  1. Not enough staff The same unit is the one that is always short Hydration stations can kiss my butt , my covered drink is right in front of me Being floated to watch psych patients that want to do harm to you Having to beg for a lunch break especially when floated . ( I am diabetic on insulin and wear a Dexcom 6 glucose monitor) I do carry a snack in my pocket Mom that don't take care of themselves and their newborn baby pays the price for that . Cafeteria is closed on weekends And closes at 1330 everyday, so pack your lunch I haven't taken a vacation in 6 years but took one this year to be called on my first and last day of said vacation to see if I wanted to come in and play (work) I am always on when Joint Commission comes I just might have to tape my mouth shut, they were nowhere to be found when we were reusing PPE and carried our little brown paper sack with our nasty masks in them I am OK with masks I jus twant to be safe Staffing oh wait I already said that
  2. If it is close to shift change and your coworker says we are almost out of here "Bring it on " premature twins will deliver in a triage room and you will be running to NICU with 2 babies and stay late admitting them . I still give my coworker the side eye reminding her to never do that again. It is funny now but not at the time . Our triage rooms are so tiny to accommodate all that craziness ??
  3. Mistakes happen , that was along time ago and you did not know . I am a NICU baby nurse and teach the new moms to check the water before bathing by testing it on my forearm or elbow . I explain to them I wash my dishes in hot water and I am used to it, so I would not feel that it is hot when it actually is. I remember when I was young my mom was diabetic and had neuropathy and stepped on a metal belt and it went through her foot and she walked around with it not knowing , I will forever have that image in my mind . I started as a CNA at a nursing home oh the mistakes I have made , it is part of learning .
  4. In OB , and NICU I do say momma sometimes it is not a bad thing .
  5. We did the paper and pencil 2 days worth of testing back in the day . It was horrendous, we had to wait for our results to come in my snail mail . It was so stressful that we stayed up having cocktails after the 1st day of testing to go back and test again the next day , probably not the best decision I made LOL . I passed though .
  6. I was so worried about getting covid , and when I did it was a bad case . Pneumonia and now have adult onset asthma. Had CT scans of ny heart and lungs , echo of heart and heart monitor for 7 days. I am still SOB and my heart rate races when I do too much . I was 90 days out on Dec 6th . I received the shot today . I am very thankful ?
  7. Yes we get RN pay but the patient is usually not just quietly sleeping when we are sitting. We have combative patients, ones who try and climb over the side rails, get things thrown at us, etc . I am also NICU so I am not used to that so it is a very long 12 hours
  8. Our director does that but it is a positive 1:1 meeting ...questions are is there anything you need to do the job, any equipment ? Do you want to recommend anyone for a good job, etc I love our meeting s nothing to be afraid of for us .
  9. I always check my pockets before I leave work, and always waste meds . Here is another thing that could have happened ..What if she had a traffic violation and was stopped by the police with narcotics in her pocket ? I always think of the worse case scenario ....
