  1. Quick Question, I graduate from one school in April and plan to start at Valencia in May. I have about a semester worth of pre-reqs to complete before applying to the Nursing program. Do you know roundabout the wait time for acceptance?
  2. Hi All, I am a pre-pre nursing student. Long story, short version. I'm obtaining a degree for RT at one school and finishing up pre-reqs for nursing school at another. Anywho, I want to know what the school/work/life ratio is for those of you that are working while in nursing school. When I originally decided to go back to school, my heart was set on going for nursing straight away... however, my adviser stated that no one in their nursing program works because of the rigorous workload. This made me pause because I need to work. So he suggested the RT program (something I was previously interested in). I will/need to work during my nursing school journey and I am curious as to how some of you that do it manage. I'd like input for everyone, especially those with smaller kiddos. (Two little ones here too) Any helpful tips and advice is greatly appreciated.
  3. I just want to say, I LOVE ALL OF THIS! And will be getting on my ish ASAP! Thanks kind friend.
  4. Cool beans. I thought about asking one of the directors from my RT program, but I thought their opinion might be a little bit biased. Plus, they aren't aware that I am also interested in pursuing my RN.

    This was my thinking.
  6. Hi! I am currently getting my AS to become a Rad Tech, while taking additional pre-reqs to get my AS & BS in nursing at another school. (I'm crazy, I know.) Anywho, I had never heard of Radiology Nursing until recently and considering that I'll have both degrees, I became intrigued. I've read some of the other threads about the difficulties that the nurses face against RT and I'd like to avoid overstepping or pissing off anyone. Would you be willing to explain some of the duties rad nurses complete in comparison to the duties of the RTs? How do/would they overlap or why the conflict? Thanks in advance!
  7. This explanation was flawless... I'm not even in nursing classes yet, but I understood this. Kudos!
  8. I meant the CRN certification, sorry for not being clear. I already planned on getting my ARRT, so I could work as an RT while in school to become a RN. Granted, I am not sure which specialty I want to pursue as an RN, but since I would be a RT as well, I figured it would make for a easier transition.
  9. This is the route I am currently going. I will complete my AS in RT in 2019, then pursue my ASN & BSN through a concurrent program at my community college. Since I will have both, will I still be required to get my certification??
  10. I will be 3 months away from my 30th birthday when I graduate from my RT program. I plan on completing my last 4 pre-reqs for the concurrent ASN/BSN program offered at my community college. Like you, I wasn't ready for college in my 20s. I wanted to be a wife and mom. I am glad that I am more mentally settled and ready to take on the responsibilities that come with being a nursing student. GOOD LUCK!
  11. I would check with you school first to see if it's even possible to take them both at the same time.. one might be a pre-req for the other. That is a pretty heavy course load that you'd have there if you could take them all together. I would try spacing them apart.. especially since A&P is such an intense course. Just a friendly suggestion of course. =)
  12. An AA and ASN are two different degrees. I think what you adviser is trying to state is that you only need 3 additional pre-req classes to be eligible for the nursing program. Your AA will have covered most of the requirements for the ASN program with the exception of those 3 classes. Once you complete all the required pre-reqs for the nursing program and take the TEAS, then you will be ready to apply for the nursing program. Hope that helps. To be honest, if you expressed that you were interested in the nursing program from the beginning, then the adviser should have set up your schedule with the required pre-reqs from the start. That way, you avoid taking all those extra classes. Edit to add: Most nursing programs require that all pre-reqs are completed before applying to the program. It's how the determine who gets in and what not.
  13. Hi! First off, congrats on your upcoming graduation!! I would definitely continue to fight for the change in your grade. You worked your butt off for that A and if you feel that you truly deserve it, then fight for it. I am a perfectionist myself, so I know what it feels like to pour everything into getting the best possible grade and feeling slighted when you don't get what you deserve. If you have everything that you need to prove that the A is rightfully yours, then make it happen! GOOD LUCK!
