  1. Thank you for your kind words! I am pushing through
  2. Thank you, I am doing traditional program at Rose! I will graduate December of 2019.
  3. Got through my first month of nursing school, I failed my first exam and it really made me sad, im going to take that as a learning experience to do better the next exam! All i do is school, work and care for my kids. Im constantly behind on laundry and have to do quick meals it likes i just go non stop. Because I failed my first exam I have implemented even more room to study. This is so hard...
  4. I came across this thread because I am a single mother of a two and four year old. I will be starting nursing school in less than two weeks. I am so scared bc I dont want to be away from my kids... but this is only temporary so once I get through this I know that I will be able to provide for my kids without a struggle. Ladies, please share with me your testimony during and after nursing school? How was it? How are you doing now?
  5. Congrats to you! I am starting to get some anxiety now that the time is getting close.. Good luck to you! :)
  6. Thank you sooo much for your encouragement and kind words :) I will definitely be in touch!
  7. I will be turning 27 two weeks before starting my first semester of nursing school. I will be 29 when I graduate from the ADN program. I am a single mother of two children ages 2 and 4. I feel like I am behind having other friends with college degrees but when you actually think about it, everyone's timing is different. I plan to get my bachelor and masters degree following my ADN once my kids are a little older. Best of luck to all of you. I don't know how I am going to juggle working full time and going to school full time but I will get it done!!!
  8. Wow, that is crazy.. I have even reached out to my close friends for a backup incase my family are not able to help out. I already know I wont have much of a social life but im content with that. Getting all the free and fun time out with myself and my kids now bc I will not be able to it during school. I am going to cut my hours down from 40 to 34-6.. it takes me longer to retain information so I need extra study time.
  9. To hear things like this really opens my mind and lets me know that it is possible. I will be the first person in my family to graduate college. that's of 9 kids my parents didn't graduate high school. I agree with you I need to take control and go to my professors for help or when I absolutely do not understand the material. I have had some people tell me I can work full time and go to nursing school on top of being a single mother.. crazy that some people say things like that. But I am excited about this journey and even more I will be glad once I finish to be able to be able to provide for my kids with out a struggle..
  10. That's awesome, Congratulations! two of my classmates from Chemistry class got accepted as well. No I will be doing Rose morning classes. The hard thing about the schedule is theory will be Mon/Wed 11-1250 , clinicals Tuesdays 1430-2230 and lab Thursdays 8-11. I will have to figure in 32-36 hours of work around my school schedule..
  11. I am just going to pray about it. We all know being a single mother we can get overwhelmed and I just want to make sure I do not over work myself, I made sure to purchase a planner. I have started filling it in and it has been a huge help.
  12. I have some family near by, its just hard bc they have a family of their own and I feel as thought I am asking for too much at times. I am sure this will work out just fine I am just having some anxiety. I will be working the minimum 32hrs a week to remain full time status at my job.
  13. My kids attend Daycare mon-fri so for me to work on the weekdends would be tuff finding a baby sitter. With them being so young they dont really understand why I am away so much. I am excited because I will be able to have a career and provide more for my babies.
  14. I applied to OCCC last year and got denied. I applied to Rose State and got in, I will start August 21st. I was just looking over my planner trying to figure out if this is possible. I know it is, it can just be overwhelmed sometimes. Did you get into OCCC?
