  1. I have a friend that was in a similar situation. He had no savings and got in. His student loans through fasfa covered just enough to cover the program. he took out Extra money for living expenses through a credit Union as student loans. It’s extra loans but it’ll get you through and can be paid back
  2. I chose to go to a program closer to home however I can honestly say this program may be one of the best out there, especially when it comes to support for students. The professor all seemed extremely welcoming, they made me feel at home. They had people bring their support system, wife, parents, etc to the interview. It was one of the only places where I spoke to the students and the students did not have that “exhausted” and “stressed” appearance on their face. Highly highly recommend mount marty
  3. I did get some negative feedback about my GPA. I had a 3.4 for both and I still got accepted into the program. I did accept at another, however, they said the things I’ve done stood out enough to overlook my GPA!
  4. You may need to do more and make yourself more competitive but I’d say you’re on the right track. You can look at my post history to see what I’ve done but my stats were lower than yours, I didn’t retake any classes despite having some mess ups. I still got accepted into every school I interviewed at except one!
  5. Was it to your personal email? I have not received anything yet. edit: Just saw it in the MSU email!
  6. I Believe I remember being told they will send out more info sometime in January.
  7. I was in the same boat as you. I knew I wanted this since high school but didn’t take things seriously enough at first. Graduated nursing with a 3.42. I’ll add a link to another post where you’ll see what I did and got in to my dream school! Also took a grad level stats class and got a 4.0 which helped!
  8. I think it contributed but from knowing people that got in after applying with less than 1 year (my mother included) makes me believe And hope it was more than just that lol
  9. Worked for 2 years when I got in, applied At 1 year and 6months or so. i agree, good advice. Know your patients inside and out but I’ve only had one interview ask me about that which wasn’t bad. I didn’t spend much money on conferences and classes. Hospital covered the grad class and most conferences were free/super cheap besides the driving and the AANA conference.
  10. I was an applicant that didn’t get in last year and just got accepted this year! Got 0 interviews last year and got an interview at every school but one this time. Here’s what I did: I took a bunch of classes my hospital offered and added each one to my resume such as ventilator classes, critical care courses and so forth. Took at least 2 a month. Went to different conferences and attended the AANA conference last year. (That one really stuck out to almost every place according to the panels I interviewed with). Became a volunteer EMT in a rural community, joined a committee, and obtained My ATCN cert by driving to another state (10 hour drive), FCCS cert. CCRN, took one grad level course and became a preceptor. Doing something Different every month seemed to have worked despite my lower GPA! I highly recommend reading watchful care and becoming super familiar with political points in the CRNA world, what they do, barriers to practice and your thoughts on it. Read everything you can about them, forums, AANA website, read it all and know it inside and out.
  11. Just a couple of things on my mind. How were the professors, easy to understand, get along with and supportive? How did you feel the program prepared you for the profession? Did you feel like the program had any challenges that made it more difficult? I always like to learn about other student’s experiences with these programs. MSU‘S DNP has been the only one that’s been a mystery.
  12. Applied to 9 schools all over. My stats aren’t great but not bad. Kind of shows that you can’t let people tell you if you’re good enough or not, You have to know that you are good enough. I Got interviews at 4 so far and accepted to 4. I was denied 2 interviews and waiting on the rest but I’ve decided already! You’ll get it if you want it bad enough!
  13. Does anyone know any student that has gone through MSU’s DNP program? It’s the only program that I cannot seem to find any info on other than the curriculum.
  14. Good luck to everyone here! It was a tough choice but I will be withdrawing my spot. Those who go here, the faculty seem incredibly wonderful and the students appear well prepared. This will be a fantastic program!
  15. Hey hiramd, I’ll send you another email regarding this topic!
