Pre-Reqs! HELP!!!!

Published

I have decided to start my BSN in the Fall of 2015! Who-hoo! I need some advice as to how to work around taking my prerequisites. I still have to take Anatomy and Physiology I, Microbiology, Lifespan Psychology, and Stats. I am a really good student and I used to be a Psychology major, so the Psych class won't be a problem.

Would I be crazy if I took all theses classes in the same semester? Or would you recommend that I take one of the classes in the summer?

Thanks!

What about A&P 2? Don't you need that one as well?

Actually, no. I will take that class during the Nursing program!

Stats isn't a hard class but it will require a good amount of study time to hone down the math steps. I think doing many problems is helpful.

anatomy and physiology, and micro are two heavy science courses. They are the big guys. You must study and read almost everyday in order to understand and let the info sink in. it will take some time to understand concepts so you may read a chapter more than once. You need to make sure you truly understand the material being presented. Info builds up over time and if you're confused don't be shy to ask because falling behind concepts is not good. These courses aren't necessarily difficult co nor are they an easy A I didn't do much work for my grade. I think if you put in the time, your real efforts and study diligently you should be fine.

If I were you and if given the opportunity to take summer class I'd take it. It depends on if those classes are available or not during summer so, take a pick if they are. I'd chose micro during summer if you have already taken anatomy and physiology since some of that knowledge can be applied to what's learned in micro. Micro during summer is fast paced so you must really study and read everyday. It's not a relaxing summer with micro in terms of having fun with friends, I saw them once in a while when I took micro during summer. it's possible to take a science course during summer if you're very wiling to work at it and sacrifice a bit of your summer time fun for a possible A grade.

Okay I see :) well that is a heavy course load regardless. I definitely wouldn't do it in all one semester. Like the previous poster said, microbiology is very intense and heavy. In my opinion, it is the hardest of the pre reqs. So I would do that class by itself. If you have to have everything done by fall 2015 I would do A&P, psych, and stats in the spring and micro in the summer. Intense studying will prepare you for nursing courses. Good luck!

Those classes total up to 14 credits and that is a sequence of classes you would be expected to take if you go to into a BSN program at a university. Very straight A doable.

Do not take them all together!! ~~

I took ancient lit, AP1, micro, stats, and span 2. Something else too, I forget. 19 credits and full time work. All As and one B. It's doable.

Anything is possible BUT you will have an extreme amount of studying to do. The time you put into that demanding course load will be your outcome. It is doable but HARD and TIME CONSUMING! A&P and Micro together is difficult but can be done. Stats too is a little crazy but if you are prepared to take the time to do it YOU WILL BE SUCCESSFUL!!

It is doable to take all of those in one semester, but I wouldn't really recommend it. Stats, A&P, and Micro all took a LOT OF study time. I took Stats and Micro in one semester along with 2 easier classes; I got straight As, but I don't think I'd have been able to pull that off if I added another study-intensive science to the mix. If you can, I would do Stats, A&P, and Psych in the spring, then do Micro over the summer.
