Id appreciate to see some thoughts on this subject too. I graduated May 19th. I am starting a job before I take my NCLEX. I am interested to hear how everyone prepared. I anticipate a July completion.

I took the NCLEX eight years ago and didn't work much, ended up letting my license lapse as I chose to bring up my kids. Then, I decided to go back into nursing and bought every NCLEX book I could as well as tapes. I can't tell you how many questions I studied. The NCLEX is harder now than it was eight years ago, but I passed with the computer shutting off at 75 questions. I didn't take any NCLEX prep classes; I just studied on my own. Some people like to say they focused on one or two books, but I have to say going over as many books as I did, helped me to pass. The bottom line is that passing the NCLEX is really based partially on knowledge and partially on luck!! Yes, luck because you don't know what questions are going to be thrown at you. I saw this more this time around than before. Not passing really could just mean you didn't get the questions you know about and not based on your intelligence. I now am in a class where one girl passed the NCLEX and I'll never know how she made it. She has no common sense and appears to know little. She must have lucked out when her questions came up. Don't give up. Just keep going over questions and good luck!!

I'm taking my NCLEX June 11 so I need some advice as well!

There is a specific area here that can help you outside of the general discussion forums. If you look down the list and go to "Student Nursing", you will see "graduate nurses" and something about "nclex" ... these two areas areas are a WEALTH of information regarding taking the boards and you will be surprised at how much you can learn there!

Best of luck to all of you ... I took my boards last Friday and am just waiting for the results!

I agree with SC RN. I have been visiting the NCLEX discussion forum quite often as I will also be taking boards soon. Good luck SC RN, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. So, how was it really? Was it as bad as everyone says?

The Saunders NCLEX book did it for me. Done in 76 questions/20 minutes. Had my license in hand less than 2 weeks later. This was 8 years ago. The NCLEX prep materials have gotten even better since.
