nevermind I was finally able to get into salesforce on my phone using your trick, but they have barely any information on me. All they have is 4 documents that I submitted with my application and my email. nothing else. Where did you see the decision?

That is all it says when I click on "view your decision". It just says that decisions have been made and they will send a letter by mail.. I'm a little worried that means I have not been accepted, but we will see.

I tried this too and I got the same message. I also have been accepted into another program that ironically starts May 6th too, but I would still prefer UAB. But I agree that we should know if we're accepted before May. I'm thinking late April.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that way about the essay. I bet they just wanted to weed out the people who weren't serious while also making sure we can follow directions. No, I didn't apply to the University of Alabama.

Hello, I am thinking about doing Herzing's post masters FNP program as well and was wondering how you like it so far now that you're a year into it. Are there mandatory login times? What are the classes like? would you recommend? I'm also wondering about the health assessment clinical, can you do that one anywhere? Thanks!

oh gosh, that was the most awkward essay in the history of ever! lol I've written TONS of scholarly papers and that had to be the weirdest one and definitely not my best. I honestly didn't know how to go about writing a research/evidence-based practice essay regarding my opinions of why I chose UAB and my degree path. To me, evidence-based practice research and personal goals and dreams don't really go together in a paper, but I made it work. However, it was so awkward that I have a feeling it ruined my chances of getting in. I talked about my personal reasons for pursuing this degree and found some peer-reviewed journal article on something I could implement when I become a nurse practitioner. Then I threw in some other random facts and statistics and cited them. I guess we shall see.

Wow, it's almost as if I wrote your question because I feel the exact same way with the same reasons. I'm just wondering, what did you decide to do and where did you end up going if you don't mind me asking?

Not really. Like NICU Guy already said, employers really don't care about your business degree, nor would you likely use it as a floor nurse. On the other hand, I know several classmates of mine who have gotten their MBA after getting their MSN because they wanted to work more on the administrative or leadership side of nursing and they wanted the business background. If you plan on moving up the ladder, then the business background may actually be beneficial to you.

My advice to you is to apply to both. Nursing schools are very competitive and you wouldn't want to miss your opportunity at one if you got denied at the other. Trust me, it will be well worth it to do the extra stuff in the event you don't get in at the first school. If you get accepted into both, then I would recommend doing the RN as the other nurses have mentioned. If your ultimate goal is to be an RN, then all you would be doing is adding on additional work for yourself if you went the LPN first. Where I'm from, the RN's who got their LPN first ended up doing more classes than us who just went straight for RN. I'm not sure if it's the same way where you are at though so don't quote me on that. Anyways, my advice is to go straight to RN, but if not possible, LPN to RN is better than nothing at all right?

Yes, Frontier has an option where if you go through the CNM program, you can add on 1 clinical course at the end and you will have your WHNP too! I'm highly considering this myself. It's definitely worth looking into if you wanna double up! Frontier is very well known for its CNM program as being the best, so if you can get into it, TAKE IT!! lol it is highly competitive though, even more so in the fall, but still worth putting in an application. Keep in mind though that they require 2 site visits to Kentucky, One for orientation and the other one before clinicals start. I only say that since you're in Alaska and idk if you'd be willing to travel that far.

I'm so excited to find this thread! I applied to their WHNP program and am anxiously waiting. My GPA is a 3.0 because I got my BSN and MSN at WGU and they have the pass/fail grading system so you can only get a 3.0 maximum. But I'm hoping I have a leg up on the application since I already have an MSN degree and all my references come from WGU's faculty. I guess only time will tell. Imposter syndrome is real! I'll get to that later, but I graduated with my ASN in 2015. I made good grades, graduated on time and passed the NCLEX first try, but I felt so nervous about starting my first job because I felt like I didn't learn enough. But the thing is, you learn so much more when you start your first nursing job. Think about it, how in the world can you learn everything you're supposed to in just a 2-year associates degree? My instructors told us many times "We are not here to teach you HOW to be a nurse. We are here to teach you how to THINK like a nurse" and it's so true! They teach you what you need to know to pass the NCLEX, but your skills and real training come with the job. Back to imposter syndrome, it is real and after 3 years of being an RN with a masters degree, I still didn't feel smart enough. That is until I learned about imposter syndrome a few months back. I think the feeling is pretty normal in such a leadership position such as an RN. You feel like you have to be an "expert" in your field of practice when in all reality, even Doctors don't know everything. I feel so much more confident now after having learned about imposter syndrome. Just know that you're not alone and your feelings are completely normal! Good luck to you

Just out of curiosity, did you receive your acceptance letters before the deadlines or after? I'm just trying to figure out if they do like a first come first serve or if they evaluate all the applications at once.
