  1. Our company is changing over to color coded uniforms for each specialty and I don't have a single set in Royal Blue, with Christmas bills i'm just not ready to spend a bunch yet getting my work week wardrobe lined out. I found Natural Uniforms sets for 11$, was gonna buy 4 sets to hold me over until I can build up a nicer rotation. The Amazon reviews I read were overall positive, the negative reviews were almost all referring to the sizing (which is something that was stated on the product pages that they run a size large). Does anyone wear them, are they comparable to what I'd get at Wal-Mart? I'm mostly just wanting to make sure they're durable, the 11$ price is suspect. The place I found them for 11$ is https://bestvaluemedical.com/product/natural-uniforms-unisex-2-piece-scrub-set/ , anyone ever order from them?
  2. I would always wear gloves when coming in physical contact with any patient. You should also change gloves when moving from patient to patient. Lack of supplies is a problem in healthcare, whoever is in charge really needs to be aware of the potential damage and the long term costs that could be avoided by providing something as simple as properly made, well fitting gloves.
  3. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Chances are that the new manager is as nervous to meet his new staff as you are. This new transition may be for the best of your unit and could open up a new view on how you can improve your performance.
  4. I asked my HR dept head, he said that this type of thing is common - most unemployed professionals looking for work will apply for several positions. Now that you've accepted a position, informing them quickly is the main thing, as long as you're polite then you shouldn't have any problems whether you do it by email or by phone; but whether it will affect future opportunities with that organization depends on the management. It's their job, you're just doing it - got to look out for your own interests.
  5. Things to look for in a job -How much the pay is -Hourly or salary -Benefits ( Medical/Dental insurance ) -What shifts are available ( most people don't like 3rd/nights )

WOW! It hasn't snowed in south Texas since 1987. Mother nature what are you thinking?
  7. Only when I am wearing a lab coat.
  8. If possible it's always good to meet the request of an employer for notice in a situation like this. It sounds like you will not be easily replaced, I would speak with the employer and try and work out a compromise on the time - the time it takes to train a replacement might be closer to 2 weeks if a plan is in place. It's a lot harder to re-build burnt bridges than new ones, and you never know when you'll have to deal with someone that's involved in this situation in another company in the future. You also may find yourself explaining why you only gave 2 weeks notice when the employer wanted more to another employer that takes it particularly seriously. Just a lot of opportunity to cause future problems when a more compromising position could avoid it altogether.
  9. A lot of people ask for change.... we have a deal with the Bank, they don't give out flu shots and we don't make change for 20s!
  10. Vaping was catching traction during my senior year. Funny that the bathrooms that used to smell like tobacco smoke now smelled like fruity pebbles. I think that it should be presented as equally harmful as tobacco use from a teacher's education standpoint to deter non-smokers; but in our clinic we have noticed marked improvement in the breathing of some patients that switch from tobacco to vapor. The long term effects haven't been determined, and I believe there is a strong possibility of cardiovascular effects - but patients regain much of their taste and smell and show an improvement in lung function in the short term. This is in KY where we have a high rate of smokers.
  11. Our office will be off starting the 21st. Some employees will get the rest of the year off, but I probably won't be that lucky! Will be spending time with family and enjoying the down time. Merry Christmas guys
