  1. Well, I guess we all have our own opinions about the Nursing Profession. My main problem is my Nursing School has put a bad taste in my mouth. Its all about the numbers to them, they could care less how much we have put into this. Got to keep up those Nclex scores so our School can be the best, meanwhile, Students are leaving or failing out because they make the exams so hard that the median score ends up being 76%. And the fail rate is so high, 15 people out of 35 failed Med Surg can you believe that? Oh well enough rambling. Maybe after I get over all of this I will find a better School and try this again.

  3. I started the Nursing Program 1 year and 4 mos. ago. It took me that amount of time to find out that Nursing is not for me. Maybe it is how our program is run and I am not happy with how we as students are treated in our clinical rotations by the staff Nurses. Obviously they are not happy at their job to treat us with disrespect. Anyway, I explored my options and decided to go into Surgical Technologist program, and work at my home hospital where I know many of the Surgical staff and enjoy the OR setting. I don't think I wasted time by staying in the Nursing program for as long as I did, in fact the time it took for me to come to a decision helped me to become stronger. I must say " I am no longer stressed out and feel much better about myself " for this I am grateful. "THE FUTURE DEPENDS ON WHAT WE DO FOR OURSELVES TODAY"
  4. Hello, I am currently in my Psychiatric rotation in Nursing School and it is pretty interesting I must say! We have to do a presentation type of activity for the clients, which is to consist of some type of therapeutic game or activity and I have been trying to come up with something that they would enjoy, but need a little help. Does anyone have any ideas? Maybe some of you had to do this type of project and found something great to do, if so could you share your ideas with me, I would really appreciate a hand on getting my brain pumping with more ideas. Hope to here from you. Nurstobe
  5. Hello everyone, My next clinical rotation is Psych, my question is: what should I expect? I am pretty nervous about this one, don't know if I can deal with trying to handle Psych patients, suppose I do or say the wrong things. Help me take away the anxiety! It is an experience everytime I start a new clinical experience but this one really takes the cake! HELP!
  6. By the way Suzanne what program are they talking about?
  7. I also have the Springhouse RN review cards and yes they do seem too easy I think. I think there are a great deal of N-clex materials out there that will help, but quite honestly do you think that these companies know exactly what types of questions are on the test? The state pays boocoo bucks for quality written questions for these exams and they are not the same type of questions you will see on the exam. These are just words of wisdom I recieved from not only people who have taken the test, but many instructors views as well. These review books are great, don't get me wrong but lets not rely on the fact that these are the same types of questions we will be looking at on the actual Boards exam.
  8. First of all, I would like to congrats those of you that passed your Boards. Those who did not pass just keep on truckin, keep your head up and your spirits high and don't feel discouraged. Just about two weeks ago a couple of friends of mine had taken thier tests, one of them got to 75 when it cut off and the other went all the way to 260 questions before cut off. They both felt awful after the test and cried for a day or two. But guess what? they both passed. Lets not let the number of questions we get, get us down. We all work hard at this I am sure or we would not be here, or have made it through the program because we all know that was not easy.
  9. Thank you so much for your reply coopergrrl to my thread on Adolescent pregnancy teaching project. Many of your suggestions will help me to put together a great presentation for my project. Advice from others whom are familiar with the subject matter helps tremendously. Thanks again.
  10. Hi, I am currently a Nursing Student and I am doing my OB rotation at this time. This is by far the best clinical experience for me and am considering OB Nursing. I am working on a teaching project on Adolescent Pregnancy/ Special Needs, and was curious if anyone had any ideas or advice that could help boost me in the right direction for my project. This will be an in class presentation and I am a bit nervous when it comes to speaking in front of a group, I am sure this will pass. Any adivice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you :thankya:
  11. here is how I did those problems: remember to change 8 mg to mcg 8 mcg x 60 min. x 250 ml comes to: 480/8000 mcg =.06 x 250 ml = 15 ml 8000 mcg then divide by 60 drop x 60 min= 15 gtt/min
  12. Yeah, I really had a hard time with my first real foley and Button told me a better way to insert it and I am greatful. Practicing on mannicans is not the same.
  13. Thank you for your reply. I am starting the 2nd year at CCBC Essex, I am currently taking Community at this time. I am going into OB for the Spring semester. Have you taken OB yet? If so, any advise? How far along are you in your Nursing classes? Community class is somewhat boring I must say. Do you ever go onto live chat? I visit there sometimes and chat if they are disscusing something of interest. Hope to see you there sometime. Nurstobe
