UC Irvine DNP-FNP Fall 2020
Yeah I applied in time for priority and was informed of the decision beginning on Feb. I know last year they kept extending the application deadline so maybe they’re doing the same this time. You could always reach out to them to find out

Duke Fall MSN 2020
CONGRATS!! Someone did. It’s kinda difficult to find because it says class instead of cohort. It’s called Duke University Nurse Practitioner Class of Fall 2020

UC Irvine DNP-FNP Fall 2020
Just remembered more! One was about what your scholarly project would be or what your interests are for your project. I think there were a couple “name a time when” questions. Like interactions with coworkers and patients or when you made a mistake and how you fixed it. And one was like what does diversity mean to you

UC Irvine DNP-FNP Fall 2020
my interview wasn’t through zoom. It was some website that had recorded videos of the admissions officer asking the interview questions. After each question, my camera would turn on and start recording for me to answer the question in I think was 3 minutes. I think it was supposed to feel like a live interview but at your own leisure. All I did was reread my essays to prepare so I kind of went in blind and everything was fine. My interview was back in February so I don’t really remember the exact questions. Good luck to you!

Duke NP graduates.... worth it?
Yeah ? that's been a concern too. I got accepted to a school near where I live but their program is brand new so I'm hesitant. kinda wild to apply and want to get in so badly but when I do I just start having second thoughts.

Duke NP graduates.... worth it?
thanks for the insight! I'm just concerned since I live in the LA area and I'm across the country from Duke

Duke NP graduates.... worth it?
They have changed the program so there arent part time and full time options. They now just have one plan that's called "fully enrolled". The MSN NP timeline is now 3 years. Those of you that completed the program and loved it, do you believe that your Duke education helped to get you employed faster? Also, do they actually help you with clinical placements? I've only seen mixed reviews

VA orientation schedule
New grad programs are vastyl different across the VA. At mine, you're not with a preceptor the first year, you're assigned under education. It starts 730-1600 and 40 hrs/week. I am unsure to how long that lasts but if you contact your local VA education department they should be able to assist you.

VA orientation schedule
New grad orientation at my VA is 1 year. For the first year your cohort is under the education department and assignments will be made to units according to strengths as well as preference.

Duke DNP Spring 2019
hmm, I was also accepted to a school in my area that has a medical center where our clinicals will be. I'm just unsure of where to go and if anyone has had issues finding placement out here.

Top DNP school vs MSN FNP School HELP
Congratulations! Getting back in the swing of school can be difficult so schools allowing students to earn experience while you're already in the program is awesome since there aren't clinicals in the beginning of NP programs anyway. I only have a couple years experience and I'm starting an NP program in the fall. I did associates, to bachelors, to now NP and I wanted to start right way cause I know I'll never go back to school if I take too long of a break in-between LOL. I never questioned your drive, I was just unaware of allowing the experience to be earned during the MSN. Getting into 2 schools is a great problem to have! You'll do great and congratulations again

Duke DNP Spring 2019
Hey! I'm in Long Beach and just got accepted to Duke but I'm curious about how successful they are with finding clinical placements out here. Have you encountered any issues with them or the program? Thanks!

Top DNP school vs MSN FNP School HELP
Are you currently in the ABSN program? If you haven't worked as an RN yet, getting that RN experience is really important and valuable to your education and growth as a nurse. You'll learn so much about yourself and the profession and what you think you want now may be completely different later once you've really submerged yourself in the field. If you're hard set on continuing school right away, I would go with the option that takes the longest amount of time so you will be able to gain that RN experience. Most NP programs require a minimum of 1000 hours RN experience before enrolling in a program so it kind of makes me weary of a program that ignores that standard requirement. Ask some of your nursing instructors for advice as well. Good luck with whatever path you take! A

I was recently accepted to this program and wanted to see if anyone else has applied or is currently enrolled?

Duke Fall MSN 2020
Anyone else else stuck trying to decide between 2 schools? I applied for BSN-DNP. Duke was my first choice but I also got accepted to a school in my area which is cheaper and 2 years shorter. The school in my area also has a large medical center and clinics all over where we’re placed for clinical so I wouldn’t need to worry about a preceptor at all. I know duke says they help find placement but its not guaranteed. Trying to weigh the pros and cons.

Duke Fall MSN 2020
I did mine this morning. It’s with a faculty member that hasn’t seen any of your application packet before. Very low key and no threatening feeling. All situational questions, why you chose this track, and then there is sometime at the end for you to ask the interviewer some questions.
