Widener University FNP
It's possible I haven't gotten there yet in the program but I haven't heard of it. I would just reach out to make sure. I'm "supposed" to be starting clinicals in a few weeks, but the coronavirus has stopped almost everyone from starting.

No, they don't teach that. It's strictly primary care. People try to get urgent care clinicals for things like that but it's extremely hard to find one.

Everyone I know that has had trouble with clinical sites, have had help in getting one but they do have limited resources so they tell people to find their own first. They found my peds site which was nice and I found my family med and gyn rotations.

Age vs Years Nursing
I'm 27 and have been a nurse for 5 years.
- What study strategies is getting you through Advanced Health Assessment?
- What would you do?

Can I be a nurse without majoring in BSN?
Hi 4pplepie99, In my opinion, I would rather "find myself" paying cc tuition rather than 4 year university tuition. Nursing related or not. You'll also start on a clean slate and transfer credits over that you completed. Just look into it and speak to someone at the community college.

Very First Nursing Job
I had the same experience. I would also get panic attacks before coming in. 4 years later and I'm a strong critical care nurse. You just have to power through and get experience behind you. The first couple of years are rough but if you don't give up, you'll be ok.

New Grad RN..made a mistake!!!
That's fine! Nothing to sweat about.

Hospital New Grad Orientation. I feel like quitting nursing.
This is a normal feeling. The most dangerous people are the ones that act like they own the place and are at ease with everything. That's how mistakes are made. You will be ok. It takes time to adjust.

Blood Transfusion
Hello, I agree with btdt. It depends on facilities. Everywhere I've been, there is no air in the blood bag but you need to make sure your infusion set doesnt run dry. At my facility we can hang 2 prbcs back to back until we throw out the set. We also use pressure bags in special circumstances, otherwise it's the pump, which gives better volume control. Everywhere is different.

FNP-MSN
Hi mag426, I just started this semester too. I'm doing my first year on-line and then I have to be on site for the rest. I'm taking advanced patho and health policy right now. I'm going part-time so I'll finish by Spring 2021. My school has partnerships with places but they encourage us to network and find our own preceptors first. If we can't, then they help us get a site. I'll be working full-time in a hospital until I have to start clinical, then I'll go part-time.

Needle stick
Hi VeraT, I understand how scared you must be. I've had a needle stick before too, although my patient came back clean. The fact that you started meds early also helps minimize the risk of getting the virus. I'm sure it will be ok. Accidental needle sticks/ body fluid exposure happens all the time.

Widener University FNP
Hello, I am looking into Widener University for their FNP program and I wanted to know if there are any nurses on here that have been through the program/currently taking classes or are accepted, that have any information on it. I don't see any posts on here relating to this particular school so I am curious. I competed their RN-BSN bridge program, so I am familiar with it somewhat. Thanks in advance!
