  1. I was accepted to 3 nursing schools, picked 1 and started. After a few weeks I had to have a second cervical surgery. I ended up having to drop out. Then I tried going again, and I had to be put under semi conscious state for 3 days because of pain. I had to drop out of that school. Now, I REALLY want to try again. I'm scheduled to take the TEAS next month, and the problem is there is so much information to relearn and now I'm required to have a higher score for a particular school I'm wanting to graduate from. I would only have a year. Any prep advice or thoughts?
  2. I had to discontinue my education. Swallowing has been difficult, if I overuse my right arm, to which point I haven't figured it out, causes awful pain and restless leg syndrome. Why, don't know. Next week I check in for my 6 week post-op and then hopefully onto physical therapy. Thanks f or all the wonderful postings, it will be dreadful if I have any grammar mistakes!
  3. I will be applying to start this Fall. I was accepted to Penn Valley, but had cervical surgery 2 weeks after I started the program. Any advice on getting accepted? I have a BS, completed Nutrition, Microbiology, Human Growth and Pathophysiology plus my CNA.
  4. Yes, I had the surgery 4 weeks ago. I was able to continue one class, but unfortunately had to drop a class that contained the clinicals. Now, I'm 8 months behind by the time Fall starts because of the portion of the program I was unable to complete. Thank you for asking!
  5. I have not glanced at this thread since reading the comments about improper use of the English language and stating my side. I stated before, it was difficult to type on a small phone that uses auto correct and also at the time I did not care to rewrite and make sure I crossed my t's and dotted my i's. I am in immense pain with numbness in limbs; I wanted some help, not criticism.
  6. Yes, it is herniated with a bulge that has caused damage to my spinal cord. I just don't want to give up. I am traveling to another city for care, needing a much more specialized surgeon that Kansas City fails to offer.
  7. Yes , correct usage of the English language does matter. I have nerve damage in my arms and thus difficult to type on phone and computer. If you want to talk about my education and lack there of is tacky especially since I received credits for Comp 1 (received a B) and Comp 2 (received an A) in the 1990's. I have a 4.0 in sciences and with 9 years of college I am educated. Texting and typing is extremely difficult and maybe you shouldn't judge so harshly. FYI took me about 10 minutes to type this. I am not looking for employment, I own my own medical spa and have for 8 years. I want to obtain the RN license for clients and myself. (I hope I don't have any grammer mistakes or typos!).
  8. Yes weight should be wait. Phone!!! Can't edit....
  9. I got accepted to one of the hardest nursing schools in my area. I have a problem. I just found out I have a herniated disc with a bulge pushing on my spinal cord and need surgery. I am suppose to start school in a week. What am I to do? If I tell them I won't be able to attend school, if I don't tell them and start I am in constant pain and have a nerve in my right arm that is not functioning correctly and won't be able to lift or do some tasks. I was thinking I could suffer through until Spring break, but don't know if I could or can. Especially if clinicals is labor intensive. I am in my 50's and have really worked hard for my pre req's and don't know what to do. Since I am older I am afraid of putting it off plus I had to weight 5 months since applying. Thoughts?
  10. I will be 51 when I start my RN program. Is there any advice to give a new student?
  11. I got in to Penn Valley!
  12. I applied to Penn Valley and still have not heard from them for Spring 2014. I have a GPA of 4.0 and finished microbiology also. Scored 10 points higher on the TEAS than what they required, just waiting and waiting. Do you get a letter, email or phone call? Got into National American University (many of my friends did not), their program is shorter, have good passing rates and also competitive.

I wanted to see if any of you went to Concorde that was talking about it and how did it go or how is it going? Thank you for responding!
  14. I was wondering what any one has found out about Concorde. Did you hear from them, have you started yet? Why are you chosing Concorde? I am going tomorrow to check them out. I did start Chemistry and Anatomy at MCC. I then saw 20/20 about colleges being rip offs and the people that are making money are the ones that went to tech school and Universities are and did make promises they couldn't keep. Now there are tons of people with student loans who can not pay off their loans. I am one of them that got a business degree. My friend did nursing and they are a lot more schools there that don't make you have so many pre-rec's like they do here. Her comment was if I had to do all that I would not have made it. That is why I am looking into Concorde. If I don't get in then I am out of luck.
