  1. I'm not going to lie... That test was intense. The timing was killer but I finished all the sections. I don't think I bombed it but I'm also not confident either. The spelling wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but there were definitely words I have never seen before for some of them. Math I hate . I don't know what else to say except hopefully my scores are where I need them to be .
  2. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one worried with math but they could bring on the crazy algebra that's my math specialty! I'm most worried about having time to work out fractions, percentages etc. because I'm so used to typing everything into a calculator! I know I can do them but the time is the crucial part. They say normally most people don't finish all the sections so I'm thinking of you can it will definitely help with higher scores. Thanks for your input. Once I get my results I'll let everyone know where I think my points wil be. Hopefully I'll have them next week.
  3. You definetly need to consult with your doctor about what you will and will not be able to do and how long after your surgery until you will be fully recovered. Sometimes or most of the times programs require you to be able to do certain physical and mental things and if your neck is a problem I personally think it is better for you to take care of your body first. Not only could you make the problem worse you can't expect to be able to take care of others if you are not in tip top shape.
  4. 350's ! You should have no problem getting in I think! I'm super nervous about the PSB I'm taking it on Thursday . I've been studying all sorts of books to prepare and I've found that I do really well in the reading and spelling portions. Hopefully this will be similar to the actually test. I am most worried about the math portion. I'm by no means dumb but for some reason I feel this is going to be the most difficult for me. Any heads up to what the majority of what type of math questions will be on the test. Also thanks for everyone commenting and sharing questions and also concerns. I've found some people to be very secretive about points and scores also about the PSB !
  5. Sorry ive been slack with checking my own post ... finals week! I just wanted to let you guys know I filed my intent to apply! I take my PSB on January 8th. Hopefully everything will go well and I have some extra time to study before hand! Im starting to get anxious but trying to keep myself in check! Has anyone tried to figure out their own point count. Im thinking that if I score like id like to on the PSB ill have around 350 ish points. OK so things about the PSB that ive learned from friends at the college that already have their scores. A friend of mine only scored like 28 out of 50 on the spelling (which is not bad considering the difficulty of this section) and was still in the 98th percentile. Unfortunately I don't think that the percentile is just based on the people in the room you are taking in with. My friend totally thought they bombed it but when the scores came in they did exceptionally well. Also I did not know this previously but the entire vocational adjustment is answered with I agree or I disagree. One section that will be a no brainer, THANK GOD!
  6. I am not applying to the RIBN program I'm just going to do the ADN and if I don't get in I'll apply for LPN and do the bridge program to RN it takes the same amount of time as just going straight through the ADN program. How about you?
  7. I spoke with someone that took it this semester already and they said that was the hardest and also the longest portion of the test but that they scored in the 90th percentile so that's good. He said the majority of the spelling was words he had never seen before.
  8. Yea I'm just starting the process too. I didn't get the book recommend by cfcc I got the Barons book offline and it's been helpful! Are you as nervous as I am?
  9. An A in A&P is not impossible and if you weren't stressed out with the demanding home life and the intensity of A&P I would consider you not human! Keep up the hard work and kudos to you !!!
  10. You should look into taking a CNA program when you are able to. This will not only give you an option to work in a hospital or doctors office while you are in school but it will also show you what "nurse life" is like. If you decided to enter a program and become a nurse you will go through so many different clinical rotations you will figure out what you like. Some people say they want to be this kind of nurse and then change there mind after doing clinical rotation on that floor. Don't worry about what kind of specialty nurse you want to be right now because you will figure that out later. I would focus on what you need to do to get into a program because it is HARD! P.S. coffee is what gets you through a long rotation/study session.
  11. Anything is possible BUT you will have an extreme amount of studying to do. The time you put into that demanding course load will be your outcome. It is doable but HARD and TIME CONSUMING! A&P and Micro together is difficult but can be done. Stats too is a little crazy but if you are prepared to take the time to do it YOU WILL BE SUCCESSFUL!!
  12. WOW ! That sounds serious. Its good to have a plan B and I think you should keep working toward the spring semester and wait it you to get an acceptance letter. Even if you do accept and the program falls to pieces that's when I would personally go to plan B. The costs sucks for transcripts, testing and they are also a pain in the butt! Your education is worth it though. Looking back you wont be thinking about the fifty bucks you had to pay to send transcripts even if you didn't attend that college. How did you entry exam go? Did you do well and would it be a big deal to take another? I did not take the TEAS, What was it like?
  13. Biology classes are the basis of any nursing program. Making a C in those classes is an average grade. Nursing school requires above average students. Not only because nursing programs are very difficult but because A&P is easy compared to classes you will take in a program. Most community colleges do not allow you to re take these courses with in 5 years to get a better grade because they know that the students who do not put in the extra work and effort to make a A in A&P 1 and 2 will most likely fail out of nursing courses and waste a spot for another potential student who would have buckled down and passed. If nursing is really what you want to do in your heart then consider your other options. I feel like someone who wanted to be a nurse would have not only done better in the courses because they had to to get into their program but would go to what ever length they had to to become a nurse. Debt should not be your stopping factor is you truly want to be a nurse because all debt can be repaid. It is difficult to ask someone if it was worth it to them because there answer to that question is YES. That is why they are paying off college loans. You need to ask yourself is becoming a nurse worth the debt to you? Also are you going to put in the effort to be an above average student in order to become not only a nurse but a good one.
  14. While this decision is absolutely one hundred percent up to you I do know that nursing is not just a job. Nursing is a career and to be a good nurse you must have a love for not only caring about people and there well being but also compassion for doing what ever it takes to get the job done. I think that anyone who truly wants to be a nurse would not be asking this question. True blue nurses or people who really want to be a nurse because it is there dream would not have to question as to which they would choose. Nursing school takes extreme devotion and studying aka ALL OF YOUR TIME. You will have no social life in nursing school and if getting out of your parents house and making money to be independent if your main goal right now. Nursing school is not for you.
  15. I only have A&P 2 and micro to do next semester. I am applying for my program this semester and have to take the PSB soon. Im freaking out!!!
