  1. Please excuse the typos. For some reason, this site will not allow me to edit my post.
  2. I agree with the writer of this article. I too attended an all white nursing school in a predominantly white neighborhood 11 years ago. I was the only black student in my nursing class. The other students stated that I was accepted because the school needed to accept at least one black student. At the time, I wanted to believe that it was because I had a 4.0 average all throughout college and scored a 98% on my NET exam. It didn’t take long for me to start thinking that maybe the other students were right. I was ALWAYS the last student to secure a group in group projects (I was always assigned to a group that the instructor had to assign me to). The other students DID NOT want me in their groups. I was never invited to their study groups. The instructor paired us together for our head-to-toe assessments. My partner told me that I needed to come to her house because she wasn’t allowed to come to mines (it want my neighborhood, I stayed closer to the school than she did)! She also stated that her parents weren’t fond of black people, but they wouldn’t be home while we practiced. The patients at clinical would boldly stated that they did not want a black girl helping them! A white male classmate and I had the same exact percentage at the end of the semester. We were both worried about the final. We received the EXACT same percentage on the final. He passed and I did not! You may not agree if you haven’t experienced (lived) it; you’re entitled to your opinion. We live with this type of treatment daily. Racism in nursing is real!
  3. Yes, I have matriculated. I thought that I replied to your post earlier; however, I do not see my response. My overall GPA was 3.84 and I did not retake any classes.
  4. Nique LPN-RN what rotation are you in?
  5. Congratulations!!!!! I am so happy for you! Do you have the link to the 35 page pdf that you found on this site? One more question. Did Schoolcraft provide ATI books? Those books helped me prepare tremendously for the PN-NCLEX.
  6. I have a "W" on my transcripts and was still accepted.
  7. Geslina I agree with you. I have been a nurse for four years. All the joy has been sucked out of nursing. Long behind us are those days. I still cry often. To make matters even worse, my employer just enforced a new rule that prohibits the nurses from sitting at the nurses station. We have to stand during our entire shift, even while we are doing all that ridiculous charting! Now I find myself crying more than before from the stress of the job AND the pain in my ankles from standing my entire shift.
  8. I start the LPN to RN program this year. I didn't have to wait at all. I applied and seven days later I received my acceptance letter.
  9. Take time for yourself. We as nurses always work hard. We have to remember to take time to do some of the things we love (spending time with family, vacationing, whatever our hearts desire). Taking time for ourselves can help us from becoming mentally drained.
  10. Will it be easy? Nope! Worth it? Absolutely! Author unknown. I say this to myself EVERYDAY after my prayer.
  11. Congratulations shan409, LPN. I am happy for you! I appreciate your advice. I have been following your comments since you posted about starting the program. That was really fast. I am ready to get started! Were you in a study group?
  12. Hello Fall 2017 class. How is everyone doing in the program? Any advice for those of us in the Fall 2018 class?
  13. I do not mind at all. My overall GPA is 3.8. I did not retake any classes. I had to take the TEAS VI for Schoolcraft. Math: 89, Science: 75, Reading: 90, English/Language: 87
  14. Congratulations!! I applied for the program on January 25, 2018. I received my acceptance letter seven days later for fall 2018 start!! I am so excited!
