Nurses smoking weed?
I agree. Thank you.

Nurses smoking weed?
1) I don't care if you use or don't use, that is up to you and completely irrelevant to the topic. 2) We both agree on the law, it's factual and objective... 3) so what is the point of asking for a rebuttal? Do you get off on disagreeing?

Nurses smoking weed?
-_- the legal aspect is pretty trite and hackneyed by now as it has been referenced just about a million times. What's been overlooked though is that OG was from Canada, where random drug tests are far less common and it's not nearly as scrutinized as it is here, both socially and legally.

Nurses smoking weed?
grapes help just as much...and yes pulling smoke into your lungs is less dangerous than being under the effects of ethyl alcohol, regardless of how socially common it may be. How many people have died from marijuana and how many have died from alcohol? It baffles me that you would even think that, you must either live in the middle of nowhere or not keep up with scientific journals...juat because you're an ADN doesn't mean you don't have be ability to stay updated

Unprofessional to mention you have other patients?
It's a completely subjective matter, based on opinions, highly prone to emotional variations rather than facts. Who am I to tell you whether or not it is right. All I have is a notion limited by what you have described, not a true perception of what your work environment is like, as such, I may be but I do not feel able to give you appropriate advice.

I'm not sure I'm cut out for this
As I was writing this, my reaction changed. Initially I thought, even though these are morally sound preoccupations, I wouldn't let a perceived stereotype about my occupation define who I am...whether it be a garbage man or a doctor, yes a doctor. Some are troubled by being perceived as hero-like life savers when in reality many of their patients can barely afford to see them, the whole health should be a right not a privilege spectrum. Some even take it one step further and have admitted to seeing themselves as 'money-making machines' who treat mostly well-off individuals, rather than someone in public health who can, despite the lesser prestige, affect way more people across a much wider variety of socioeconomic statuses. Anyways, I really respect your decision, whether or not I agree with it is meaningless, you know yourself better than I do, who am I to judge what you feel about yourself or your career. However, it is dangerous to "hype up one's own profession or self" as it often gives off a notion of insecurity, which may impact the quality of care provided. Pride is one thing, but showing off is another and just like compliments can be beneficial, so can criticism. Good post, enjoyed reading it.

Regis College NP (got in) vs BC (40/60 chance and wait a year)
Dilemma: Interested in Regis College (got in) and the world-known BC (have to wait a year). They both offer non nursing bachelors a direct entry to become a PMHNP in 2-3 years. Program Description -Both are fall start only. -Regis takes 3 years but I could start right away and wouldn't need housing. Likely unable to defer acceptance. -BC takes 2 years but I'd need housing & I'd hold out a year for the "chance" to get in, might not even get in...they're very competitive (especially in Psychiatric). For 2017, I only applied to Regis...all other deadlines had passed...but I got in! So if you were me (credentials below) would you ... (& why) 1) attend Regis College, work your ass off and become a PMHNP by age 28. (If I want to beef up the resume I can get a DNP or certification in a big name school) or 2) Hold out a year for the chance of Boston College taking 1 more prereq, knowing I might not get in and just end up losing a year. Thanks guys! Credentials: top 25-30 undergrad university GRE: Above 75th percentile in All 3 Sections (quant, verbal, writing) GPA 3.2 Goal: private practice as a Psychiatric NP Sidenote- plenty of ambivalence regarding whether school matters or not due to the shortage of NP's, especially in Psychiatric care. I've been out of school for 3ish years and I'm so excited to go back and do something I'm passionate about. Just unsure which path to follow to get there.
