  1. At my hospital Pawtucket Memorial the most is 1:6 with an aid or if the census is low and no one will take AET (approved excused time) you can get a 3 patient assignment alone (no aid).( we are in Rhode Island)
  2. I work on a med surg unit in a city hospital.,i am not there to rehab you, you are onley there for maybe a week? So if you want pain meds and there are orders then you get them. I,m not fighting with anyone, if the doc,s think you need it than you can have it ok, have fun. Nures of 35+ years
  3. Yes business casual is best, but how about a little color? it isnt a morgue ya know ;-)
  4. We can wear anything we like as long as it is neat and clean and along the lines of a uniform. Some of the younger nurses wear non scrub tops that are a little on the fitted side but hey they can so why not.
  5. Do you feel the cath turning back on itself right about the prostate area?? sometimes there is a narrowing and the cath cant pass so it doubles back on itseld, use a smaller cath if you have one. when you hold the member hold it straight up and keep trying to pass it past the prostate. is he incontinent ?? place a texas cath on him and collect a spec that way so as not to induce trauma and then he CANT pee at all) good luck ;-)
  6. Or maybe learning how to type and spell and use the correct grammer as in pleurals hummmmmmmm
  7. We just sent a gentlman to hospice yesterday, he didnt have a DNR inplace so his discharge was held up till the resident came and wrote one. (per Hospice)
  8. Welll I have to say I agree with you 100% and if you AX me I,ll tell you a few more that bug me ;-)
  9. When I take them to the BR for a BM or the commode Ialways have them spread there cheeks wide apart when they sit so the BM just drops into the toilet and doesnt smear (sorry for the grossness)
  10. We have a transporter that is very high functioning downs syndrome girl. She comes to the unit asking for Mrs. GGGG and I ask her (on purpose cause I love to hear her say it) "were are you takeing her" and she says "carliology" I say where?? and she always repeats it "carliology" (cardiology )so cute!!!
  11. Ok sooo since there are a ton of pages to catch up on hopefully I,m not repeating this. I hate it when a pt. or family member says they have had a "blood clog"!!!! instead of a blood clot grrrr!!!
  12. I,m not sure if you want to call it a bonus but we get our unused sick time as a bonus. We get 10 sick days a year I onley used about 4 so I will probably get about 800.00 not to bad I guess but it is MY money that I didnt use not a GIFT. The bummer is we get it the second monday of the second FULL week of December I know I know I usually end up useing my credit card to shop and then put the money on the card. LWD338 LPN
