  1. FY2020 Army Nurse Corps

That is correct. It took forever. To be honest drill is not what I expected. Unless you have a task or assigned duty, there’s not much for you to do. And flip side of that is until you go to BOLC you can’t be assigned or volunteer for additional duti...
  2. FY2020 Army Nurse Corps

I have been drilling with my unit since 12/18 and am just now getting to go to DCC in September. If no prior service you will attend the 28 day course, with prior service the 21 day course. According to my unit’s training NCO, we are no longer able ...
  3. Army Nurse

To be honest I don’t know. I’d recommend finding a good AMEDD recruiter & asking them or someone who has actually tried this. Where are you out of? If it’s OK or Texas I have a couple I could recommend.
  4. AMEDD Direct Commission Course and BOLC - Army Stuff

I commissioned May 2018 & received orders in November. They’re coming. It just takes awhile. Lol
  5. Army Nurse

Sign on bonuses are only available for certain specialties: ICU, OR, etc. Like everyone has mentioned, talk to a healthcare recruiter for your area. Good luck!
  6. Army FY 2019

I never received a template from my recruiter; all he told me was for it to be no longer than a page. I based my statement off of the Army’s values & how I exhibit them or have experienced them in my life. good luck!
  7. AMEDD Direct Commission Course and BOLC - Army Stuff

So I’m not finding much information on what to expect when I go to DCC in September... any insight would be appreciated
  8. Downsizing Military Medicine

Talk is talk. My unit has new med-surg nurses coming every month I’ve been there, (& supposedly they’ll reduce their numbers first) so until it’s actually implemented & your packet looks good there’s always a possibility. Good luck to you!
  9. Reserve Bonus

I guess I had thought that during BA we would be training or working on skills that may need to be utilized if/when deployed. I understand that this was the last commanders view as well but with a new command comes a new perspective & technique. ...
  10. Downsizing Military Medicine

The little bit I’ve heard & read is that it’ll be a force reduction of 10-15k. They will fill the spots with civilian workers. Their drive will be focused on building the ICU, OR & CRNA numbers. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of information ...
  11. Reserve Bonus

To be honest it’s different than I expected. Not bad just different. You will get out of it what you put in. You have to be a go getter or you’ll miss the opportunities. (You have to look for them.) & there’s some really awesome people to meet. L...
  12. I hear that. It is a lot to accomplish. Good luck with it. Every drill weekend I learn something else that I need to have completed.
  13. I commissioned on May & didn't receive orders until November. The army is the best at the hurry up and wait game.
  14. If you don't mind me asking what kind of problems are you having getting a spot for DCC? Once my unit turned in my application I was able to get a spot reserved, but there are only 3 reserve options so I ended up in the last one for FY 19. Now I can'...
  15. My recruiter provided me with one. Might ask to see if yours will too.
  16. Advice about Active Army Nursing

I don't know if it's the same for active as reserve but to commission as a 66S (critical care nurse) having your CCRN was required in addition to the experience when I went before the board.
  17. Reserve Bonus

When I signed my contract last year the Army was offering a sign on bonus of $15k a year for a 66S. Definitely connect with your local AMEDD office.
  18. Army FY 2019

I've been following this thread & thought I would share how my timeline went, not to discourage anybody but more to provide insight. In June 2017 I contacted a recruiter & began the process to submit a packet for a 66S slot reserve side. The ...
  19. Army FY 2019

If I was the only one who experienced this long of timeline I would probably think it was something with my recruiter or my packet but because there were others in different regions of the country I can't say for sure why. The government did shut dow...
  20. Army FY 2019

From watching the website & my personal experience I think the amount of time is also determined by whether you are going active or reserves. It seemed that everyone who went active received orders in a fairly timely manner. Myself & others w...
  21. Army Reserve Nursing

O1 with 5.5 years experience & BSN acquired May 2017. The rest of the time with ADN.
  22. I was selected during the Oct '17 board & am still waiting for scroll to process me. Anyone else still waiting?
  23. Army Reserve Initial Obligation & Incentives

To be honest I don't know when I will receive it. I am still waiting on orders to come through.
  24. Army Reserve Initial Obligation & Incentives

In regards to bonus i signed my contract June 21 and at that time it was $15k/yr for a 66S AOC. Prior to commissioning & before I found out about selection in Nov 2017, it was $25k/yr. So just want to put it out there that it is always changing.
  25. Army: I've been selected... Heard nothing else

I was selected in the Oct 2017 board process as a 66S in the reserves. I Was notified Nov 16 and did not receive word back on scroll approval until May 17 & I commissioned on May 23. As of yet I still have not received orders due to errors locate...
