Golden West Nursing Spring 2024 (ADN)
Hi again HopefulNursing. Do you mind telling me more about your med tech position? I am working as a CNA on a telemetry floor right now, but I want to to switch to an easier job. Also, I have experience in working as a laboratory tech (IDK if that relates tho).

Golden West Nursing Spring 2024 (ADN)
Hi Hopeful Nursing! Nice to virtually meet you. Sounds like you have a very good set up for experience before the program. All of the experience will help you in clinicals. I am also starting in the Spring 2024 cohort. I am 28 years old and it's been a long journey to get to this part. I'm very excited to be at Golden West College! I've heard so many good reviews from my coworkers who are alumni.

But I remember submitting an application... IDK if there are two different applications but I know I forsure did the initial one with the first representative on the phone

IDK if my enrollment advisor miscommunicated to me or I misunderstood, but all this time I thought she was submitting the application for me. She told me all of stuff was on file ready to go... IDK what happened but she didn't submit the application because I was supposed to ? it's okay. I am more interested in nightingale college anyway. And I also just got accepted into an ADN community college program too. based on how there aren't much positive reviews from national university, I highly suggest to look into nightingale college. It costs about $60k if you have all the prerequisites and general education done ?

Yeah I'm in the same exact boat as you! I am in the nightingale facebook group and was able to ask if anyone was able to transfer in nursing classes from a previous nursing program such as ADN. Two people replied telling me they had the opportunity to challenge the courses. my advisor told me my classes have been deemed "non transferable" but I wonder if I can still challenge it somehow. Because as we all know, subtracting some nursing courses REALLY helps with decreasing cost and time in the program. Since they only allow you to take one nursing core class per semester I'm going to look into scholarships too but I know I will mostly be relying on federal and private loans.

Yeah it seems 48 is the absolute max on my transfer evaluation so you got the maximum in in, that's great! It will help lighten your load. right now it says I'm transferring in 33 but but I'm hoping with the other 2 classes I'm petitioning it will be 39. Then I'm taking 1 or 2 prerequisites over the Summer at a community college. So hopefully I transfer in 39-42 credits by the end of Summer.

The classes were GE and prerequisites. I think my advisor said it knocked off about $24grand so far but I didn't get the new estimate. I'm also still waiting to see if I can petition the other 2 prerequisites I have a bachelors degree already so I don't qualify for any more Pell grants. I do qualify for federal loans but I know I will have to take out a lot of private loans and IDK if I can do that ?

Yeah it is common to not accept but my advisor told me that they have done it the past and a nightingale student told me they allowed her credits to transfer but she still had to take the HESI for the class. I don't think she passed the HESI tho. 30 is with basically all the pre requisites. I'm waiting to see if 2 of my other prerequisites can transfer in too. how did you get 48 credits to transfer in? Seems like that's more than the prerequisites?

Nightingale College 2023
Hello everyone. I am applying for this Fall 2023 as well. So far they have told me they will accept 30 credits. I'm a bit disappointed though, because I have nursing classes from an ADN program I was in, and they recently told me that *none* of my nursing classes are being accepted for transfer. And since none of my nursing classes are being accepted, I am doubtful on whether I can afford the program.

I am also interested to know about this! I'm wondering how competitive it is to get into and how helpful the faculty are.

Challenging The Boards To Become A Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
Hello everyone, I am trying to challenge the LVN exam in this way as I have failed out of my ADN program and I am waiting to jump back in. I have added up all of the hours in the classes I have taken and I don't think I have all of the hours. The BVNPT website says we need 954 clinical hours, but I think my entire ADN program has those 954 hours. I have about 630 clinical hours. Has anyone been in a similar situation and overcome this obstacle by getting a CNA license, and/or working as one for a few months? I tried to call the BVNPT and the person I talked to was not helpful and told me he could not give me any answers. He said all of the answers to my questions are on the website but this is not the case for me. If anyone has challenge the exam with Method 3, I would appreciate any guidance. Thank you.

Suggestions for financial aid?
Hi everyone, I was wondering if I could get some suggestions on scholarships/grants/ loan programs/ *any resources* for living expenses while I am in nursing school. I am in an ADN program in southern CA, while working full time during my first semester. In the future semesters, I will be going part time at work, working 10-20 hours a week (my job is flexible with school). My issue is that although I am considered in financial need by FAFSA, I already have bachelor's degree, so it disqualifies me from federal grants. I am not sure if I can get any federal loans but I know probably not much if I do qualify. I don't have family or a significant to rely on for free housing. I really need to find a way to pay for my rent while I'm in school. I can take out private loans but I know the interest rates are terrible. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or even suggestions about private loans? P.S. I pretty much get tuition for free at the community college I go to, so I'm not worried about that. Just worried about paying rent when I'm focusing on school and can't work as much. thanks in advance!

Cypress College ADN Spring 2021
This is weird because when I printed my signature page last week the unofficial copy of the TEAS document was not an item on the checklist like how it is now. I’m confused

Cypress College ADN Spring 2021
I have the same issue. I wouldn’t worry too much, they must be overwhelmed with the amount of transcripts and applications coming in. did you guys send the email with your signature page and supporting documents through your personal email account?
