes. Hospital covered the grad class and most conferences were free/super cheap besides the driving and the AANA conference.

CRNA program RE-applicants 2021 start
I was an applicant that didn’t get in last year and just got accepted this year! Got 0 interviews last year and got an interview at every school but one this time. Here’s what I did: I took a bunch of classes my hospital offered and added each one to my resume such as ventilator classes, critical care courses and so forth. Took at least 2 a month. Went to different conferences and attended the AANA conference last year. (That one really stuck out to almost every place according to the panels I interviewed with). Became a volunteer EMT in a rural community, joined a committee, and obtained My ATCN cert by driving to another state (10 hour drive), FCCS cert. CCRN, took one grad level course and became a preceptor. Doing something Different every month seemed to have worked despite my lower GPA! I highly recommend reading watchful care and becoming super familiar with political points in the CRNA world, what they do, barriers to practice and your thoughts on it. Read everything you can about them, forums, AANA website, read it all and know it inside and out.

Michigan State 2020
Just a couple of things on my mind. How were the professors, easy to understand, get along with and supportive? How did you feel the program prepared you for the profession? Did you feel like the program had any challenges that made it more difficult? I always like to learn about other student’s experiences with these programs. MSU‘S DNP has been the only one that’s been a mystery.

How many CRNA schools have you applied for at a time?
Applied to 9 schools all over. My stats aren’t great but not bad. Kind of shows that you can’t let people tell you if you’re good enough or not, You have to know that you are good enough. I Got interviews at 4 so far and accepted to 4. I was denied 2 interviews and waiting on the rest but I’ve decided already! You’ll get it if you want it bad enough!

Michigan State 2020
Does anyone know any student that has gone through MSU’s DNP program? It’s the only program that I cannot seem to find any info on other than the curriculum.

Good luck to everyone here! It was a tough choice but I will be withdrawing my spot. Those who go here, the faculty seem incredibly wonderful and the students appear well prepared. This will be a fantastic program!

Hey hiramd, I’ll send you another email regarding this topic!

CRNA school prep
Every student I’ve spoken with has told me to relax and not to worry about doing any academic preparation for school. You will learn all that you need to know during the program. If you are worried about it, it wouldn’t hurt to review CCRN material and go to ICUFAQs.org And go over all the basic ICU nurse material to refresh yourself.

Does which CRNA school you attend truly matter?
Asherah nails it right on the head. If it comes down to choosing a school, I’d choose the program That I know will give me the best experience, that will prepare me best for the field. Speak to students to see what kind of culture the program has, what type of experience you’ll get. Will your requirements be met by simulation? Or clinical experience? What is the average number of cases do student finish with? Rankings aren’t really all that and not sure how “accurate” it is. I think those ranking are more political than anything. Also $160k vs $110k you’re saving $50k!

how to stand out
It is all about practice. Do it in front of a mirror, have someone interview you and go over your answers. My first interview was unprepared, underwhelming and I probably made a bad impression. I wrote down and memorized at least 30 clinical scenarios I can use and play off of in case I’m asked specific questions so I can provide examples. After practicing and writing down examples, you should be able to confidently answer the questions appropriately. Look up different versions of each question, and be yourself. Don’t make stuff up, talk about things you’ve actually done. Being honest will make your answers more genuine and you’ll be more relaxed. I am sure there is more and there are others here who provided wonderful examples. That watchful care books is a great recommendation and is a wonderful book to learn more about the profession and tool for your interviews!

Was anyone here accepted for 2020?

If you want to really know, I can personally email you. I do not want to put a bad image on any program since it is still a great program that prepares you well for the CRNA profession. Every Nurse Anesthesia program in the USA is a great program and prepares you well (they would not be an accredited program otherwise), they all have their advantages and disadvantages. Some can be tougher than others but there are students that learn well or thrive in that type of environment.

I never feel perfectly prepared I would say. However, I always go In being myself and if they like me for me, then it’ll work out! I’m sure you’ll do great! You got this ?

Thank you so much for your time as well as explaining your experience and the student culture there!

Hmm not sure what happenEd either. That’s okay, my main questions is really based on your experience with the program. How is the Support, student culture, education and if you have other students in different programs that you can compare your experience to. I have a few friends in other programs that are super cut throat and minimal support. Although, based on reading some comments, this program does not give off that feeling.

Is anyone spending the night there? I am I have my interview early. It sounds like student are very happy with the program usually. I hope this will be the one, I like what people have said about their program And seems extremely supportive. With 3 other interviews and waiting on 8 other schools, I’m sure one will say yes Haha - Mount Marty CRNA
